Make sure you watch Part 1: Off Spin Coaching - rectifying bowling errors in colts county cricketer • P1 Off Spin Coaching: ... Live video from the second coaching session for this young colts county off spinner.
I really like this video. The coach picks out the key points and keeps it nice and simple. Worth watching if you are looking to improve or correct errors creeping into your offspin.
One thing that helped me from getting my legs crossed was to land with my back foot parallel to the crease, then my front foot almost pointing down the pitch (not quite straight - maybe 20 degrees off straight) If I did that I could not cross my legs. It also helped me to pivot and get my shoulder ahead of my neck to get my wrist in the right position to proper spin on the ball. The two issues I had was leg crossing and putting back spin on the ball rather than overspin or offspin. I think this was because I had bowled seam for almost 35 years and was used to leading with my chest and head. With offspin I had to learn to get my bowling shoulder out in front and the only way I could do that was with a proper pivot. Doing the back foot parallel land actually solved both my problems. Though it took hundreds of repetitions to get the muscle memory right (maybe thousands) But not too bad. Less than a season later I have pretty much grooved it.
That's awesome and will work. Did you come in from a angle to land the back foot side ways? So the reason I didn't tell him to do this is because the pivot wasn't a problem as he was over pivoting. I needed his momentum to go straight over so I worked on his forward momentum more.
Extremely useful! I have exactly the same tendancy to lean away/back slightly and allow my front leg to come across me at the crease. Please do more off-spin sessions!
Very true and it has always bugged me. May be Anderson could have been on 750 wickets if he didn't look at his ankle 😂. He actually lifts his head up as soon as he releases the ball. He does this because of his shoulder delay to create the elastic energy. Every fast bowler will not look at the target on release and while it's a flaw, the momentum they create by the run and jump compensates for this so it's not noticeable. On the other hand spinners don't have this luxury.
I heard the news that ravi ashwin have more variation than anyone else. The total variation of ravi ashwin is 7 in number(including normal off break). Sir can you show how to bowl all off spin variation (normal off break) of ravi ashwin saqlain mushtaq moeen ali and graeme swann? Can you also show how to bowl teesra and arm ball? pls sir. pls sir. pls sir.
Very knowledgeable, Really good session, and great tips to the bowler. What I didn’t understand was the chest and top spin thing in the side on action. Also can you please tell me how do you use the other arm (non bowling) when finishing. Also, how the shoulder should be angled for extra bounce? Thank you
It's very hard to write about this. When you open your chest up, it changes your wrist position from your palm facing the batsman to the palm facing cover which results in more over spin. Hope that makes sense. Non bowling arm is used to make your momentum go to towards your target by drawing your left arm back wards which helps your follow through.
Makes sense, thanks a lot will experiment as soon as the nets start. I think I naturally bowl side on, and can now relate more when the ball spins a lot and when not

Hi, or all depends on the quality of the content. I won't be putting up content with added music or edited highlights package of the batting. I want to see bowling from different angles target then just one angle bowled once, won't help me or any one.
Hi, follow me on Facebook and send in your video or send it via Instagram and i'll have a look. Usually the chucking happens because it's a compensation for a loss of energy in your action.
This is normal. If you don't get your finger cut on the seam then your not bowling with enough pressure to create spin. I also got this then decided to bowl of the front of the finger or bowl cross seam. But it all depends on your action. I know this is not that helpful but the pain is normal as a offspinner. After some time, the skin gets harder in the cut area.
