Watching you at work always gives me a lot of positive energy. Even if I never paint anything, I'm going to watch and listen to your recordings anyway, because it has a soothing effect on me. I love when you pull shapes out of the chaos of spots, it's a bit like unwrapping a Christmas gift, waiting joyfully for surprise. Positive :)
From the US - Thanks again for all you do! It's amazing! I love the statement that water is not always blue but the color of the sky. I just have never thought of it that way. Thanks.
I love your phrase “ let the paint do the work for you” and the beginning phase “ just establishing the shapes” - its always a very open and joyfull moment - and just putting the first colors and shapes are the beginning of the joyfullmoment of creating with oil color - just love it
I use lens wipes and they dry quite quickly after use. They are strong enough and when scrunched up, have great textures in the wrinkles. I’ll be keeping them from now on.
Another very pleasant video and usual not just what you learn from your very own style but your wonderfull comments as you go on and sense of humor to life. Great. Thanks.
Hello Stuart from the US. Haven’t stopped to say hello in a while. Hope you and your family are ok. I so admire the painting your working on now. We’re still having trouble in California with COVID 19. I don’t know if I told you, my husband was in the Navy and he took me out on the Aircraft Carrier he was on called a wives day cruise. I got to see so many colors of the water and sky, then all would change. Wonderful experience. Well, you and yours stay well. Donna
I’m a newby to your channel. Very refreshing and clear instruction. What a wonderful relaxing way to paint. I have now done a search and will gradually work my way through your entire back catalogue. For me you have become the silver lining in the Covid cloud!
I enjoyed hearing you thinking about creating your Saturday zoom classes, and “waiting for America to wake up”. Having attended one and hopefully more, I’m grateful you followed through. ☺️ I spent 25 years as an instructional designer meeting crazy deadline after crazy deadline, so relate to your story. I just realized that background may be why I adore your painting approach now. It’s a lovely meander rather than an express train.
Thank you Stuart for another phenomenal painting. It certainly is a way to not watch the news or our election here in the United States and covid-19 I'm sick of all that and I love your artwork thank you very much Stewart once again.
First time I watch your videos. 2 1/2 hours later!!!! I am impressed Stuart. I enjoy your quiet voice as well.... It helped me to me more creative and umpulsive with my brush strokes!!! loved it. Thank you. Helene
Thank you so much, Stuart. I can't tell you how much I look forward to your videos. Your time, skill and ability to simplify are greatly appreciated. Hope you feel better soon, and look forward to part two.
Find your paintings fascinating and really enjoy your video s . I find them really helpful and reassuring,! I also find your voice very soothing and enjoy your little asides whilst creating!
Very nice demo Stuart! Can't wait to see the finished piece! Nice tips on painting water! I have to say I love your work! Such a modern Tonalist/Impressionist Master!
I find this whole painting water mesmerising. After capturing images of a cavernous dark roundish, quarry pool, with a blue sky above and golden light reflections on smooth rock walls surrounding it, I so wished I could paint. However, as a novice painter it has been frustratingly difficult. Your technique is right up my street and I am spellbound! Thankyou, Ali . Mid Wales UK
I love your style of painting. I would love to be able to paint like you do! Someday perhaps I'll come to France and take your class! Your voice is beautiful, like Anthony Hopkins.
Hi Stewart, let’s hope that you knock the virus on it’s “proverbial but” so that you can continue painting as magnificently as always. I love learning about the techniques you use and I try to do the same.
Glad to see you’re back, Stuart. Very relaxing to watch. As a former ad agency copywriter in NYC (Ogilvy, BBDO), I can relate to your comment about demanding clients and tight deadlines! I hope you post Part 2 soon! I’m very much looking forward to seeing the painting evolve.
Watching this interesting video on the subject of water, 3rd Nov. 22. Apparently was uploaded by Stuart approximately two years ago. Still a beautifully created piece of artwork with great detail for constructing a painting. Thank you once again Stuart for your lessons in paint they are always so informative. Also I really loved the past artworks you showed near the beginning of this video. Such mastery, I and many others I'm sure, have often wondered why your focus these days, is predominantly pure landscape. This of course is one reason why I am an avid listener/follower of your tutorials. Hope your continuing to keep as well as possible and resting plenty when needed. I get great pleasure from watching you paint and listening to all that you have to say about your thoughts and your artistic process 👍🌞😇
This was a good lesson - can't wait for the conclusion! Thank you. I think I learned a lot as am basically self taught and been doing it all my life. Love your voice, way, and humor. Made my evening complete! Peace
Thank you Stuart for showing us how you paint water which is definitely an interest of mine, although for me painting clouds is my favorite part. I'm excited to see part 2 of this one!
And I love the transparency that emerges with your use of the palet knive “ like ironing a shirt” - just very sensuel way of catching the light and the movements of light and darkness - very beautifull indeed and you show your way so very clear - I really love the feeling of this Landscape. Its just so beautifull and very dreaming 🍀💚🐸🦋
It’s always a joy to watch your videos. Thank you for uploading, was going to save this for later, but will just watch it again later! You and yours stay safe 🤗
Your voice is always beautiful...No worries.. I love the way you explain the how too. Please never stop being on youtube because people like me would never be able to learn because we couldn't afford the lessons. You are such a gift to people like me that love to paint. I will never stop learning and I hope you never stop teaching.
Thank you Stuart, for a truly wonderful tutorial, I find your voice very soothing and your words very constructive and l’ve learnt so much from you,. This painting is already shaping up to be yet another masterpiece, thanks for sharing your time on RU-vid.
I should be sleeping right now having finished a very long night shift, but couldn't being myself to pause/stop Happy to spend an hour watching Stuart. Great piece of art so far and great commentary as ever . Really looking forward to the second part. Thanks.
This video was a fabulous way to end a stressful day. The painting is beautiful without the sky. I can't imagine how much better it will be when complete. I'm sure it will be amazing!
Thangs again Stuart, I enjoyed it and will try to make something like this one myself. But then, I need the second part, so I hope it will be coming soon. Appreciate you taking all this time to help us along.
Thanks so much for the video; I've been looking forward to it! I am going to paint this style tonight. Wonderful tips always, thanks again, Dear Stuart!
I’ve always appreciated Welita. I’ve always assumed the company had integrity. That assumption is based on first the visuals related to their products. And secondarily as a user of those great products.
😃 This made my evening after a tough couple days. Ty so much. It must’ve been frustrating to find you hadn’t any sound after working on a painting video tutorial for us. Perhaps you can narrate it at a later time? Either way, I’m delighted to watch this one. By the way, I do look up artists you mention & look at their work. I really like what James Naughton is doing. I came across a Russian landscape artist named Yuliy Yulivech “Julius” Klever from the a romantic period, & is known for his mystical, romanticized Russian landscape paintings. The one I find most compelling is titled, “Winter Sun Dawn,” 1892. I liked many of his paintings. I don’t know how to say it really, but his work does have this mysterious compelling sort of atmosphere to them. Some really stunning work. Considered a Russian Master if anyone’s interested in looking him up.
@@PIXARTRA indeed he does not. I’m just trying to watch many landscape artists to learn as much as I can as I have no formal background in art. I was a science major who had a single art history class on the Baroque & Rococo period. I’m playing catch up now 👩🎨
This is a very good video with many tutorials. It was also interesting how a detail in the form of the trees on this hill was added to the left side with a slight movement. I'm going to watch the next episode now. Many thanks!
Beautiful. Less dramatic than your usual paintings but there is still part 2.... Love it. Can't wait for 2020 to be over? I think we are all with you there!
I find your voice so calming. Your videos bring my stress levels down after particularly busy days. Although I don't work in paints you make it seem like I could paint something.
Love watching you paint. I’m thinking more and more to try oils. A friend wants me to paint a picture, and I’m new at it. He likes landscapes, and old buildings. You make painting look so easy. I’ve found at first I’m a bit uneasy, and then loosen up when it’s not working....seems once I let go things get better. Lol 😊
Yay! A water painting!! I learn so much watching your videos!! Wish I wasn't a "starving artist" so I could go to your retreats, but for now your videos will have to do. And that's fine.. bc I truly enjoy them.. and you have taught me so much!
23:20 ... saplings Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos Stuart. You've inspired me to pursue the art of oil painting and your approach has helped free the artist within.
Hello Stuart, With regards to your Q tips! I have just tried one of those pointed rubber tipped pottery tools to render trees and grass works a treat! All the best.
Mr. Davies, in America the towels that are best for wiping off the painting as you are, are called shop towels. They are blue, and are also purchased at the hardware store. Probably our best substitute for what you use,
