This is not a How-to, just showing which sensors to try changing out
Im making this since I don’t have time to make an account on the ram forums where I found most of these suggestions. I just got this truck, 169k miles. I had finished repairing the AC evaporator and heater core using someone else’s video, and upon hooking everything back up, I got a dreaded P0300 CEL instantly when starting the truck. No additional codes, just the P0300. I could feel it misfiring. These are the steps I took to find my problem.
1. Check which cylinders were misfiring using scanner (5+8 on mine)
2. Move the coils from 8+5 to other cylinders, but the misfires stayed at 8+5.
3. Replace the spark plugs in both 8+5 even though all spark plugs were changed about 1k miles ago. I thought the gap was probably off. Misfire and CEL still coming on.
4. Replace all 4 O2 sensors in case they were faulty and causing the motor to run rich. CEL still came on immediately when starting.
5. Replace camshaft position sensor. CEL still came on.
6. Replaced Crankshaft+ manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor at the same time and light FINALLY stayed off!
Currently driven about 300 miles since the last two sensors replaced and I haven’t had the light come back on. My money is on the MAP sensor causing the issue. I’ll likely be swapping the sensors for MOPAR genuine to avoid problems later down the road as these brand parts don’t have the best reviews. Good luck!
