Our next stop was the island of Lanzarote, in the port of Arrecife, this was our first visit to this part of the Island.
As we had nothing booked we decided to stroll into Arrecife, this was a pleasant 15 minute stroll along the harbour .
After looking around the shopping area we headed towards the Seafront and the beaches where we visited the fortress Castillo de san Gabriel.
This is now a museum that tells you all about the history of Lanzarote.
After stopping for a quick drink at one of the many bars we headed back to the ship .Where we enjoyed the afternoon on the top decks and pools.
Following day was a sea day , this was spent enjoying the ship and preparing for the evening entertainment, which included Karaoke.

Well, that looked fun! I loved the karaoke, but was so disappointed neither of you tried! I truly enjoy these, as you all are relateable. Hope you are both well, I am doing fine.

Thank you, once again Brian and Pearl. You both are very relateable people and think you would be great company. I watch your videos, mainly because i fancy booking a cruise and am looking for an hoinest down to earth review, which you both supply. I have mixed feelings on taking the plunge, i dont want the Butlins at sea affect and also Im a dinosaur who still either smoke or vape. With that filthy habit, I just dont know if the restrictions of smoking or vaping areas would put an unacceptable restriction on an enjoyable holiday.

Hi Michael , thank you very much for those really kind comments good to hear from you . I wouldn’t let smoking put you off considering a cruise. There are lots of areas onboard for smoking. I understand what you mean about the Butlins at sea affect. You want the right balance , we always found Princess cruises to be very good , but that bit more expensive . Quick question…. Do you always book the drinks package? We have our first ever cruise on Iona in Feb and are still undecided if it is worthwhile. Only 7 nights and three full day trips. Great blogs/ videos, really helpful - thank you

Hi Mark , the two cruises that we have taken on Iona we didn’t get the drinks package. On the first cruise we went to Northern Europe and it was quite hard to get served , I think the ship was understaffed at the time . So it was a good decision not to get the package. Second cruise was much better service but as we had quite a few port days we decided against getting the package. We do enjoy a drink and the prices on board are quite reasonable. Maybe you could pay as you go this time and if you enjoy it and do another cruise consider getting a package then . Whatever you decide we hope you have a fantastic time , Iona is a great ship and I’m sure you will enjoy it . Thank you very much for watching.

@@pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 Hi Pearl or Brian, thank you for your quick reply. My wife and I agree and don't think we will get the benefit of the package as we also have £240 credit on board. We are booked into a conservatory suite as yourselves were and it does look amazing. I have to say, for beginners like ourselves your video's are brilliant. We really did not know what to expect, our travel agent has been telling us for some time that we should try a cruise. But your blog's have made our decision much easier and we really can't wait to get on board. We are doing the Northern Europe trip, like yourselves so THANK YOU both for your help. Great work (both). Hi Mark , that’s great that our vlogs have been helpful. Definitely wouldn’t bother with the drinks package as you have that much onboard credit . Conservatory rooms are really nice it’s great to have that extra space . When you stop in Rotterdam you can walk to most of the main attractions if you didn’t want to do an excursion. All the best fingers crossed that you really enjoy it .

We have a trip to Amsterdam on the first day ( free walking all day) but decided, after watching your blog we would just walk into Rotterdam ourselves on the second day. Definitely want to go to the market 👍👍
