Good look at Iona. I really liked your cabin, seems like a decent amount of space. At 7:05, you both stop on the promenade to listen to the Capt... the takeaway was the smiles on your faces, realizing how wonderful it is to hear ANY Captain's first speech aboard. The atrium looks great! Good job, several times over, of audio fading into an oncoming scene. Welcome back to cruising :)
What an enjoyable video thank you for sharing. So very good to see a lovely couple who aren't extroverts (meant as a compliment). So many videos from others are bouncing about gushing at everything like they are high on attention. It really does stand out that your opinions are your own and not influenced by other factors. Please keep up the good work.
Thank you! Yes, know exactly what you mean. The over the top RU-vid persona that some put on make us turn off too. Rest assured that will never be us! Glad you enjoyed the video.
So nice to be back on a ship isn’t it. Great to see Iona vlogs finally, looking forward to the others and hopefully trying it ourselves some time soon!
Great to see you back 😀 excellent video as always! Cabin looked lovely! Looking forward to seeing more videos! We are off today on her so let’s hope we get some good weather. Keep up the good work xx Matt and Kelly xx
Great to have you back. Might book one of those promenade balcony cabins next year. Think they'll be giving them away by then 😊 What a dumb idea. Rest of the ship looks nice though, just a bit too big for us. Where are you Arcadia 🔭
Great to see you back cruising. Your vlog was very informative. We are looking forward to our 3 cruises next year. Will be patiently waiting to view your up and coming vlogs from the Iona maiden voyage.
Great video Andy. I commented a while ago encouraging you to do a voice over and I'm really pleased you've started to include your thoughts and opinions. It's what people are looking for in videos like this - info, tips and thoughts. Fantastic and thanks for uploading.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The channel started as a platform for our holiday videos and still is really, but we appreciate the vlogging style is better and we try and include a bit of information too.
It must be amazing to be back cruising! We miss it a lot and have been looking to book but not sure what the experience will be like onboard with all the changes, so looking forward to the rest of the vlogs! Also those balconies were strange, not sure if I'd like the lack of privacy!
Yes, those promenade balconies are odd and people don't seem to like them. Yes, it's great to finally be back. Good to know you enjoyed the video, look forward to watching yours when you're back cruising too!
Good to see you back on a ship! I forwarded this to our cruise friends, you sat in front of them at some stage in the week. They didn't realise you were YT stars! ;-)
I really enjoyed your vlog - thank you. you appeared so happy, and did a great job with the filming. Ive only ever sailed with princess, going on a 3 day section from Southampton of Friday - but thinking about other cruise lines to try too. cant wait to see your next vlog, and hope you got sorted with breakfast and to grips with the app Terry x
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! We really like Princess, sure you'll have a great time. We did get breakfast sorted. The app was actually fine and turned out to work OK for us for the rest of the week.
It’s great to see you back cruising. The ship looks fabulous and your cabin is very nice, though I’m not sure I’d like to stay in one of the promenade balcony cabins.
Hi Andy & Kirsty Iona looks a lovely ship and I would love to go on her next year, think I did see Ben and David but not you on theirs have a fab time 😻
Yesss! So excited to cruise on Iona, she looks amazing. Man those balconies are soooooo weird on the promenade, not a problem for me as I’m an inside cabin cruiser but still. 😂👍🏼
This is a really lovely vlog and reflects our experience perfectly. We boarded later, like you and felt a bit strange on that first evening. We did have a prom deck room but asked to move as the hot tub outside the room was noisy.
Hope you don’t mind me asking but were the prom deck rooms really bad we have a cruise booked for Norway next year and booked a guaranteed EE cabin but it does say we could get upgraded .I am really hoping we don’t get “upgraded to a garden conservatory cabin “. We had a cruise booked this year but it was canceled. Tia
It really depends if you don't mind people (and the sound of people) right outside your balcony. There's nothing wrong with the cabins themselves. Actually the conservatory cabins are lovely.
Great hope it's looking good for our cruise on Iona next June third time lucky we kept our booking from June last year booked for June this year not ment to be next year fingers crossed xx
Lovely lovey to see you back where you should be. On a ship. I love the balcony cabin and I was wondering if they are good so low down. It looks great and light and roomy. Would you recommend level 5 as you are under the action on level 6.
Our cabin was perfect! Felt very private. We were directly under Andersons, the lounge bar/library which was a very quiet venue, so didn't hear a thing. It was very convenient for the Atrium and dining rooms, especially as we were midship.
i have to say P&O do have the best ice cream I normally do not eat sweets but I do on there. We just come back from Iona lovely ship and the crew were brilliant. We ended up having a mini suite on the famous deck 8
@@andyandkirstie I think the mini suites should have been higher up because people were walking passed us on the promenade so had to be careful when changing clothes. The suite was lovely and relaxing the cabin steward always folded up any clothes lying around
Watching from Australia where there is no cruising in sight. I have three cruises booked for 22 &. 23 but we shall see what happens. Thanks for the video
Loved your video - it's the first one I've watched showing this ship. Unfortunately I've been put off trying it out for myself because we always book saver and there's no way we're risking being allocated deck 8. Never seen such a ridiculous layout of balcony cabins. We'll be sticking to trusty old Ventura and Britannia I'm afraid. x
A lovely vlog. As you say it is really big and there are many advantages due to the newness and plenty of choice. Would you still cruise on smaller ships such as Ventura and Arcadia? Not sure whether to prioritise ship or itinerary. Thank you.
We loved the ship but it only had half the maximum passenger capacity for our cruise. We still would prefer a smaller ship and less passengers. We've Azura booked for next year and that's the size of ship we like. Especially if getting on and off at ports.
Beautiful ship, but now you've done it, once you go with a balcony cabin you can never go back. Looking forward to the rest of the cruise, any margaritas in the future?
We've got a couple more balcony cabins coming up but also an inside. Nice to have but not to worried about not having one. Iona didn't have Margarias on their cocktail menu! They might have done me one if I'd asked.
Nice cabin, great to see the new ship. It’s very different to Britannia in a good way. Not keen on the balconies level with the promenade - not much privacy!
I think I agree with Kirstie about the promenade...I am not sure I like all that furniture on it. Holland America ships have a promenade and there are beautiful old fashioned wooden loungers back against the wall so there is still plenty of room to walk.
We loved it, it was so great to be so close to the water. We had no noise whatsoever. Andersons, the bar/library was directly above us and was really quiet.
I love a balcony cabin that deck 5 one looks so cute never been that low down but it looks lovely so close to the sea what do you think it would be like on a very rough sea x
I think it'd be fun if it was a bit choppy, but if it was too rough the crew would close the balcony off with the steel bulkhead door which closes over the glass door into the cabin. You'd still be able to look out the big window though.
Can’t believe in 13 cruises you have never had a balcony before. Now you are back what are your thoughts on it, a must have or a nice to have for future cruises. ?
We'd rather spend the money elsewhere like food and excursions rather than a balcony. We did love having it, but aren't worried about booking an inside cabin moving forward. We do have a couple more balcony cabins coming up though!
Hi, just subscribed. Never been on P&O, wanting to go on Iona. Would you recommend the basic package or ( more expensive) special saver with the extra benefits. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you x
You'll have a great time! The app isn't as bad as some say. The only trouble was some venues got fully booked. Joining a virtual queue was easy. Our table was generally ready within minutes.
Dreadful balcony cabins at front of deck 8 with people walking by looking into cabins. Don’t book a balcony cabin on deck 8 that’s the main gripe I hear . Plus the app is rubbish.
