Once a Mulsanne chassis is complete it heads to the paint shop. From there, it is evaluated by a team of paint professionals who look for any blemishes, defects, or orange peel. After the polish, the cars head to the assembly line. The Mulsanne production line travels around the Continental production line within the Crewe factory, with 90 minute intervals for each stage.

Since i cannot reply directly to one of the naysayers, ill post here: Nowhere did /Drive state a similarity to a blank canvas. It is an automobile, however one with extreme attention to detail and craftsmanship. 600 man hours is no joke. I believe an Audi R8 takes about 150-200 man hours start to finish. They may not be on the level of Pagani, Koenigsegg or even Morgan, however for the number of vehicles they produce, these are definitely high quality bespoke automobiles.

This is the reason a Ferrari cost 5-6 times as much as a Corvette even if it's only 1/10 faster. And then you have all those people saying it's not 5 times better for the money. Quality. You want the best in life it's probably manufactured like this. Painstaking, time consuming and the best materials are used. The leather alone in a Pagani Huayra cost over $70,000. So even when other manufacturers say they get their stuff at the same shop, it's not the same quality leather or seats. It's the budget version. Or when they say they use carbon fiber in the dash, it's the budget version of carbon fiber. Same goes for everything.

It is not about the speed in any way. American cars are very bad, but very cheap, so it is kind of OK. But take away their speed and there is nothing left. Take away speed of ferrari, aston martin or other good manufacturer, you'll be left with soul, passion, style.

Sembrano tutti degli ingegneri sono dei normali operai ad una catena di montaggio con l'attrezzatura che hanno è capace pure un neonato. Sei forte quando quella macchina fa un'incidente e si distrugge e devi ripararla cioé smontarla, raddrizzare la scocca ,prepararla per verniciarla,verniciarla, rimontarla e lucidarla senza tutti gli attrezzi che hanno loro allora sei uno forte( tipo il carrozziere) che fa tutti giorni macchine che di quelle macchine non sa nulla

If you watch the video production of rolls royce compared to bentley, the folks at RR are more professional and the production floor is less cluttered , cleaner and quiet. In some episodes of these bentley series, you can actually hear some workers yelling and swearing in the background! unbelievable! just my observation.

There's nothing really unique about the way Bentleys are manufactured, these vids just serve to enhance the Bentley mystique. Bentley does a lot of stuff like that to make their cars seem exclusive. Just look at how much these cars depreciate and that should give you a better idea of the build quality.

I saw some american comments saying, that bentley are too expensive cars, which is stupid thing to say. But that rose a question - do americans believe, that hating other car manufacturers is patriotic? I've seen some commercials against "imports", but I thought, that americans are not stupid, like stereotypes say, and they value quality and therefore will see that american cars are really really bad (but cheap). But now I think, that americans really think, that american cars are good and imports are just too expensive cars not worth the money and not good at all. Please, some american petrolhead, say that this isn't truth, I can't believe, that americans actually believe that imports are bad, driving rubish american cars is patriotic and there actually are american cars that are better in any way then european or japanese or whatever. I mean, looking for worst car, USA would be obvious choice, it can't believe that americans are the only people so patriotic to ignore that. P.S. don't get offended, I like USA and I don't mind if you drive american car for it is cheap, I just want to hear petrolhead answering the question.

I can tell you the majority of cars where I live are imports because they are cheaper / usually more reliable basic models but they are usually models made from say Toyota but in the USA. American cars are usually purpose built for our needs (freeway driving and hauling large trailers) so they are perfect for that of course. Personally I drive two old imports as well as my brothers driving used imports. ... Also like have you not seen TUNED? Every other car Matt looks at is not American and I am pretty sure all those owners are 'petrol heads'.

Yeah, I was generalizing, which is not nice thing to do :D though, I don't understand american passion for guns and trucks, I really can't see whats that all about, but it is my fault, probably, I don't know something gun owners and truck drivers in USA know. Then you might as well answer my other question - if there are proper petrolheads, why your car shows are... Well, you know. I don't just mean TG USA, which is unbelievably bad, but some other youtube reviewers, who just don't provide us with such good quality as Europeans do. Well, I can watch /drive it is good, but most of them are weird, journalist don't get what Morgan, Spyker cars are all about, forget to mention weak points in american cars, when there still are a lot of them, even if they are getting better. I mean, if there are petrolheads, it means there is demand for good quality car journalism. My question might sound unclear, but I hope you can understand what I'm wondering.

chrisman324 Funny how we (mexicans) get generalized and disrespected all the time, I know how you feel haha, Although, I'm not the kind of guy who goes crazy about it and begins an internet fight, so I don't really care, but it feels bad when at least México produces a sports car and gets called a tortilla, and completely ignored while we wait for Top Gear to do a test and give it to Mr. Stig so he can show some numbers on the track. It's not a car that drives me crazy but I want to make my own sportscars some day and so I like the fact that my country is growing in that area.

Yeah, you see, I know, that it is good thing to have something to protect your family. In Lithuania you have right to own pistol or hunting rifle, if you have licence - you have to go through medical check, get police records about your criminal past and so on. It takes time and money, but you just have to get licence once, after that you can buy pistol. If you want to sell, you have to do it through institutions, so that guns wouldn't end up in bad hands. And these institutions always know, who and what gun owns. If you loose your gun or shoot it somewhere for your own entertainment, you will be punished. In USA things are much too simple, i think. And don't get offended, but saying, that pickup ownership is freedom, sounds to me like "I bath in milk, because I'm free person" :D That is probably just a matter of taste, because in Europe pickups are not popular at all and have in mind that our roads are in bad condition through winter, people go hunting and so on. So, that probably are just cultural differences and matter of taste, since I'm free person as well, we live in free society and pickup trucks for us represent farmers :D Not in a bad way - farmers need these trucks and we need farmers, but you get the idea.

I Iove this series, the workers talking about their processes, the interviews with management and the stunning filming. However the presenter asks the most stupid, repetitive questions at times & often sounds whiny. Shame.

I can appreciate the craftsman ship, care, and attention to detail that a product like a Bentley goes through, but this a people mover that is very very expensive. If I'm buying a six figure car I want it to feature things like carbon fiber everything, a 0-60 time that is unbelievably fast, a sound that makes you want to mate with it. Not wood trim and a bang and Olufsen stereo

I think the he early 20th century begs to differ! Packard, Dusenberg, Aubrun, Cord, Cadillac, and others met and surpassed the levels of quality available at Rolls Royce, Delahaye, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Horch/Auto Union, Hispano Suiza, etc. During the roaring 20's in particular, if you wanted the nicest car in the world, you turned to the 48 states, not Europe.
