Sadly, he was one of the first to realize the Corporate Media and its role in shaping the Corporate Mentality, we now live in, and we didn't get it then, or sadly still, most still don't get that it is a Rich vs Poor Dichotomy not a Right vs Left. I so wish I hadn’t bought into the scaremongering as I teenager. I loved this song when I first heard it and wanted to buy the album but was afraid of all the Satan stuff. 30-some year’s later and I have been blown away by him and Black Sabbath. They’re awesome!
Ozzy is of the generation that took blues rock and created heavy metal. He started his carrer in Liverpool England around 1966. Yep that long ago. Still rocking. Randy Rhodes taught his current lead guitarist Zakk Wylde to play. He's even fronting his own band Black Label Society. Ozzy started with the band calling themselves Earth. Changed to Black Sabbath. 1st hits in 1970. Solo career started in the 1980 with the Album Blizzard of Oz. 40 years of music. There's such deep meaning to the music. Bark at the moon another great album.
I still remember the day when we heard he died. 1st period typing class (yes, I'm that old). Me and all my metalhead friends left after 1st period, went to a friends house, smoked out and listened to randy the entire day.

The guitar player is Randy Rhoads. He died very young in a plane crash. Ozzy never got over losing him. I encourage you to listen to Suicide Solution Live off of the Tribute album to get a real idea of how good Randy was.

Not in concert, but in the middle of a business meeting with CBS record executives simply because he was not happy with a proposed deal... The same man that snorted a line of ants and drank his own urine just before lapping up the urine of Motly Crue bass player Nikki Sixx from a concrete patio. There was also the time he was charged with trying to kill his wife Sharon... He and his "voices" decided that she "Needed to die" just before he attempted to strangle her to death preempting their separation. Ozzy has stated that I" regret trying to kill Sharon,... It wasn't my plan to go out, get pissed, try to strangle her and wake up in jail." The Endless psychotic tales would be enough to fill 2 best sellers. Ozzy may not have been the Satanic Prince of darkness that his character portrayed, but I don't think he'd be my 1st choice for a cuddle buddy. ;-) "Alice cooper", on the other hand was literally a show of theatrics with the lead character being played by a seemingly normal, immensely talented genius named Vincent Damon Furnier. "Alice" gets my vote for most cuddly shock rocker.

No "fake" news or rumors on the bat, the doves OR grabbing Sharon by the neck in an attempt to kill her. They came out of Ozzie's mouth in a very sober interview. As for the Urine... That was recently under scrutiny due to the recent Motley Crue biography and Netflix release. Was it just an added artistic "liberty"? That has been a popular question... According to sources that were there, It happened and the band (Crue) is still sticking to that story when asked about it. I dont agree with it, but it worked; hence, we are talking about it right now. He solidified himself in history; however, you cant dismiss his message in his music. Pure and simple. My first (real) concert was Ozzy's last tour with Sabbath in '79. I saw at LEAST one show from every one of his tours between the years of 1982 and Ozzfest in 1998 after which I started spending a lot of time out of the U.S for work. I've seen a good handful of his shows since, and have even FLOWN to attend his show at the Red Rocks Amphitheater the day before my wedding, foregoing the rehearsal and dinner. I've taken my Daughter to no less than 10 concerts or festivals that featured Ozzy. Funny enough I even had a stray mixed terrier in the late 80's that was NAMED Ozzy. I TRY not to read autobiographies or watch movies about my favorite artists with the exception of some dead ones like Johnny Cash as the hype gets in the way of the music. That being said, I've picked up just a "few" bits of knowledge in my years of experience as a fan and my 40+ years as a musician... Maybe you'd like to explain something to me about Ozzy or the plethora of icons that I spent my early years watching from grassy hills and beer covered seats... It's interesting how the view of vintage Heavy Metal has changed over the years. What was once considered very heavy is now "classic rock." What was once raunchy and explicit is now radio friendly.
He's also clearly aware of more than most general voters are, now I'm beginning to somewhat understand why he was on so much for so long, i mean, it had to play some part in it!
You just had the pleasure of listening to one of the most gifted guitar players in Metal history. Randy was untouchable. Might I recommend the song Diary of a Madman from the album with the same name? You won't be disappointed. Also, at a concert in early '82, a fan threw a dead, albeit real, bat on stage (the things that people bring to concerts, hey). Ozzy picked it up and, thinking it was rubber, bit the head off. Needless to say, the rabies shots he got after the show convinced him it wasn't. That's how that whole, stupid rumor started.

Apparently Blizzard bassist Bob Daisley has a whole bunch of outtakes and demos from those sessions, and he offered them to Sharon Osbourne in return for a percentage of the revenue. Sharon only offered him a lump sum to sign it all over to them and he refused. So she told him to take a hike and had the whole album re-recorded with with other musicians to screw them out of royalties. But when Ozzy himself found out he lost his shit and demanded that everything be put back as it was.
True story. I was set to see Ozzy with Randy Rhoads in April of 1982. Randy was killed one month ahead. Ozzy continued the tour but damn if I wasn't one depressed kid! RIP to one of the greats
January, 1982. My first real concert. I was in tenth grade and watched this guy who used to be with Black Sabbath (they fired him in1979) and was a "devil worshiper"(according to the media) come out with a good, powerful voice that was entrancing and a young guitar player by the name of Randy Rhoads, who would put on a demonstration of guitar playing of amazing proportions. I was hooked! I bought a poster and a t-shirt at the show. I already HAD the album. March 19th, 1982 Randy Rhoads is killed along with the pilot of a small plane and Randys girlfriend, "buzzing" Ozzys tour bus. The plane Rhoads was in clipped the tour bus and crashed into the plane owners house. The 3 passengers in the aircraft- Rhoads, Andrew Aycock, tour bus driver who had an expired pilots license, and Rachel Youngblood- were killed instantly. Welcome to Rock and Roll, kid.
What a wonderful and insightful reaction to Ozzy and one of my very favorite tunes! So timeless and still applicable today, unfortunately even MORE SO than the early 80s when I was a kid.

I was born and raised as a JW and ended up on the streets bouncing between homeless shelters and foster homes by age 14 all because I listened to Ozzy, Sabbath, WASP, Motorhead, Iron Maiden etc etc. My heart has never been more free.... You go girl!!!!
Randy was one of a kind !!! If you weren't there in the Black sabbath days you'll have no comparisons to realize how good and Special Randy was, Ozzy loved Randy like a brother. R I P Randy
I wrote that Blizzard and Diary were the best Ozzy albums EVER on Facebook and I got hated on by Ozzy fans who said I had no clue about Ozzy music ...to me Ozzys music was never quite the same once Randy passed away....

Think of this..My first concert was Ozzy and Black Sabbath...I was 13...It was General Admission, cost I think $4.50...It was me and a friend, dropped off by his Dad...Because it was General Admission (which wasn't uncommon back in the day. 1970) people showed up for concerts hours ahead of time to party in the parking lot..We met these 3 guys there, and one of the guys had a broken leg with a cast mid-thigh...His grandfather's house was right behind the arena (Commack, NY.) He told us he was on vacation down in Florida, and was an old Italian guy who made wine in his basement...We had time, so we hopped the fence, and we let ourselves into the house through a window...(Funny when we pushed the guy through the window, and he hit his head on a table!)...We grabbed a gallon of his disgusting homemade Vermouth, and went back to the Arena...The guy with the broken leg was a wild man!...He's sitting on the ground guzzling down the wine, and people chanting, GO,GO, GO!!!...We smoked a lot of pot!....I ended up sitting on the edge of the stage, about 10 feet from OZZIE, and no one bugged me to move the whole concert!....It was an AWESOME 1st concert, and contributed to future relinquishes, I always surmised!...LOL!...A memory I'll NEVER forget!...BTW, I now 62!

You should have talked about Randy Rhoades. He was the only guitarist who gave Eddie Van Halen a run for his money. Randy came out right after Eddie and had his own style. Glad you liked the song.
Randy Rhodes was a freakin’ unbelievable guitarist so sad he had to leave so soon. The line I’m living with something that just isn’t fair I can identify with that.
Guitarist Randy Rhoads only played on 2 or 3 albums before he died in a plane crash. But he is still to this day considered a LEGEND and highly respected. He had a custom built guitar that was shaped like a V, (V's are a fairly common shape in the metal guitar world), but his had a black and white polka dot paint job and other features that made it stand out. Its the only one in existence. Every guitar company on the planet has made copies of famous guitarists guitars... except the Randy Rhoads polka dot V. R E S P E C T ! ! There are many many tribute videos to Randy Rhoads. People try to compare Randy with Eddie Van Halen. But thats like comparing a Ferrari to a Mercedes. Two completely different animals.

When the guy putting together the "lyrics video" can't spell to save his own freaking life. I started counting typos and misspellings and stopped after the tenth.
Ozzy is a big old Teddy Bear that is one of the heaviest rockers alive. He never drank blood lol! He DID however, bite the head off of a dove. You need to google it and see how it happened, because he was loaded when it happened. He knows it was a mistake, and he doesn’t do that as a normal thing for attention. Someone threw a dead bat on stage and he thought it was fake and he bit it’s head off. He then had to have a painful round of rabies shots and NEVER did that again either lol. All of these incidents were during drug induced hazes and he doesn’t do stunts like that anymore. Check out the show Ozzy & Jack’s World Tour. It’s a hoot and you’ll see Ozzy is a sweetheart. He is still rocking at 70, but you can definitely tell his party past has taken a toll. We love him in spite of his head biting days though. While you’re at it, check out Flying High Again by Ozzy, and also some Black Sabbath With him as lead singer.

Ozzy is pretty much the godfather of heavy metal . Check out a great band called Black Sabbath. Ozzy was the original singer and helped revolutionize heavy metal to this day.

Ozzy had a crazy early life with Black Sabbath. He was constantly high on drugs, missing rehearsals and being late for concerts, and they almost went without him. His second wife Sharon got him straightened out or he probably wouldn't be alive now.
Strangely enough, Ozzy talks a lot about Love. I have/had listened to Black Sabbath for years (mostly the first two albums) until I finally gave in and listened to Masters Of Reality..... Truly an epic album....
That's the late great Randy Rhodes on guitar, considered one of the greatest in rock history. Crazy Train is a great song, but it's been so over played over the last 40 years that it's not my favorite Ozzy tune any more.

He bit the head off a bat. Someone threw it on stage at one of his concerts. He said he thought it was a rubber bat. He ended up getting Rabies shots. Btw he also bit the head off a pigeon at a record deal signing that he did on purpose he was high.
So the bat story... during a concert, someone threw a bat onstage. Thinking it was a fake rubber bat, Ozzy decided to bite its head off as part of his metal performance. It turned out to be a real, but dead, bat, that someone threw onstage as a joke. And so a metal story was born.
If you're going to appreciate the song, that's Ozzy and Randy, a fantastic duo in time tragically cut short. If you want to analyze the lyrical meaning, well that's the cold war, something that people my age lived through that meant a number of different things to different people, but in it's worst form ultimately meant worldwide thermo-nuclear war on a spectacular scale.

That's the thing about metal that many people don't understand. If you take the time to listen and hear the lyrics, most of the time there is very deep meaning there.
the incident your referring to was a bat was in the arena/stadium where he was playing and it was a real bat, Ozzy thought it was just a prop bat that had been put out there for him "being labeled the king of Darkness" and grabbed the bat and bit the head off and it was then he realized it was a real bat. the rest is history.
You should check out "You're No Different", "Fool Like You", & Thank God For The Bomb". Bob Daisely wrote most of the lyrics. Randy Roads and other guitarists, as well as other band members probably contributed to them, too. I think Randy Roads did, though. Ozzy only wrote a couple songs that I know of ("Mama I'm Coming Home" - To his wife & " Goodbye To Romance" - about him not being in Black Sabbath anymore. Singers usually get credits. He's a great singer and performer, though. His contribution to the songs was mostly humming a tune for them to put lyrics too, according to what I've read.
