im just gonna say, when you cut out that star over the ammo trays, and then put it on the cover absolutely perfectly, it damn near brought a tear to my eye. You sir are a true master of your craft!

Every David video I watch I think to myself this is at the higher end of my skill set. But I could probably pull this off. Then I watch the other 33 minutes in awe, thinking there is no effing way I could do that.

Congratulations to MiniArt. That's indeed a VERY nicely detailed kit. And to PLASMO: You have outdone yourself with that engine and cockpit. Never have seen such details on this scale. Overall, i think, one of your best models so far. I think it was very wise to not overdo it with oil and soot stains. LOVELY!

Man you never cease to impress. That 3D printed plumbing behind the engine is pretty OP. I’ll have to invest in the hardware/software for that when the kids get a bit older.

I built at least 45 airplanes last quarter with airbrush and that's not counting some armor and "pimping up" all Burago cars i have and had(drunk brother)plus the same with bikes. What i was saying is that this guy obviously has EVERYTHING. From the smallest paintbrush,all the thinners and liquids,normal glue and liquid glue with needle,scalpels,sandpapers,scissors,Dremmel tool with all sanding bits is better then sandpaper,compressor for obviously airbrush and the most important thing-A PROPER,CLEAN TABLE IN A SPACE WHERE NOBODY WILL BUST YOURE BALLS WHILE YOU ARE WORKING. For example,i've got great models and while i can do without the airbrush and stuff i can't do without a place to work. That simple. He was talking about crazy glue,man,i would NEVER get that thing near my model. Revell makes excellent liquid glue with needle that,as the guy said,partially melts the plastic and that's the best glue you don't need others. Comes handy to have some glue in the tube but it's not that you need it. I already wrote too much but about modelling,or racing,i could go for many miles before i sleep....but i won't because joviality....is a game of children.

Wow! It's amazing the quality of models these days! Far out strips the models we had back in the 70s. To turn out something like this you had to work in 1/32 scale, about the best quality we had available was the Hasegawa kits. And even then you had to learn from magazine articles, and develop your own techniques by trial and error which could get quite costly if you messed up the particular part you were working on. And the amount of reference material available to work with is also so much better. Great job on that Thunderbolt too. i like the picture of the real plane underside showing the grime from oil leaking over time. yes, they used to get real dirty underneath behind the engine. if you get the chance, watch the movie Fighter Squadron, starring Edmond O'Brian, and Robert Stack, from 1948, and it is in technicolor, The dialogue is very campy WWII propaganda style for the time, and they used painted up P-51's for Luftwaffe fighters, but seeing all those Thunderbolts with nose art in full color is really neat! Your work is always a wonder, David, I've been watching your channel since you started and I don't even build models. I just come to admire an artist at work.

For the under wing formation lights, paint silver, then a clear red/green/blue (whatever color), then the epoxy clear. It will look more like the colored light is under glass. Fantastic stuff as always.

For anyone interested, Cabelas sells lead wire for fly tying. They have a plastic case with 6 spools of diff diameter, $25 or $30, so fun to use.

I found myself holding my breath during the sequence where the star decal gets applied on the wing, cut in place, and the off-cut is applied to the separate panel. Really Brian de Palma-tense stuff.
