I like the finish it gives and the ability to do something very few others do. I cam across it by accident and loved it. So that's why i have used enamel paints ever since.

Hi WOW AM I SOO GLAD I FOUND YOUR SITE! I am a mixed media artist. I have been watching soooooooooooooo many abstract videos. I have brain FOG… it takes me at least 12 brushes.. and a catalyst or 2 .. I am sooo tired of washing it all off every time. I don’t even think the pictures are worthy.. Meeting you this looks so much fun. Cause I was about to give this work up. I honestly couldn’t think that this has to be soo hard. I think me being a mixed media artist was hard this was off the charts. I am soo hopefully that what I am viewing will be as simple well not simple .but .. I want to try ur way. Thank good for you🌻

What were the paints that you were using facemask? I mean, should I use facemask when using acrylics?

No you don’t need a mask for acrylics. I use enamel paints which are toxic

Thank you! When you mean consistency are you just asking how tick or thin it is? If so, that's a bit tricky to assess as I'm not sure how to quantify that. Semi-gloss paint is thicker than gloss but then the colours differ from each other a lot so it's really hard to come up with any meaningful answer!

Often when I watch your videos, there are two voices with a slight lag between! Do you what that could be? It's takes away a bit of the enjoyment of the videos.

Yes Gail - we know about that. We have a gradual decay on the mics (still trying to figure out why) so we have to pull them and reset them whilst we stream (providing we can remember!). We're always trying tweaks and upgrades to solve the issue so thank you for bearing with us. I really hope to solve it one day!!!

My only experience in using a squeegee is to remover water from glass. How does it spread the paint without removing it?

It just does! The trick is not to be too firm with hand pressure as you spread. You'll figure it you!

No, just whatever you think is right. That’s a uniquely personal thing and changes every time you paint. Sure, there are certain principles that work because of how we are programmed as humans. But you can do whatever you want.

Is 'Swarez' a variation the Portuguese/Indo-Portuguese last name 'Suarez'/'Suares'/'Soares'? I myself have a couple of Soareses in my family.

It was never intended to be linked to any national name - it was simply a nickname given to me by a friend many years ago and it stuck! At the time I had no knowledge of its origins - but good to know all the same! Thanks.

@@SwarezArt Yes, it is super interesting, isn't it. Just found out that the Portuguese version of the name is spelled 'Soares', whereas the Spanish version is 'Suarez'. For a moment there I thought you had a Lusitanic connection, which would have been super cool. 'Soares' is a common last name for Goan Catholics in India, and as you may know, Catholicism was brought to the sub-continent mainly by the Portuguese via their colonisation of Goa. Greetings from India, by the way. Love your videos! Intro's and hellos etc are an important part of the stream when we broadcast live as those who do, like to feel part of the event. So it is courteous to read and acknowledge comments and questions as well as go through the usual things in case people are joining us for the first time. On replay then of course it makes sense to go to the painting bit. We have, in more recent times, sped up the intros and got on with creating a lot quicker so we are always open to feedback to help us improve. You are also welcome!

Thanks for the feedback Kirk - it all depends on what I am trying to achieve. So the answer is both yes and no! Sometimes, if I don't base coat and have only a minimal or organic application of paint then bare canvas will show. That's not often but it happens. I like the raw nature of the canvas and it can definitely be a 'thing' on occasions. Most of the time though I do try to cover everything first, but not always!

On this one Robert, i was using a water-based enamel paint rather than a solvent based one. Not my favourite i admit, but they work okay once in a while.

We have worked a lot on this in recent months. It's better without a mask overall but i can't use those pints all the time so have to wear a mask all the rest of the time.
