I was there! We were selling bootleg T-shirts in the parking lot. That was an outside show with the stage built at the bottom of the mountain. Randy went nuts during this show! Third and final time I got to see him. I will always remember this show and still miss him to this day. He inspired myself and many others with his playing.
@@limelight6363 I have one of the blue/white jerseys (don't know if it was bootleg or not because it was almost like an Adidas type shirt with striped shoulders etc), but yeah I was there too with you guys! \m/
It's going to bother me til my dying day that I didn't get to see Randy play live. I'm sure i would have been blown away!! I was getting myself pumped up for the show by listening to the live Mr. Crowley picture E.P and i couldn't wait! Dammit. Love ya Randy
I know exactly how you feel. Was just about a week or two away from seeing him at MSG when he died. It's the one show that still eats at me that I just missed seeing him. And I still wish I didn't go all these years later. It was so heartbreaking and really should have been postponed to give time for Randy's fans to mourn his loss rather than mourning and feeling so sad at the show.
@@1wickedgroove Man I'd say you're a little luckier than me cause at least Brad nailed most of the gtr parts.. Bernie Torme was okay but nowhere close to as good a player as Brad is. That said though...no one would have been able to save that show so soon after losing Randy. It was so disheartening and such a huge loss that I wish I would have just thrown my ticket away. The only really good Ozz shows I ever saw was The Speak of the devil show at the tiny old Ritz here in NY.. which also wasn't too long after Randy passed away... and then the Bark at the moon tour was cool cause Jake was a great gtr player. But still.. not one gtr player who came after Randy could match his intensity, tone, sense of melody and Harmony and songwriting/riffs abilities imho
@@mbass718 Yeah buddy, their was and still is nobody that even comes close... back then, i didn't even know what Randy looked like except for the pictures on the albums...not a clue of how awesome a performer he was. Or all the cool fills and embellishments. Not much at all...I only knew from the first time i heard "i don't know", I was hooked!! I just turned 16 on February 18th, and a month later he was gone. Really, it's the first death i had to deal with. And still am I suppose.
Always love hearing the extra little flurries of notes and screeches, harmonics etc that Randy would throw in to make the songs a little different each time. Thank you once again for keeping his legacy and memory alive. He deserves it and so much more!
Thanks for posting this great show!!! I just went to this venue yesterday (on July 23, 2021) , the stage with the roof is still there, as is the building next to the stage. I wish I could post a picture but I'm not sure how to on here. Someone is clearly cutting the grass and maintaining the grounds, but the swimming pool (for sure) and stage (kind of) are sort of being let to go back to nature. I can't believe they had concerts here -- not because of the venue itself, it seems like it was a great place to see a show - but the road leading into the place is really narrow (both directions). Traffic must have been awful. The person in this video points out where the parking lot was. The field is in much better shape now than the video link I post below from 2015. There were tents pitched on the stage and about 3 guys riding around th grounds in atv's, so I did not venture onto the stage but got within 25 yards of it. The venue is right next to the road and you can mostly just walk right onto the property. Nobody stopped us or or said anything, we just looked around a few minutes and left. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dLItyFbTrjI.html
Thanks for posting the video... i went to the Ozzy concert there in '81, and your video cleared up how far i must have been away from the stage, as it seeemed further than i'd like... The water you see there seemed like it stretched to the front of the stage too back in 1981, so no one could get very close- as far as I remember. Thankfully i was in 5th row in front of Rhoads at the Palladium in NYC... This show was great... Thanks again for taking video of the Music Mountain
I was there... but after being in 5th row orch at the Palladium, this seemed a bit further away, as I was on a freakin' mountain... well, large hill I guess, lol... Amazing times to be a teen boy on booze
