Just got mine Saturday and have fired several hundred rounds through it already. Spent two hours at the range with it and about five at a friends house. Super excited to have an affordable daily shooting pistol. Ammo prices are ruining all my fun!
U don't have to dry fire to decock the weapon. Pull slide until it stops against hammer, and then pull the trigger easing the slide forward = pistol decocked.
This gun is not dry fire safe without the chamber flag. I was dry firing mine and noticed a change in the sound. The next time at the range 50% of my shots would fail to fire. It’s either a broken firing pin or return spring. I had nowhere near the 5000 dry fire clicks Sig claims it tested it to.
got a p322 for my first gun after collage, here's my experience : the chamber flag pulls out of the gun every time you rack the slide the chamber flag is not a good dry fire solution, and and someone else noted, why can you fire the gun out of battery? this just seems like a bad design, cool mags though, i love shooting 25 rounds out of a 22 pistol. but the romeo zero elite it came with was broken out of the box, (elevation screw non functional, its currently waiting for RMA approval by sig support). a lot of good things to like about this pistol but overall not the game changer it could have been. for a Gen 2 they need to: -not be able to fire out of battery -sell it with an optic that actually works, (going to be ordering a Holosun eps carry for mine) -better self cleaning, mine shoots great for about 200 rounds before the firing pin channel gets clogged up and i start getting light strikes, i carry a tooth brush in my gun bag just to address this problem. - better slide to barrel lock up (sense the barrel is fixed you would think this would be a pretty accurate gun, but because the slide isnt locked to the barrel like in a traditional pistol the slide and sights can point somewhere else then the barrel if there isnt good lock up. - double strike capability: this is a hammer fired .22lr gun, we all know .22lr isnt the best, all .22lrs should have double strike capability, or maybe a twin firing pin to strike two places at once on the rim. -- include a rear sight with the optics model, as my optic was broken out of the box i had to order a rear sight assembly, 50$ usd, for a flimsy PLASTIC, iron sight give me a break. -different grip modules, why isnt this using the FCU concept, FCU is the best thing any gun maker has done for the hand gun market since the invention of the striker was invented. -better/metal trigger, : i like squishy plastic anywhere on my gun except the trigger and controls, these need to be metal or at least a much better/stiffer plastic, - safety is way to high even for my big hands, and is digs sharply/painfully into my thumb if i try to ride it while firing. it needs to be lower and better contuered or not present at all. honestly if this is the experience sig wants to give a new p322 owner then im kinda out, i was thinking of getting a P365, but now i'm leaning toward a P-10C or Hellcat, sig is probably loosing me as customer with this one. still love the FCU concept though, i hope everyone else adopts it.
I just bought my first sig sauer p322 yesterday at my local bass pro.... im kinda one of those who would use a chamber flag but unlike what you said/claimed in your video, i did not receive one in my newly bought gun package..... how come?,,,,, plus how about a video on cleaning the thing?
This is very interesting.. Although admittedly until I saw this video I would have never thought or have considered. Trying to drive fire any weapon with a chamber flag in it. That it can fire, not fully in battery is interesting in and of itself.
It’s a hammer fired, not striker. There is a firing pin safety block that interacts with the hammer itself. Very little out of battery position will not let the hammer far enough forward to push this aside due to the angle. There is a safety notch on the hammer itself to prevent the hammer from travelling fully forward without a trigger press. That is what he appears to be engaging in the video rather than fully recocking the hammer.
…a bit of a correction to the above in that he actually is recocking the hammer despite the very short slide stroke. Since the chamber flag is in place it is enough to reset the hammer. But it is also possible to go to the safety notch if the chamber flag isn’t there. The travel distance is very short for that and the trigger will release it as well. It has a different break to it, though.
The counter guy handed me the pistol after racking it. I pointed it in a safe direction and dry-fired. He looked at me like my head was wonky, then I got a brief lecture on not dry-firing rimfire guns. I was under the impression, from other reviews, that this was an AOK thing to do with this pistol. For clarification - please respond, Sig Sauer - is it absolutely OK to dry fire this, or do I need to invest in 20 orange plastic flags for dry fire, as I'm sure to lose them all? I know you make this clear in the video, but is there ANY potential for damage with dry fire at all with this weapon? Many thanks!
