I'll never see any of the members of Led Zep playing live, and after 22 years of my life i still can't deal with it... every time i see a vid of them live i feel like crying... it seems to me that nobody ever came close to Zep's musical perfection, perhaps it's just the fact that they are almost a legend to me but still, "love" is not nearly enought to describe what i feel for Led Zeppelin.
Giacomo Bergonzi I just saw Robert Plant a couple weeks ago. He did Whole Lotta Love, Rain Song, Lemon Song, Rock n' Roll, Wanton Song, and Dazed and Confused live!
Plant is often touring in Europe with his sensational space shifters. I went from Zurich to Colmar to attend his concert. Was pretty good to hear him live and see all the energy even though he is 67 now... he looks even more amazing performing in such an old age ...true legend... god like!!
@@crungefactory Yes, he did. I witnessed it personally. Even brought the man to the front of the stage in between songs to introduce him personally to the crowd.
There was a point after years of listening to their most acclaimed albums, that I really got tired of them and then came to love in thru the out door and presence. I honestly believe now they were their best albums
True. I think both albums are overlooked, as is their last, Coda. All three are great albums. Out of the three I would say Presence is my current favorite. The favourites changes yearly, seasonally, etc.
Dare I say Michael Lee is better drummer than Jason, wow he did deliver, saw this tour and he was the whole package...RIP Michael...you are missed 😔🎶🎶🥁
I'll never understand why they had to break the band up after Bonham's death. I know they loved him, but I'm sure he would have wanted for the band to keep going
@marianadamelio the main reason is how close Robert and Bonzo were, they grew up as friends in the midlands and played in several bands together including the Band of Joy and it was, Robert who recommended and eventually brought Bonzo into the New Yard birds which would eventually become Led Zeppelin, this friendship continued throughout their lives and it was Bonzo who was the only member of the band who flew back with Robert after the sudden passing of Robert's son Karac, and only band member to attend Karac's funeral. It was bc of this amazing friendship that IMO Robert could never see continuing with anyone but Bonzo behind the drum kit exceptions of Phil Collins at horid Live Aid show and of course the great O2 arena, show with Bonzos son Jason behind the kit...😎
I was there.Boiling hot day and they came on over an hour late, probably waiting for the Sun to set.Main reason I went to Glastonbury that year.Half of Zep is still better than all of nearly any other band.Got badly sunburned but great memories.
They were late due to flights out of Germany being late. They were touring Germany at the time of Glastonbury. In the July they toured the UK, I got to see them in Glasgow but remember watching Channel 4's coverage of Glasto just to see them
Lee was a beast on the drums. So sad to think that he died alone in his flat in Darlington following an epileptic fit. He was only 36. Also sad that only Pagey attended his funeral. Plant didn’t.
@@digidrum2003 It’s funny because I was at that show and we all loved it. I am sure because who we were seeing play and it was a very long concert and blazing hot. It was all good, I think they were a little hard on themselves and Phil. No one in the crowd cared, we were all having a fantastic time. Take care
Brian Bingham amazing drummer. He had huge shoes to fill and he did it well and did it with a smile. Apparently it's taboo for anyone to suggest him being anywhere close to Bonham himself but Lee was definitely outstanding if for no other reason not once have I ever heard anyone complain about his playing and he was playing after the fn GOAT!
He’s unlike Bonzo in the way he doesn’t push the tempo like Bonham was famous for. Maybe Jimmy asked specifically for a pocket guy to make it easier for him.
I was there with my brother. What an amazing time we had , so lucky to see & hear these two legends on the stage & at my favourite festival of course. 👍🏆🇬🇧🎼🎸🎤💥
Plant is one of a kind. And Page is incomparable. I believe Led Zeppelin will go down in history as the greatest Rock N Roll band of all time.Extraordinary music !
So cool they included a segment from Carrouselambra in the middle of In the evening as if it were part of the same song. This gives an idea of what Led Zeppelin could have been it they were still active in the 80s and 90s
In the Evening When the day is done I'm looking for a woman Oh , but the girl don't come So don't let her Play you for a fool She don't show no pity baby She don't make no rules Oh , I need your love I need your love Oh, I need your love I just got to HAVE ......
Let freedom ring! I love him just as much.. in any condition.. he can entertain me any day he feels up to it! I will take his slop over many of the most valiant efforts at guitar any evening.. my band .. my rock and roll.. my Jimmy Page.. there will never be another. 🤘🏻
How awesome is that. I've never seen any part of Carouselambra played live before. I've always heard that they were rehearsing it as part of the set for the U.S. tour in 1980. It would have been interesting to see what they would have done with it live. If only....
Would have been my first concert, I was in 7th grade and a huge Zeppelin fan. I was at the age where I was really wanted to see my hero's live. Doug Klien came into class crying, He said John Bonham died. My dreams were crushed. My first concert became AC/DC "For Those About To Rock" tour 1981 at Madison Square Garden in New York. It was incredible... it was deafening. My ears rand for days after that show.
I saw them live in Brisbane c 1974 I think, their only aussie tour, I was in the third row from the front and my hearing has never recovered--oh but what a loss --magic does happen, I thought that i was a shit hot player but when Jimmy Page played that night I felt like giving up--and Robert Plant whoaaaaa
Love the musician in the crowd the fella with the green long horn doing the desert sounds to give the song that authentic feel !!! Plant and Page were ahead of their time !!
I want to thank who ever uploaded this video to youtube. I had watched it several years ago and then for some odd reason it was taken out and I was crushed. Thank you again for making my day. I truly love this video.
I swear Robert Plant's singing in the 90's and after sounded better than 74-80 with Zeppelin! Really clear tone and surprising range into his old age and he's learned to master what he has without "pyrotechnic" extreme high-range singing.
He was damn strong in 77' as he got back most of his range and power during that tour. He even sang OTHAFA in the original register for one of the NY dates.
Oh shit - I'm just watching the beginning of this for the first time & just read your comment !!! I'm excited now !!! They were rehearsing Carouselambra to play on their 1980 US Tour, which we all know never happened ! I'm almost there
The last great music we'll get from Page/Plant was the UnLedded tour of 1995. Michael Lee, the Egyptian orchestra, it all added up to exceptional music. Jimmy Page needs talented people around him to be at his best.
His singing is improving here,so are his bisceps🤗😺😆nothing like leather pants & a Moroccan vest Robert. Looking smoking hot as usual babe🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧( me)
I saw dzepagain New Years Day with Derek Smith. I loved it! Took me back to Jan 25th 1975 almost 🤣🫶🏼😎🤘🏻💙they rockers for real.. imo.. especially Derek Smith ..who didn’t stop.. hit em so hard.. the whole show.. I was very impressed, delighted and entertained. They rocked me! Thank you again.. never stop!
My 2nd concert in the mid 80’s was Robert Plant. I was thinking how cool it would be if he played a couple Zep songs. He did, it was amazing. His young guitarist obviously was a huge Page fan because he nailed it.
@poussyledzep Yes, RIP Michael Lee. So sad to hear about him, so young. I loved his big drum sound with Page & Plant, Ian Gillan, and more bands of importance.
I saw Page Plant on tour back then. I don’t remember any of it. Was way too stoned. I know I had fun. I still wear my black Zoso baseball hat from that night, but yeah…somehow that concert has faded out of my memory. I’ve probably seen 300 concerts in my life so it comes with the territory. Along with the tinnitus that never stops ringing. 🤣🤣🤣
So glad you got to see P&P, but comments like this always leave me somewhere between confused and straight-up fascinated. Life is all about personal choice, and I’m certainly not here to be a buzzkill, but I cannot go to a show either too wasted or too stoned to remember it. I watch bands on stage like I’m studying for a final exam. I want to remember everything. Especially as much as good seats cost to pretty much every show no matter how big or how small the act. I’ll have my one traditional pre-show cocktail (double Maker’s and Coke) and that’s it. I want the memories to last as long as possible. Keep rocking, dude!
@@jtirello3_111 I agree with. Look, I saw the Grateful Dead over 100 times and was straight for most of them, and standing as close to the stage and as close to center as possible because I wanted to carefully watch and listen to everything. But there were plenty of concerts where the party atmosphere meant partying, and so it went. Like when I saw Pink Floyd do The Wall in LA in 1980, at 16 years old I knew I wanted to be straight for the experience. Every time I saw Yes, or Rick Wakeman solo, or Steve Howe solo, or Steve Hackett solo, those were true heroes and I wasn’t gonna let anything interfere. But Page Plant was one that harkened all the way back to junior high school, and that time in my life was a haze of pot smoke. So it went. Allman Brothers was another one where I was always in a partying frame of mind because that music took me all the way back to grade school and I just associated southern rock/blues with drinking and partying. It also has something to do with who I went to concerts with. If I was with a girlfriend I was likely to stay sober. If I was with my hard core partying friends from my youth, we were partying hard core. There were exceptions to all of these rules, but I don’t think I’d change much if I could go back.
can everyone just for a short time forget perfection of everynote and timing, look for the good - in everything of this art it's about the goof ups makes it funny, key word fun , we all do that , "all" of us , acdc sais it perfectly, think its easy playin one night stands try playin in a rock rock roll band,
