Welcome to Danny Harris - Arts Wild Impressions Wood Carving and Painting
My passion for carving and painting wildlife art comes from my passion for the outdoors. I'm also an avid hunter and fisherman, So besides my wood carving and painting projects there may also be a few hunting and fishing videos as well as random wildlife videos.
My goal is to post at least 2-3 videos a month of my art work that will include wildlife wood carvings, paintings and drawings.
I’m new to posting videos on RU-vid and I am working on refining the channel content. Your feed back is greatly appreciated and will help me make this channel the best it can be.

Thanks Ron. I’m doing much better, they adjusted my BP meds and it seems to have it in control. I had started a diet of simply eating healthier and lost 17 pounds cardiologist and my PCP told me I need to keep losing. I’m currently down 30 pounds with a goal to lose 55 more. That’ll help reverse my diabetes and BP problems.
It’s an old BBQ rotisserie. It has a shaft with a square hole that the shaft that holds the food goes in. It was the perfect size of a 3/8ths bolt. I cut the bolt head off and was going to epoxy it in the hole but it was a tight enough fit that it wasn’t coming out. You may also find a rotary motor people use for rod building and wrapping guides
Thanks. I’ll be entering it in competition at the World Taxidermy and Fish Carving Championship this August in Iowa. I’ll be making a video of the trip. Hope you’ll watch for. I may take one on pickerel at some point. I’ve got a couple commission projects lined out. So when I get caught up I may attempt one.
Hi Danny just saw your giant Calico bass reproduction. That was amazing with all the colors. Couldn't tell the difference from a real Calico Bass, which is what we call them here in New Jersey I wanted to ask you have you ever painted a chain pickerel, I'd love to see your take on that's really cool fish! Could you please paint one carved out of wood?
Yeah I’ve heard them called that before along with several other names, white perch, sac-a-lait, speckled bass, strawberry bass, calico bass. Just depends on what part of the country you’re in. Here in Arkansas it’s just crappie. White crappie and black crappie. There’s also one with a pigment abnormality some people call a magnolia crappie. They have a solid black stripe down the top of their back down to their mouth.

Thank you I appreciate that. I’ve e pretty much gotten my BP in control and working on the weight. I’m down 30 pounds with a goal of 55-60 more. I can tell the difference, I had to put another hole in my belt. And I had started this video before I had started losing weight and put it on hold about half way through when the BP problem came up. When i picked it back up to finish i noticed when I was editing this video that my face looked a bit thinner 😜 Someone at work asked me if I’m losing weight also. So it’s starting to show.
I’m going better, the main problem was BP meds quit working and my BP got all jacked up. They’ve adjusted the dosage on the two I take and it seems to be helping. I may do a perch at some point. I’ve been trying to work my way through the popular species here in Arkansas. Got a few to go. I’ve got a flat head catfish, walleye and an alligator gar on my radar. We have perch but they aren’t very abundant here and not many are caught. I probably have only caught half a dozen maybe the last 50 years and I’d see them regularly back when I used to scuba dive in a couple local lakes that have them.
Thanks, had some good news the angiogram didn’t show any blockage. They just have to figure out why my PB is nearly stroke level high all the time. I still get winded even walking a few yards. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow I’m guessing they’re going to change my BP meds and tell me to drop 50 pounds 😖
@@Danny_Harris-Arts my wife is dealing with similar issues now. Due to some unrelated testing she was having done they found out she has kidney stones. They think it could be what’s elevating her BP.
@@shawnfreeman4768 I hope I don’t have kidney stones😳 I’ve never had them but my wife has and she has the pain threshold of a 22 year old Navy Seal and they had her on her knees almost screaming in pain. I think my biggest problem is I’m overweight and diabetic I also have sleep apnea but I use a CPAP religiously but it can still affect your blood pressure. I’m guessing they’ll just change my BP meds put me on Ozympic and tell me to lose 50 pounds
Hey Danny! For what it's worth, they've got the cardio world down to a real science. People in cardiology are the very best of the best! I had an aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve and a pacemaker to boot for 20 years now. I'm 66 years old and thankful for every new day. These things are nerve racking, but they'll have ya running marathons in no time. Good luck! Marty, SouthFork Originals and Western Art LLC.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I’m not really worried because I know God has everything in control. I’ve actually had an angiogram once about 5 years ago but there were no blockages. They eventually made an adjustment to my BP meds and added one and it’s been close to normal until about 3 weeks ago. My grandfather was the third person to have an artificial heart valve implanted and coronary bypass at the same time that was done by Dr Michael DeBakey who was one of the pioneers of open heart surgery. Arkansas’s Governor Rockefeller flew him to Huston in his private jet for the surgery. It actually made national news. I was 6 years old at the time but I remember seeing him off at the airport. He lived two more years and that was considered miraculous back then. I’m hoping for a best case scenario that I have no blockage and just need another BP med adjustment. But if I have a blockage I’m confident they can fix me up. I have one friend that has had 3 stents so far and another that’s had a widow maker heart attack and they got to him in time and did a quadruple bypass. That was 4 years ago and he’s still going strong.
@@michaelhanners6745yeah I’m doing much better, the angiogram was clear and no blockages. They’ve adjusted my BP meds and it’s starting to level off. Gotta lose some weight also. I’m down 20 pounds but have 55 more to go. Thanks for asking. I hope to get back to carving this weekend.
Good news there. Good luck to you losing weight but if you’re like and fry the crappie and bluegill you catch with the hush puppies to go with em it’s hard to lose weight. Looking forward to your next video.
looks pretty good, and also real👍 thursday in the early morning I travel to sweden. I never was there before. me and my brother want to fish some pikes and basses there. we drive about 800miles. I will write you a mail with some photos.(If i got a signal) I think of you and still wish you the best
hi danny, Im very sorry to hear that. please take you the time that it needs to feel better. We are all here still waiting for you with the same patience you have doing your artworks. i wish you all the best, get well soon. best regards from your penpal marvin
Thanks man hopefully they’ll figure it out when I go in this Thursday. The package I sent you was returned AGAIN😡 The post office here failed to attach a document of origin when I sent it last time. But they had me fill out another one and I watched while the lady attached it to the package. So hopefully it will be there in a few days. If it’s bent or crumpled when you get it just lay some flat heavy books on it for a few days and it should be fine. If you frame it get a frame with glass and it should look good.
I’ll be there unless this get worse. I’m thinking there’s just a blockage and they’ll put a stint in and I’ll be back to running marathons😜 be sure and find me maybe we can do lunch
From start to finish...how many hours? I ask, of course the number doesn't matter. My mother passed and the Hummingbird was her favorite. I'm a wood worker and carve. I want to give one to 7 family members. I appreciate your time.
It was the first and only one I’ve done so far so it probably took me longer than it will the next time 😜 But it took me 20-25 hours. I could probably do it in half that time next time because I know what to expect.
Mr. Harris, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. You may have said somewhere and I missed it. What kind of epoxy putty do you use? I’ve tried the dorsal fin technique you used and have more gap than fin in some places.
I use Apoxie Sculpt. I usually have a gap to fill but it also use it to blend the whole fin to the body. I have yet to master a clean fit and finish on fins 😜
Thank you much. I really enjoy your work and appreciate your help. But I will say you have cost me a considerable amount of money. Wood, sanding sticks, air brush apoxie sculpt…..😂
I use several different ones. I have some size 000 and I also use micro Qtip type applicators. I show them in this video if you’re interested in watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tft4zJSgC-Q.htmlsi=AP9RZNrD9C7wXUcY
