This exercise helps produce power on the catch of the paddle stroke. As in isometric contractions our muscle requirment is higher and when applied in a push pull kayak stroke set up it helps strengthen neural pathway to help develop a more effective technque. Kayak or surf ski paddlers could use this in their training to help improve their technique off the water in their gym sessions.
