Easter as the most joyous holiday is loved even by those who are not religious or belong to other religions, precisely because of the custom of coloring eggs. Children especially look forward to painting. There are many ways, and this video shows how we can color them with natural foods. We got earthy, beautiful shades, and I believe that it will be especially meaningful to beginners because each step is clearly indicated. Be sure to write how you like to paint them and which paint helps you the most.
YELLOW-COOKING EGGS IN TURMERIC
Put eggs at room temperature in a pan, pour water and add 2.3 tablespoons of turmeric and cook on medium heat until it boils. Then remove from heat, cover and leave for 10-15 minutes, then leave uncovered for some time (up to an hour) so that the eggs are as yellow as possible.
If we want a marble effect: cut into small pieces of paper, put them in a nylon stocking, then inside the egg (so that it is covered with pieces of paper) and tie tightly. The cooking process is the same.
BORDEAUX/COPPER-COOKING IN LUKOVINA
Chop the onion, wash it, put it in a pot, add the eggs, cover with water and cook as explained above. For a marble effect: put paper and finely chopped onion in a sock, insert eggs, tie and cook. The video shows how not to cut the sock every time, but how to string the eggs. It's more practical :)
PURPLE - COOKING IN RED CABBAGE
My favorite way because it gives a beautiful dull purple color. Cut the cabbage into larger pieces, put eggs on top, pour water and cook as before. For the marble effect, the principle is the same as with turmeric, a little paper in a sock...
GREEN - COOKING IN BLUE CHIPS
Children's colored snacks, more precisely blue chips, put in water with eggs and boil. Add the turmeric at the end until it turns greenish and let it sit until the eggs take on the color. And these pistachio greens are beautiful to me!
Enjoy painting, and don't forget, when it tastes the best, it's Mmm BRE!
