I feel sad for you i dont know why. When i was in gymnasium there was a kid in my class who suffers from stuttering. Everyone made fun of him except me. Because when i was 6 years old a guy who stutters tried to talk with me, and said never made fun of stuttering people, he said because stuttering has no cure etc. I'm 19 years old now and i met with another person who stutters a lot, but this time people are not making fun of his problem.

Paige! Find out an interesting text or book and try to read as slow as possible. Do this at least for 30 min to 60 min per day (having breaks often). In the meantime, you can stop speaking for 10 days and continue to practice slow reading. You can communicate by writing during these 10 days. After these 10 days, you should speak very slowly when you communicate with the other people around you. This will help you to improve dramatically your speech and to calm down significantly. I have applied this method many times and it works really better for me. Of course, I can talk about this topic for hours.

I think you have, especially, "I" sound block at the beginning. Try like deep breathe in, and relax sound like "um..e. .y...e " like this, not like you try say just "I" only. good luck! Are you stutter when you sing? If not, your stuttering is curable in my opinion.
First there are 3 main classes of stuttering: blocking, repetition, and elongating. Rather than substituting the word as you suggested; it's more beneficial to say the actual word. Singing only works because we know what we're going to say. Conversations are so fluid and unpredictable you can't prepare for it. What works on my case is to slow down my thought process.

Try not to use your feelings while you speak. You don't need to preview the speech on your jaw muscles, also you're so sensitive and emmotional. Simply this is the main problem. Change you tone a bit, try using some word (like) to escape when you are stuck.
