i suggest you add some pewter looking painted accents to the dresser drawer area and/or the top or top edge of the top to coordinate with the new drawer pulls. i just prefer that accent colors be extended to several areas on pieces of furniture. the top loos a little gray to me as is, and i envision it being painted to match even better with the hardware which looks like pewter to me.

I have only ever stained or used whitewash on natural timber or timber veneer. As you’re wanting to pick up the wood grain best results come from not priming or lacquering before hand in in my opinion. Also, and I know a lot of people don’t like the hassle, but particularly where veneers are concerned, I tend to use wood stripper rather than sanding, only because there is less chance of sanding through, and with newer furniture veneers are a lot thinner than they originally were. If it were me I would probably refinish the top, having said that it’s not actually that bad either.

love the top! Question for you re using the shellac as an adhesive primer...does it work on plasticfoil particleboard (like Ikea cabinets) & shiny (scuff sanded) surfaces like arborite? Thank you!

I wonder if using BIN primer to get a white canvas and then spraying shellac on top of BIN is an overkill🥴😁?

Hey Andrew, I usually use around a pint to a quart for this size. Depends on the color of the paint and how many coats you need. But a quart should be plenty. A pint might be cutting it close.

Yup...I'm with you. I'm not loving the top. I love the colour you concocted but the top is not doing it for me. I think if it was all the same colour that it would look 100% the bomb. Other than that, great job. Can't wait til we get to see your husband's tall boy dresser.

I just started using a paint sprayer (wagner flexio 3500) and I'm noticing a lot of bubbles when I spray. Any suggestions on how to avoid these? I did not thin my paint. Could this be why? Thank you! I loved the colors you picked for the dresser.
