This is only the second bluegill I've carved.
The first one I carved was the second ever fish I carved and it was my first RU-vid video I posted.
So we'll see how far I've come when we see the difference between that one and this one when I finish.
If you have any questions feel free to drop me an email or leave them in the comment section. I hope you will enjoy this project and if you do please subscribe and hit that thumbs up button.
I'm happy to announce my new affiliation with Bear Woods Supply. Check them out here: bearwood.com/ for your carving tool needs. Use "Danny" for the promo code and receive 5% off any purchase.

Love the improvements you've made since your first Bluegill...so many details in both your carving and painting that most carvers omit.

Thanks, I’m still learning (always will be) and after I finish a piece I ALWAYS find something I think I should have done differently no matter how much I take my time. I usually stop at each stage of completion for a couple days and just look at the piece occasionally. I constantly Compare it with reference photos. Sometimes while watching Tv I may just set and hold it. I’ve even taken it to work with me and set it on my desk and occasionally look at it. Many times I notice something I need to change. But no matter how much I study it I seem to always find a mistake or realize a detail I should have added. But I generally remember on the next project to avoid the last mistakes or add detail I missed the last time.

Looks good Danny! This will be a competition piece, right? I'd be interested in seeing how you did the base, but if you don't want to show it, I'll check out your Facebook page.

Thanks Dan, I decided to use the one I had for this bluegill on another project. So I’ll do another one for this bluegill and make a short video on how I do it.
