I did the repair to the circuit board, but now it will not shift into the 5th gear. It acts as if it where a stick. It just revs instead of going to the next gear which I would imagine it to be 5th
When installing the selenoids back in the TCM. You said to be sure to lubricants them first. I see you dab a brush on the solenoid right before you snap them in their slots. What do you use to lubricants the solenoids? The other question a person had here about the cross contamination of the trans fluid and the coolant leaking in the transmission. You said would not cause this type of problem in the TCM. I had the same cross contamination. Upon throttle up sometimes it slips before engaging 1st gear (it’s automatic) 08 Pathfinder. What do you think could be causing this slippage. Thank you in advance
1) I use motor oil for lubrication. 2) cross contamination damages the transmission . If your transmission had antifreeze in it, best to get another transmission. Then put a stand alone cooler on it.
THIS IS YOUR TRANSMISSION thank you for your reply and advice. What a bummer I missed the 100,000 replacement warranty by 12,000 miles🤨 I’m hoping I caught it early enough there was minimal damage. I’m pretty sure the TCM had contamination from antifreeze in it. I was hoping if I could remove the TCM, take it apart like you did, clean it COMPLETELY with CRC cleaner spray for electronics and check all solenoids and copper connections if they’re soldered. Then reassemble it might do the trick. But I got no fault codes on the Blue Driver OBD reader. I already installed a new radiator and all new hoses, flushed the engine well and cleaned the overflow tank (it was a mess, took me forever). I also purged the transmission twice to clean and fill with new trans fluid, replaced with a new trans filter too. I’m hoping I can spare the cost of a rebuilt trans. Here in Hawaii it’s big bucks. I was wondering if it’s the torque converter but it doesn’t usually get contaminated-right? Since I got no codes you think it’s not a bad connection in the TCM or the glycol could have contaminated it? Thanks again for your help. If you know of a good used tranny, please let me know. Lol
I checked the computer panel en connectors are fine, i didn't have to weld anything, so I replaced the solenoids, but I still get same codes,. What should I do??
My 2008 pathfinder keeps blowing tcm fuse then wont crank. 4x4 light is on and display does not show what gear I am in. Could this be a broken terminal in the tcm ?
I never was a fan of "could this be". It seems like you have a dead short somewhere. What you would have to do is follow the procedure in tracing a dead short. You would probably need a diagram to see what circuit the fuse is on and what other circuits and components are connected to the same circuit. Then you would have to start the process of elimination. There are videos on youtube that show how to track down a short. It came be time consuming.
If you cannot do it , then take it to a transmission shop. If you think that you can do it , then take the valve body off and check the solenoid board like you see in the video to see if the board is broken. If it is broken, then repair it. I do not have a video on how to take the valve body off the vehicle though.
