Can you help a DIY dad with some suggestions on paint type for my daughters helmet? She went from the park to high school and they are very specific on the colors of the helmet. Hers is an all white helmet, with large pink decal colors, I need to change the decal color to purple. Seems like they’re heat treated on or something because I can’t take them off like a regular sticker. Should I tape it up, primer that decal area, and then color to purple. Anything would help, much appreciated
You can paint a decal, get the decal remade with correct colors unless you can mask the design up and paint/clear. Materials depend on how long will she use the helmet and how rough. For football players the helmet get destroyed quick so cheap paint is used...
Sooo we’re having to paint our helmet to match the team and our daughters head is smaller so she can’t just buy the color, anyway…. Do I have to sand to spray paint it? Or add a primer first and then the matte maroon?
I apologize for being a month late.. its a process, sanding, then prime, sand again if you want it smooth ,paint,clear... if you'd like you can send me a helmet and I'll spray it for a fee. I can even put your daughter's name or nickname on it.
