seriously perfect. I watch and still don't understand how you get those glazing layers to turn out so utterly perfect. If only I could have you as a teacher .
Thank you so much! I paint with very thin layers, and soft brushes - very slowly building up paint. The OPEN acrylics mixed in with my regular ones also help with smoothness ^^
I really enjoy watching you draw and paint and get your thoughts~ It's so fun and inspiring for my own artworks. Also, you make me want to re-read Dracula. I wish for an illustrated copy of it by you ♥
I'm glad if my rambly art thoughts can inspire others! Thank you so much, and I hope you get to re-read Dracula soon (maybe join the Dracula Daily newsletters next year! :D)
Ah, this turned out so well! I think the limited palette worked out super well here. Mina is particularly beautiful. I also love how much thought you put into the details, especially your color choices for Dracula's skin, and Lucy's hands. Looking forward to your zine!
So happy to hear that you like Mina - her portrait was stuck in the "ugly phase" for the longest time, and then I was so glad when I managed to turn it around! 💙
This is beautiful! I want to reread Dracula now. I love your tones and control. You’re reminding me of how much I used to love acrylic paint, but having canvases all over was too much for me. I need to dive into the idea on using gels and such.
Thank you! I hope you find time for a reread - I'm following the Dracula Daily newsletters this year. :) The canvases were a big issue for me, too. They just take up so much space, but luckily, acrylics work just as well - if not better - on paper.
Im not a dark lover but I love your style of sketching and painting! I love the contrast of the warm of the fire and that bluish gray tones on the other side!!!! Love all the clothing painterly style! Is beautiful. I’ve been slowly desiring to learn acrylic because this type of painting is what I love!!!! You’re videos have definitely been an inspiration ✨❤️🔥 thanks!
Thank you!! I wanted this to be a nice balance of "dark fantasy" and also "Victorian historical setting" to represent the book, and loved playing with the color palette. Acrylics are a wonderful medium to paint with, especially if (like me 😂) you don't get things "right" on the first try - always able to paint over faces and details and build up layers.
I'm so glad you finally released this video, this is truly stunning! Personally I loved your rendition of Mina and the brides 💕 Absolutely wonderful! Please consider doing a 'Little Women' masterpiece soon?? Or Jayne Eyre? Think you'd bring them to life 😊⭐
Thank you so much! I was very worried about Mina - the "ugly stage" of her painting took a while to get out of... I love Jane Eyre! That would be amazing to give a try as a painting - just need to find an idea for a composition. 🥰
