Hi Steve, A chap in the UK rebuilt a 720S on RU-vid his name is Mat Armstrong, that's his RU-vid channel. There's a good chance he has or knows the whereabouts of a good 720S windscreen surround from his damaged 720S tub. Good luck with the build, loving the content Cheers Brian

If those pillars are bonded, you'll have a time getting them off without damaging them. You may consider making a mold right from the 720. Take the foam off the windshield and see how close you really are. Bodywork could be done to the 720 window frame to make it fit the P1 windshield perfectly before you made a mold. There's nothing like exact fit vs. scan/printed, it's guaranteed. It seems it would be easier than printing it to me, but I'm used to doing the old school stuff. I'm enjoying this series. I know how hard it is to make parts to OEM specs.

As the proud imaginary owner of a RtLaren, I wonder if the engine from the C8 Z06 would fit. The best engine sound in one of the best looking cars. OR the engine from a Quattroporte 05-09.

Hi guys, been following this build since the start. Personally, in my opinion the coupe is a better idea because it'll be more rigid and not structurally compromised like a Spider. But hey it's your project! If you're really heading towards the idea of building a Spider, I would say you should scan the doors and have them printed and built instead of having to cut your original doors. It's the longer way but you'll still have your doors intact once that P1 tub arrives.

So, I love coupes, also, but the McLaren carbon monocell is as stiff in coupe form as in spider form. Almost no other use can claim the same!

@@RT-kr7dk I would agree. Generally, I'm not a biggest fan of Spiders and convertibles but McLaren make the best ones compared to the rest. And they're not crazy heavy like Ferrari or Lamborghini (who love to lie about the actual weight btw). I was only speaking this in the case of P1 as it was originally always meant to be a coupe. The Lanzante P1 Spider looks decent but it just feels incomplete to look at unlike other models from McLaren that look more natural as Spiders.
