Don't forget to remove the striker channel liner if you are using the heat method instead of air cure. Worth saving the possibility of it melting, otherwise decent technique.
@@CaptainBerz You are right that it would "most likely" not hurt it, but not everyone is as familiar with the tools and then techniques of even heat distribution, so for me better safe than sorry. The Firing Pin Channel Liner SP01148 replacements can be found for 5-7$ online. But atm it might be better to remove than count on getting one replaced if you only have the one firearm.
This is a great video just for breaking down a glock! Thanks!! It's been 2 years since we've done this and wanted to upgrade so this reminded us of several things. THANK YOU !!!!
The title is a little misleading....I thought I was going to see a slide painted....the title should say “The process I used to paint a Glock slide”....
CaptainBerz Should say Glock slide paint prep. I was wondering why you were leaving on your decals while taping your slide. Only after you reveal your not actually painting. And instead of taping your sights they should just be removed.
I painted over the extractor with a marker, some ink may have gone inside the extractor hole, would this cause failures to feed? Cause i went to the range with 150 rnds and 6 rnds failed to feed.... i have never had this problem in the past, wonder if its the ammo or the paint
That skateboard grip tape is genius, i rack the slide on my training gun with foreign objects to practice one hand manipulations, the tape there helped with using my hands as well and quieting that noise when I rack it on something . I know this is years late but thank you haha
Very good point. With an " Air Cure," it wouldn't have been an issue, but Definitely should be mentioned for a bake, even at a "low" temp since the channel liner is thermoplastic. Even if you can't afford the right tool, a 5/16 will thread and remove..but will also probably destroy the current one, but they're $5 so worth replacing rather than trying to remove a blob of melted plastic and delaying your Mod/Build.
Thank you very much for this video. I have a tiny question please, Can we use any paint to repaint the slide? or does it have to be a special kind of paint, where I live, we don't have high-end spray paints.
Like to see someone paint the mag release, or get a cool.extended one to match, the pins, barrels slide, and the slide stop and slide release ect. A full color coordinated pistol with matching small pins, buttons, and every the recoil spring that show out of the end of the slide under the barrel.
I'm getting ready to pain some gun parts on my s2k, including a muzzle brake. I did some research and heard a lot of good things about this spray paint called Dupli-Color Engine paint, enamel with ceramic added to it. Supposedly what a lot manufactures use to paint car engines. Not only is it durable, it's supposed to hold up to high heat, and it comes in a lot of colors. I'll post how it went after I am finished with the project.
@@CaptainBerz Well, Capt Butz, if clickbait is the objective, just show big boobs and say, "get some paint and do stuff, blah, blah". The title I saw was "Painting a Glock Slide", as in the action verb; not, "Let Me Tell You a Story". If random jiberdy jabery is the objective, why are you so rude? Just sayin'
@@CaptainBerz just seen this but if you make a fucking tutorial video my guy use every piece of information in that video of course everybody don’t know how , that’s why they’re here you dumb fucks.. why post a tutorial then ask a dumbass question like that to someone that is viewing your content ? I should smack you idgaf if this is 2 years ago you definitely getting a dislike now
I watched it again on my tv so I could REALLY see the slide and it looks a tad bit Like 600 grit sand paper type finish, I have painted at least 10 slides but with durakote "aerosol can" maybe it just looks that way threw video?
lol you know those guys who add flame stickers and badges on their car to make it seem fast instead he didn’t do anything but make it look like ass.... this is the gun version. no better than a stock Glock except you didn’t leave a single thing to be done haha
Cassidy, you should be a designer, it would be awesome. All cars would be the same color, all clothes we wear would be required to be drab grey, and all our homes would be the same color according the neighborhood you live in. Down with freedom of expression!! DERP.
Thanks for the fantastic video. If you need parts, I get top shelf parts for my Glock at close to wholesale prices from spectresupply2 on ebay and spectresupply1 on Gunbroker. They have way more parts on ebay, but things like frames on Gunbroker. I've bought tons of parts from them. They buy out big manufacturers' overstock and then sell it for a huge discount. Probably once a month or so, I check them out - they're always getting new stuff. They also have 1911, AK, Sig and other parts.
