Welcome to another vlog series on P&O Iona.
We sailed from Southampton on the 13th November for a 2 week trip down to the Canary Islands and finishing up with 2 days in Lisbon.
It was an amazing cruise and we enjoyed some good weather whilst down in the Canaries, but also had to contend with storm Arwen on the way home which Iona handled extremely well.
This is the 2nd cruise we have been on since going onto a plant based diet, we hoping the food was going to be a better experience than our cruise in august, this time the variety was much better and we didn't have to eat Chips all the time :)
In this video we got on the sightseeing tour bus and visited a few different places and Kelly participated in her favourite hobby...shopping.
We walked along the promenade next to Playas de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria beach, which was full of surfers but the tide was fully in so couldn't really sunbathe.
We ventured up into town then finally headed back to the ship.
For dinner wen went to the Pearl restaurant which had 2 main course options for us, but before this we went and had a drink in the Anderson Bar for the first time, it's a lovely venue and we will definitely go there again.
We stumbled across a show in the atrium on our way back to the cabin

Great vlog I had a bit of chuckle when Mat said the bus journey was like a wind tunnel and cold it brought memories of me and my daughter on a open top bus in New York in November I’ve never felt cold like it I’m enjoying your cruise memories xx

Hi you guys, thank you for that wonderful vlog. I have just had two shifts from hell and that really made me smile and lifted my spirits. I loved your filming around Las Palmas, it looks like a place I would very much enjoy. So enjoyed the little entertainment in the atrium at the end too. Hi Guys. Another good one. Andersons was our favourite bar on the ship- great selections of gins . Still got the rum which we bought from our factory tour in Gran Canaria on the shelf ... like you do !! We sometimes do the open top bus but I am never convinced it’s the right think to do??? Keep them coming. Looking forward to Lanzarote next. Now that was a good trip.....😜 Take care Andrew & Jules xx

Great video! Thank you! We were last in Gran Canaria at least 25 years ago but have never been to Las Palmas. The hop on hop off bus looks a good way to get around. I'd like to see the cathedral and the old town and have a walk along the beach so I think that's our day planned.

Yes the bus is a good option to get to see a few things, wish we had a bit longer there to explore more but we still had a lovely day, the walk was lovely and relaxing 🙂 thanks for watching xx

Hi guys, Memories, we have never been on a hop on/off bus maybe me and Mand should try one. We were sitting at a lovely little restaurant at the other end of the beach. Another great vlog. Hi you two, we have been on a few hop on/off buses, still undecided on them, our favourite was Barcelona, but apart from that not really that special to be honest, you can tell Layla she’s our youngest fan, 😂😂still a fair bit of editing to go on the next one, hopefully finish it by tomorrow morning 🤞🏻🙄 Thanks for watching and your loyal support Love Matt and Kelly xx

When we were there in December some time some year, they had a surfing competition going on. Was not expecting that! A great waterfront to take a constitutional along and some interesting shops and bars when you head into town.

Another good vlog from you both, a walk through the town then along the prom is always a good experience, pity many on the ship don't know about it. Also the old town is a great experience as well, if only more cruise passengers were more adventurous.

Hi Kelly & Matt, Great information around Gran Canaria, looks very nice along the prom for good walk We always get anxious about getting back to ship on time! Prefer to go on excursion if possible,. Thanks for showing your day on shore. We have changed from Brittania onto Iona to Fjords in June ,so enjoy seeing all of Iona has to offer. Looking forward to next video.

I'm on Iona in three weeks time, can't wait! Looks like you had a nice time but am still not impressed with the choice of food for you. Hope they get their act together, otherwise it's going to be very samey for you in the future. Great vlogs, keep them coming xx

I was wondering whether you had emailed ahead to the manager, like you said after the last maiden voyage you went and spoke to her about the food. Did you think there was more choice on this cruise foodwise for you? Also loved that little acrobatic show you came across. Looking forward to the next one. Do you tend to travel with a travel debit card like Monza or do you take cash with you for shopping in port?

We did email ahead but the email the the manager gave us was wrong, we subsequently sent a few emails off to other people/departments but heard nothing back at all, although saying that the food had improved dramatically from the staycation cruise, after all it couldn’t have got any worse 😂 We tend to take some foreign currency with us but also take a credit card as well.
