The code P061B usually means there is dirt or leak in the air intake system but if you get a combination of codes like P061B and P2229, then you may have a faulty ECU/PCM assuming the sensors are ok. First, replace the air filter. Make sure there are no air leaks. Disconnect battery... Then use an electronic contact or sensor cleaning spray to clean the MAF sensor. Then the MAP sensor. After that unplug your ECU/PCM, clean the contacts with the spray as well as the plugs, and reinstall. Reconnect the battery and use your OBD II scanner to erase old stored codes. Then run a full scan. All should be well unless there is actual damage to the MAF or MAP. If the codes come back and you are fairly certain the sensors are not damaged and clean, then you may need a new ECU/PCM. You can also re-flash the PCM with Forscan or Mazda MMP/IDS software.
@@scoobydoo3942 When there is a combination you have to start diagnosing. A combination means you either have a bad MAF sensor, a leak, dirty contacts, or lastly a bad PCM/ECU. Start with the easy stuff to rule things out. Buy a new air filter and a sensor/contact cleaning spray. Change the engine air filter since it is cheap, makes sure there is no dirt or dust in the air filter system going to the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Disconnect the battery and using clean gloves take off the MAF and MAP sensors. Use the spray to clean the MAF sensor and the MAP sensor too, then reinstall them. If the codes remain, disconnect the battery again and follow the procedures to disconnect your PCM/ECU unit (two big connectors). Your car might have separate PCM and ECU units follow the procedure on both as they are unlikely to be damaged (check for rust or damage) but once you disconnect the connectors use the same sensor/contact cleaner spray to clean the contacts in the PCM/ECU connectors and the wire harness connector pins. I assume you have a Scanner since you provided codes. Do these things first to avoid spending unnecessary money and then reconnect everything, make sure they seat or connect well, the battery cable too, and turn the car on. Clear/Check for codes again. If the same codes are there after you have changed the air filter, cleaned the MAF/MAP sensors, and checked for air leaks in the Air Filter box (should be nicely sealed)... Then turn the car on and with the car running disconnect the MAF sensor connector. If the car remains on/running you need to replace it. The car should turn off. The U0121 code is your ABS sensor, I doubt it is bad and that you have both the MAF and ABS sensors dead at the same time but it is probably a bad MAF. Keep in mind if you are going to buy a MAF sensor some cars are extremely picky and love branded MAF sensors (Mazda). It will take any other compatible sensor but in my experience even with the check eng light off the scanner always had a trouble code in memory until you use brand. It will work if you are on a budget but branded is best for MAF sensors if your car is Asian. Clear all codes at the end if all goes well. Do all that before you go any further diagnosing these things is hard even for trained techs. I am pretty sure you may have either a bad or dirty MAF with dirty PCM connectors.
