This is really good. The title and the video are on point. They cannot reach compatibilism with their way of thinking. The Salafis have very rigid criteria for understanding the text. That, of course, doesn’t work well when met with the slightest doubt from atheists. The average Salafi is not equipped with any tools or deep understanding to argue against an atheist except based on emotions. One thing I noticed is that they tend to be very harsh with Muslims who disagree with their manhaj and very lenient and soft-spoken with non-believers. Because when they talk with an Ashari for example, they are also fighting their own doubts so they can resort to belind faith. It’s really out of insecurity. The way they usually deal with their inconsistencies is by taking their methodology to an extreme and expecting other Muslims to accept it, or else they’re not pious enough. That strategy is futile when they’re met with someone who is a non-believer.
Really good video. There is no contradiction between the aql and naql. They are a light upon light to be used in harmoniously as the asharis have always done in response to new questions. The salafis think they are following a middle path then end up always following into a bigger ditch.
what do you mean God has already decided the test? Has God decided, like the author of a novel, that who will enter Hell as a kafir? Is this mainline Ashari belief?
@@africandawahrevival I have read these texts. so you are saying that God already decided if you wd b a jannati or jahannami before the creation and he decided what beliefs you wd have and he decided what actions you wd do? Then why shd a kafir be blamed for his kufr. If he converted to Islam why shd he be praised for his belief because it was all decided by Allah and he had no choice in the matter. We do not praise robots for their actions nor censure them, we censure the programmer who programmed them badly. This is pure jabr.

The ashari position is a masked up jabari position. Let take the issue of dua and the answer. For asharis God eternally decreed who would make dua and His answer to it. The human then only appears to be free-willed. In fact this is the Jabari position, and to them dua actually has no meaning. It is just something that God has decreed a human to do. The human has no role in choosing to make dua whatsoever.

@@zakyzayn5361 The video is about their scriptural hermeneutics, they have a sort of literal/dhahiri esque approach ("we follow the apparent meaning, no taweel, like Asharis..."), I was merely pointing them to verses that cannot be taken literally, lest you either fall into contradiction or you hold possibly heretical positions.
