When Page faced Michael Lee in the beginning of the song it was Jimmy saying you are a Rock n Roll Drummer.....never saw him do that except with Bonham.....Page and Plant knew that Michael Lee on drums brought Zepp back from the dead after Bonzo's passing.....
Walter… interesting observation! I saw Michael twice, once with Plant Page and as Thin Lizzy’s drummer. Both times demonstrating he is of the top guys around at a young age. Taken from us far too early on his 30’s…. At home alone on a Saturday he experienced an epileptic fit and lost his life. RIP Michael Lee ! Never forgotten 🌈
Page meant fucking BUSINESS on this tour! I saw them in Detroit...Page didn't smile one time, but his playing was unbelievable! Best performance by Page since Zeppelin, hands down!
Man, Page and Plant. The things those two together have really separated themselves from the greats. While people can argue there are better singers and guitarists, these two together accomplished so many things in song writing and chemistry that very rarely happens. These two gave us poetry through music that this world will never forget! Oh and JPJ and Bonzo were gods too!
Man this is absolutely killer!!!!!! Being a total Zep fanatic for 35 years now I think this is just as good as their 70s heyday. And as a drummer I can honestly say that Bonzos spirit passed on to Michael Lee here.Killer drumming. The only weakness here is the bass playing......it certainly aint Jonesy but still pretty good!!!!!!!
Michael Lee was so underrated and will be missed - what a great drummer - too bad he took on the most deadly job in rock - drummer for Plant/Page. - Forever a fan of all
this show will be broadcasted on german tv "WDR Fernsehen" again on may, 2nd 2009 from 1:05 - 2:35 am Dies Konzert läuft nochmal im deutschen "WDR Fernsehen", Freitag auf Samstag, 02.05.2009 von 1:05 - 2:35 Uhr.
HOW MANY MORE TIMES IT WAS AND STILL IS MY FAVORITE TUNE ON LED ZEPPELIN 1 WAS A FANTASTIC SONG ON THE ALBUM REMEMBER I WAS 16 YEARS OLD WAY BACK IN THOSE GOLDEN DAYS,,,,,,AH THE LEGEND,,,,,,,,,,,,W0W,,,,,,
@jjp4mma Page was on during every show of that 98 tour. My friends and i saw them in Detroit! Needless to say, Page played the shit out of that gorgeous Les Paul!!! It is THE concert to which I compare all others.
He sang this when he was in his 20s. Now he's in his 70's (dont know when this was filmed). How many people do you know who can sound the same after 50years. Jimmy only gets better.
no, i don't know, perhaps there are some bootleg dvds circulating on the internet.. but apart from 'heart in your hand' i loaded each song up here on youtube. well, the video quality isn't the best, but the audio quality won't get much better.
Ist das nun geil oder nicht. Mein bestes Regenkonzert meines Lebens. Headliner am letzten Tag. Selbst das Festivalarmband ist spitze gewesen beim Biarre festival 98 in Köln,es sieht noch genauso gut aus wie vor 13 jahren.
+Ryan Thompson Guitarist Yeah that's like an early to mid 90s standard. It has a 60s neck and and I think stock pickups. He used it for one tour then it disappeared. My favorite Page guitar though is the red Les Paul with the b-bender. It has the best sound.
I am going to blaspheme here...Michael Lee was the only drummer who could match in his own way the intensity, unique timings and hitting weight of Bonham and it is because of this he is amazing to listen to AND watch just as Bonham was...he is dead, sad I think...
tHINK THIS IS THE 90,S FIRST version of his Les Paul, with all the switching etc.He also had a replica of his number 1 by some english luthier But i think this is the gold hardware which indicates it,s the gibson page model
Check my videos of Page&Plant at the Shepherds Bush Empire, London 1998. The whole gig in 10min sections!! Awesome gig...probably the best of that tour!! This video is also amazing...page def on form!!
I think Jimmy is still on acid in this performance because he is in a space zone in his own world making that guitar talk with a personality of its own. Truly a God guitar genius doing things no one else can do.
This is tight. When they were bad, they were awful, live aid and the A.R.M.S concert. But when they were on the ball and not getting equipment fuckups and what not, man they were mighty. Granted 2 of the members are missing here, but these other guys are holding their own. Its just really, really tight IMO.
