Hi JaguaRRoman, My 2003 X-type suddenly has got the code P1646, I replaced the bank1 upstream oxygen sensor successfully today. I've done slightly different way from you but I thank you because you gave the way how to release and tight the oxygen sensor of the X-type gasoline.

@@jaguarrroman Oh, it will be great since now I have an issue with this system - either the cat is dead, or it is empty)), or the sensor is faulty - there are 2 mistakes: 1647 and 0174. Looking forward to your videos!)

Hey Roman thumbs up for the content! Btw id like to verify if my research is correct so P1646 and P1647 are both for upstream o2 sensors (gray socket) P1646 bank1 located under windshield and bank 2 P1647 is the Sensor between radiator and battery? btw jag needs OEM quality especially the pre-cat sensors cause of heating element, id go only for Denso.
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman Год назад
Thank you for the comment, Marek. I agree with every word of it: P1646 and P1647 are both upstream faults, bank 1 is under the windshield, bank 2 is behind the radiator. O2 sensors should be OEM DENSO only. As for the downstream O2 sensors, I have taken a video of changing both downstream sensors some one or two months ago. I plan to publish it right after the video about X-type thermostat replacement. Cheers!

I know it has nothing to do with this video, but watching your video about an x type, the code p1647 and p1646 fax the x type crashing in the admission and choking when accelerating? I have this problem and these codes in my workshop, grateful
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman 2 года назад
Yes, you are right. 1647 and 1646 fault codes refer to upstream sensors, which are responsible for correct air/fuel ratio. Engine choking and unstable idling are the first symptoms of upstream O2 sensors failure. Good luck!

@jaguarrroman

There are 4 O2 sensors on an X-type engine. If your scanner shows 1646 code (upstream sensor bank 1), you can make use of this video. I will probably take videos of changing other O2 sensors in the future.

@jaguarrroman hi can you write me the name model o2 sensor for p0037 fault?
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman Год назад
You should check with your local technician, but as far as I know P0037 is a OBD-II diagnostic fault code defined as “Rear Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2). Jaguar X-type downstream oxygen sensor OEM number is: 1X43 9G444AA DENSO 9100 The link to the video about Jaguar X-type downstream sensors removal: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YW8v7Z9vAEs.html

I cannot get this sensor off. It will not budge, there isn’t enough room to get any leverage. I did try the way you did with the 22 but because of the position, the only way it goes on is right at the bolt next to the sensor(manifold bolt maybe?) which leaves no room to turn to loosen there is a heat shield in the way to change positions on the 22
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman Год назад
If you cannot easily unscrew the o2 sensor, it's better stop trying to do it with a wrench and make use of a special socket for o2 sensors.
@Neruodiv87
@Neruodiv87 Год назад
@@jaguarrroman the normal o2 sensor socket wasn’t leaving Much wiggle room to turn. I kept hitting the booster. I tried out the o2 sensor wrench came right out!!!! Amazing little tool. Another difference I noticed I have 2.5 I think you are on 2.1 which made it look easier. Thank you either way, I got it off. Working on p0171 & 174 now, I cracked the booster vacuum adapter trying to get it out. Replacement on the way.
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman Год назад
@@Neruodiv87 It is also possible to get to the sensor from the upper side and increase the lever arm, the way I tightened it. Good luck with changing the vacuum adapter!

I have a code P1646 it just says code it just says code exhilary input in airport what does this mean
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman 2 года назад
In my humble opinion, it has the following meaning: P1646 is a faulty heater circuit on bank 1 upstream o2 sensor. As for me, I would swap bank 1 and bank 2 upstream sensors and check the fault code. If it changes from 1646 to 1647, it means that the O2 sensor is faulty and is to be replaced. If the code remains the same (less probable), it means the wiring/ECU issue. Good luck!

Just ordered the downstream bank 1 (P0037) for the 2.5and have to idea how to reach it. It has to be twice as hard as the upstream.

I will surely take videos about replacing all the 4 oxygen sensors of Jaguar X-type. And for the present I can explain to you how do I replace it. Usually I make use of a special socket for O2 sensors and 2 universal joints, 2 extensions (short and long) and a ratchet.
@saltydogz4657
@saltydogz4657 2 года назад
@@jaguarrroman I managed to get it off and without removing the cowling or the manifold as were other "mandatory" suggestions . It can be done without removing anything but there are two bolts that retain wiring that can be removed to allow the wiring freedom to get more room. Then I used a crow foot style O2 socket with a swivel adapter and two wobble extensions (a six inch and a 1 3/4 inch) attached to a breaker bar. It then required short length of pipe on the breaker bar to get some additional leverage to break it loose as it was very stubborn and getting penetrating oil own it proved almost impossible. But a little continuous pressure on the bar and it gave way. The secret to removal is the proper placement of the O2 socket connection lug in terms of location to ensure you get the longest possible stroke with the breaker bar without any restriction of the manifold or the cowling. As it turned out, the more difficult part of the removal of the old sensor was getting it off the metal clip that holds the connector end. After trying everything possible, I eventually had to resort to using a pair of plyers and breaking it apart in pieces until it was free and then I had to scrape the prong clean of some plastic. I'm not sure it was fused to the metal tang or if these are not simply not intended to be removed without breaking it apart but this seems unlikely. Just beware that it might be difficult. Hoping to install the new sensor today. Ie was too late to start it last night. Hoping all goes well. My only concern is getting it tightened enough without damaging the new sensor. Also, I plan to run it a bit to be sure my POO37 code is gone BEFORE I connect it to the metal tang in case it has to be returned as defective. I'll post again after all is complete in case there are any new issues that occur that people may want to be aware of in doing this job. This may be the most difficult thing to do on an X-Type other than internal engine components or transmission work. It's probably the most frustrating thing to do considering it's simply the removal of 1 thing that's attached "in the open." It can be done though.

Great video. Do you have any about the EVAP system? I have a problem adding petrol, keeps shutting off. Maybe could be the charcoal filter or solenoid, or blocked pipe or something
@jaguarrroman
@jaguarrroman Год назад
It's a common problem on many X-Types to kick off the fuel pump when refueling. The easiest way to avoid it - is to reduce the flow rate of the petrol coming from the pump. You may try not squeeze the nozzle’s trigger up to the end. If the handle you use has notches that hold the trigger in place, try setting the trigger to a lower notch. But if your case is severe and it doesn't help, surely, you have to check the EVAP system. Maybe in the future I will do it on my Jag, but I haven't got such ideas for the present.
