This was my camping ground, up until early adult hood. However, I would air on the side of caution swimming in it, not because of the algae but how cold it can get. Many a good swimmer have drowned there.
@@rolyfoster697 For some reason Brombil Reservoir does not seem to get warm, any time of year. You find that jumping from warmth into cold water the body goes into shock, so you gasp for air and in effect take water in. However, if you are recovered and brought around or even if you did not drowned you can still die from what is called secondary drowning. That is where the lungs are filled up with water. Do not ask me the medical term for it, other than asphyxia. What is more, I am also a Speero and I frequent the waters and the mountains where you have been in Wales.
This was basically my back garden growing up, was a 15 minute walk from my house, only problem is that the land owner has now destroyed the area by logging every available tree turning the area barren and devoid of life.
I have been free diving for 33 years but I bought a new snorkel with both top and bottom valves and it is bloody useless! Plus, when I dive, I find the bottom of my mask fills up with water even after I have cleared it, Possibly because I have a gouty moustache.
