@@jillwintz379 Absolutely the best, and so often overlooked or classified as not as good as Astaire and Kelly. Someone recently commented on one of his RU-vid videos that likely there were many people who looked at him, saw that he was tall, blond, and handsome, and figured he couldn't possibly be a superb dancer who should be rated with the best, and just dismissed him. I think that's very likely true. As far as I'm concerned, he was the best of the best. A book should never be judged by its cover.
The fabulous trumpet work was done by Ziggy Elman, section mate of Harry James in the Benny Goodman band of 1937-1938. I knew it was Ziggy immediately upon hearing the performance, but I got external confirmation by doing a little online research on who dubbed for whom in what movie.
@@pauletheridge2412 More Elman soundtrack material (both with Tommy Dorsey and both fabulous): "Hawaiian War Chant" and "Well Git It." Both on RU-vid, as is the Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall version of "Swingtime In The Rockies," on which Ziggy just about blows the roof off the place.
