I SAW THEM IN DALLAS IN 98. I WAS 15 YEARS OLD AND WAS 20 YARDS FROM THE STAGE. I JUMPED UP AND YELLED JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY. HE STOPPED POINTED AND WAVED. GREATES MOMENT OF MY LIFE NEXT TO MY BOYS BEING BORN
Yes, there is something about their music which will always tug at my heart and reminds me what living should consist of. Equal measures of happiness, love and and endless hope for a better tomorrow, for all of us, the children 9f this world.
Still one of the greatest songs of all time. From start to finish, it evokes such emotions. Robert Plant is the only person that can sing this song, beautifully and soulfully. The rythm of the guitar and the accompanying of the mandolin are a true symbol of harmony and balance. A song that brings a peaceful feeling to the soul. Watch an autumn sunset with this song and see life in a different light. Quietly take the crisp air in and let the melody and the words of this great song whisk you away. You will feel better. Cheers everyone.
Fantastic song, universal poetry on this tune lyrics, it fits everybody`s life, past present and future Human beings generations, A song, an Anthem of hope, love and faith. My #1 no doubt¡ Regards from a Chilean miner entrepreneur.
@@patriciougarte7173 I agree, this is sheer poetry. Its beauty and its simplicity are in itself magical. From the rythm to the lyrics. The song holds up to the test of time. It elevates the senses and the soul. It moves you through time and space, to a place where all is well. Truly epic. Cheers my friend.
@@hungrychowhound11612 05:18 AM here, working night shift. Trampled Underfoot, live version, before blasting. Then, on the way home, around 07:30; Going to California & smoking my stuff. @@patriciougarte7173 Agreed. Let us not forget what the true meaning of this festive season is. Like all things let us give thanks for family friends, near and far, and for the wonderful music that soothes our souls and embraces our spirit with the majestic beauty comforting melodies. To you my friend I send well wishes to your family and your friends. May the music always help us get through the day and night. God bless Patricio talk to soon.
No you're wrong I used to sing and sound just like him people's Jaws dropped when they heard me sing I used to sing everything and sound the same from Billy idol to led Zeppelin to bon Jovi to warrant I used to practice every day at least half the day so many people try to get me to join their bands.
Before their concert in Tupelo in ‘98, I took a chance and waited for them to visit Elvis’ birthplace. They showed up in a long white Lincoln and allowed me autographs and a photo with them. The only photo they allowed. Still thrilled to this day. Can’t believe it’s been 22 years
Hey man where is north Wales 🏴 like is that a country or 😂 I love watching them live I’ve watched so many full live concerts but I wanna find this one live and was wanting to know the back story to it lol
Maybe when I pass away, my soul will be spent in the 1970s for eternity..where I, as well as many others who were born a little too late, truly belong. :)
probably the children of the hippie generation would have the rock music in their DNA. I'm so glad, that this kind of music is still respected and loved by so many people- no matter what age.
You know what the best decade was/is? That when you were, are or will be a young optimistic adult before your hopes and dreams are crushed by reality...
Music is timeless my friend. All that downer talk is unnecessary. Even 100 years from now, this video and the entire catalogue will still be fine to the ears. Music, like life is for the taking.
These guys are truly Great Grandmasters of their craft. You cant possibly best their talent. So broad ranging ....from electric rock blues fusion to folk to funk to jazz RnB they can master any type of style or genre
...and to think there are those (millennials) who think Greta Van Fleet is on the same stage talent wise. JP has more talent in his little toes than GVF has in their entire band....including their roadies.
@@jean_alpesI'm sorry Jean but I strongly disagree with your appraisal of Roberts voice as dog shit. You obviously do not possess the ability to appreciate musical genius!
@@jean_alpes In regard to your inquiry..yes, Derry will be touring near your area as part of his F the Pandemic World Tour 2021. Since you have sent your address privately you will be receiving front row tickets as you requested. Take care Mate!👍😁💜
That’s because good music isn’t played on the radio right now. It’s all being released independently, so you don’t have a recording company pushing out to all the corporate radio stations. Now you have to search for what you are into. Streaming services are great for discovering new music. Then you go and buy their music from them directly so they get paid.
they were the biggest band in the world, at a time when it was possible to fill stadia. music is splintered now in so many media and directions, unlikely to have it happen again like that.
Spent my days with a woman unkind Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine Made up my mind to make a new start Going To California with an aching in my heart Someone told me there's a girl out there With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair Took my chances on a big jet plane Never let them tell you that they're all the same The sea was red and the sky was grey Wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake As the children of the sun began to awake Seems that the wrath of the Gods Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow I think I might be sinking Throw me a line if I reach it in time I'll meet you up there where the path Runs straight and high To find a queen without a king They say she plays guitar and cries and sings La la la la Side a white mare in the footsteps of dawn Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems
@@lisamoroney3036 I could be wrong, but as I understand it, this lyric is referring to the person in the song trying to find an idealised version of a woman he has built up in the mind for himself that doesn't actually exist in reality, we all tend to do this when it comes to those we love/fall for. As I say, I could be wrong but this is certainly how it comes across to me
I've had the great pleasure of introducing my new wife of 63 years old to the real Led Zeppelin. She's heard the "popular" stuff, but not the masterpieces like this. She is a huge fan now, and I've revived an old love and many memories.
Beautiful song indeed. Music from the 60s, 70s and 80s is indeed the best ever created besides classical. Talent has been on the decline since then, yet, thankfully, there are exceptions.
Had the honor & privilege to watch Robert Plant & Jimmy Page live in concert October 1995 in Sacramento it was the greatest show I ever watched live.I was 20 years old. Blind Melon opened up for them... a few days later Shannon Moon passed away from Herion overdose 😢 Will never ever forget that day 🙏🏻
Gives me the same chills that I got when I was blessed to BE THERE IN 98! So ironic that such a God given talent went on such lost souls... (Maybe it wasn't a God given talent) Still... I believe good..., no GREAT MUSIC IS GREAT MUSIC! I can tune out the "dark lyrics" in some songs and just feel the genius of Page/Plant... God Bless And Take Care...
I have had the pleasure of seeing this God perform at this show in Vegas and 6 other times truly Unbelievable on Stage. There will NEVER BE ANOTHER Plant, another band like Led Zeppelin, music speaks to your soul. Thank you for sharing this.
I was at the Forum in LA in the late 70’s John Bonham was still drumming- the band performed an acoustic set for at least 45 minutes- It was the greatest performance I have ever seen or heard. Growing up in LA I saw everyone - Lead Zeppelin was special
I saw led Zeppelin, Wembly, London in '71 and they were as amazing as I hoped they'd be. Tickets to the Saturday gig sold out within an hour of going on sale; then they announced that they would do a Sunday performance and I got lucky. Themselves and another group (stone-the-crows) did 5 hours between them. Amazing experience and I feel privileged to have been there ( up in the balcony on the left) and before I retired I had a lot of jealous workmates. RobJ
@@High_101 His 5 year old son died of a stomach virus in 1977 while Plant was on tour with Zeppelin in the United States. He adored him and it was a devastating experience as you would expect.
I was privileged to be in attendance for this show. It’s absolutely bonkers to realize basically the same amount of time which elapsed between when Going to California was written and this performance has elapsed between this performance and present day.
Really pretty version of one of my favorite songs of all time-timeless and sublime! I recently read that this was Led Zeppelin's love song to and about Joni Mitchell. Page was a big fan and listened to "Court and Spark" alot. The lines "to find a queen without a king, They say she plays guitars and cries and sings" seem to describe her.
What band today will people be searching for in twenty to thirty years? None. Now, a band makes millions off of one song whereas these guys poured their life work into the music and it showed.
Brings back beautiful memories of longggggg ago ... lying in the arms of the love of my life, Billy. Sad ..... he has since passed on but the memories still remain.
I am a Brazilian and in 1980 was living in L A . Came August tickets for a Led concert in November would start selling on a Monday . Slept on line and got my ticket , was so stoked finally would see them live . September came was training and a friend told me the news . Right there I knew i would never see them in concert ,,,,but it did not matter cause i was just sad for J B death...RIP
markriobr what a shame, I have a similar situation with zeppelin, they came to roanoke in 79, I wasn't able to get there because it was an hour or so away and my ride fell thru, I still have two full tickets in a frame on my wall, I look at them and wonder what it might have been like, well , we all know that it would have been awesome
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page Thank You, Thank You, Thank You What can I say, that hasn't already been said. Robert Plant has such a Unique and Very Distinguishable, Beautiful Voice; A Precision Instrument. Jimmy Page, A Truly Gifted Guitarist. Both Rank Number One, in my book. Named my Daughter, Paige in Jimmy's Honor. Neither Robert or Plant sounded right for my Daughter!!! 😁 🎶WALKING INTO CLARKSDALE🎶 I am so Thankful I had the Honor to see them perform together. ✌️💞🎶🙏
Born in 64. In high school, my buddies and me planned to but tickets, cuz we heard they heard they were going to do a US tour. Sadly John Bonham died around the same time and Zep nver got to tour. Hats off to the baddest ass band that ever was or will ever be!!
I moved to San Diego in 1980 from Chicago on a jet plane. This song reminds me of then. I was just 22. Thank you Left Zeppelin for all the great memories.
They were a magical formula as a cohesive group, legendary musicians with no true equal. I made a point to play Jimmy Page’s guitar parts note for note as he had written them. Even though the rest of the band isn’t in my living room when I play it, the song becomes alive again. All members were amazing but Jimmy Pages music was on a unique level of ingenuity. The heart of their music is the acoustic in my opinion, with this song and a Bron -yr-aur, the most beautiful acoustic guitar song ever, from the beginning and end of the “Song Remains the same” movie. Epic. . . un-matched and Eternal.
One of the great things about being recognized is that you receive this feedback from people. It is easy to see how sincere people are. It's nothing fake or jive. They're giving sincere appreciation. And it's not that easy to express. And I want to specially appreciate you for being a big fan. Thanks for your love and nice comments on my post, it means a lot to me and I would like to know more about you and how long you have been a good fan of mine Okay then I will direct you to my fans gmail address platform where we talk more on leisure hour.Best Regards. I was there, at MGM Grand Garden Arena, on the floor section. everyone was standing, the whole concert and met a few friendly people passing a joint ...
I was there too , was passing through Vegas heading home to Canada, was only there one night and low and behold they were playing so I bought one ticket and went by myself , will never forget it.
Just beautiful. Page and Plant were really the only ones who 'got' the whole unplugged notion; how far you could take it. you did need some chops though. Great when the crowd picks up the line "hard as it seems"
I remember going to see Zeppelin live as a teenager... of course I was all about the rock and roll but when they performed their acoustic sets I was amazed... thankful that I have some part of an association with that today.
Great to see the crowd from back then, pre smart phone, living in the moment enjoying the show instead of sticking their phones in the air recording so they can feel superior to all their friends on facebook for being at the show. "Look at me, look at me!!!!!! I was at the Page and Plant show! Look at how cool I am! Are you looking? Tell me how cool I am dammit!"
I did that at a McCartney concert front row and am very proud of it. I paid alot for my ticket, didnt disturb anyone around me, and have a once in a lifetime video of the best concert I'd ever seen. Not sorry
