The worst offender is the lack of falloff ink makes it horrible, that basically means that you won't be able to pain your feet and only the surface that the shot hits is inked
I think its worth noting that chinese bootlegs aren't only for cash grabs (though partially obviously), the main thing is that for a while pretty much every video game was banned, and even if you could import/pirate, most had no translations. So thats why chinese bootlegs are so common, or used to anyways, you see a lot less of them as restrictions have loosened up over the years. Though it's also worth noting that splatoon 3 does have a chinese version now so this can now be considered a shameless cash grab
OMG. I actually played this Bootleg ver. of Splat, 6 years ago when I was 11. There were only 2 Specials, a rip off Bubbler and a rip off Inktstrike and like 4-5 weapons. It's actually crazy how this game has changed. Totally loved it seeing this again.
I REMEMBER THIS GAME! While everyone was waiting for Splatoon 3, I found this game on youtube and dove a little deeper into it. Of course, I didn’t play the game at the time since I had Splatoon 2, but it was still incredibly interesting to watch and see how a mobile game company could completely rip off Splatoon. I’m really glad this video came out lol. Paintman Go is such an interesting topic to me, one that I haven’t seen anyone else talk about yet. While it was a long wait (especially in the discord lol) it was still worth it. Also I’m glad you went back to the beyblade outro music again, that goes hard.
I thought they were just going to copy the concept of the game. I was shocked by the fact that the stages were also copies of actual Splatoon stages. I am also amazed by how similar some of the music is. Very interesting video!
Yeah I know right??? It's so crazy to me that a company just not scared at all to steal stuff from Nintendo. Maybe because it's only in China? I wonder what it'll be like when it actually releases in America.
The 3D character designs look super similar to the ones from Ninjala. I guess they had to find something else to ripoff or they'd have no game left lol.
Bootleg games really fascinate me, I kinda love them for how absurd they are. I was looking for a high-quality video about Sepia/Paintman GO literally just last week but couldn't find much, so I was excited when this appeared on my homepage. Great video, man!
The fact Nintendo just endebted some poor guy for life for homebrewing and selling consoles and this company got away with copying an entire game for 6 years.
What’s wild to me is that Sepia Go is the first, well-known Splatoon ripoff game I’ve heard about, and seen videos of, and it’s STILL being developed to this day, under a different name now, is absolutely nuts💀 And yet, Crayola Scoot is also a close 2nd after this. (Even if I’m not sure if it’s even classified as a ripoff of Splatoon, or not.) I’d rather play, or have Splatoon Island as an official mobile Splatoon game than Sepia Go/Paintman Go.
Tbh I think if people made some of the characters actual Inklings and Octolings along with their weapons that’d be cool I also love how they have both a robot special and a robot form, geez, Crab Tank really has taken over
Hmm... Ive always thought of a Splatoon animated series. After I watched the Mario movie with some friends, we talked about the possibility of a Splatoon movie and that would be pretty cool.
This actually makes me giggle. I have had the thought of making a splatoon fan game bc I have so many ocs of so many species, so I thought it could be a fun passion project. But I fear it looking like this HAHRGHFJAG
I'll tell you what this horror reminds me of. Ever seen those knockoff Amiibo cards that you can find online? Some do use official art, but others use some rather unsettling and uncanny drawn art that is meant to look juuuuuuust different enough to let you recognize them.
I remember watching videos of a game like this, and I even remember that the "squidform" was a robotic bettle of some sort. It is just so funny to see all the extend of bootlegs, and honestly, it is kinda impressive the amount of work there. It makes you think that, to get a good game like splatoon, it took so much work and effort, so it feels 10 or 20 times better than these bootlegs.
The older version that had storymode had “piglings” instead of octolings, i have alot of information on the older version of the game if you wanna get into contact
Im not surprised that someone like you found the game The thing about the dev team tho is The team who was working on the game from 2016 to 2019, they gave up on the game and gave the IP to the other dev team its also why the game has the "Hero selection" MOBA going on plus a different artist. As a person who played the older generations of this game in "sepia go" days Today i feel like this game has went to a very giant downfall in my opinion, i dont like the hero selection, i dont like how the games art looks.. I just kind of miss the older generations rlly. Also the footage you showed in 11:28 was from 2018-2019 build or most likely 2021 before "the hero selection" it still used to have the customization system. Anyway i hope this helped to clear little bit more information!
Wow! Thanks for all of that information!! That definitely clears a lot of it up! I can really see that the game kind of had a downward spiral and was curious why. Yeah, Sepia Go was a clone, but it at least worked decently, Paintman GO just seemed so bad compared to it. I really appreciate your comment! Thanks again!
@@NackSploon one more thing, the first Sepia go didnt had stolen assets but most of the stuff were made from scratch which its extremely surprising how they made the very accurate game models and they had a game tester and where they posted game testing videos in youku a video media website. Unfortunately the game tester had to go, the game also has bot players so dont be so surprised if the gameplay is very dull and boring since the game itself wasnt even able to be uploaded in other app stores like 9games, Taptap, or even 1499games (or 1399 games idk).
NGL I'd like to have a charger with splashdown, would be good to get rid of people getting close to kill you in the backline, as a panic button. But yeah it would be kinda useless most times, a bit like ink vac.
True! That's good idea actually. Maybe like just one charger with splashdown for those who want it! I just find it funny that every single one has it in this game.
@@NackSploon The worst offender is the lack of falloff ink makes it horrible, that basically means that you won't be able to pain your feet and only the surface that the shot hits is inked
Taking everything into consideration, I have to ask, *why Splatoon specifically?* Of all things to blatantly copy, you decide to stick to Splatoon and refuse to let it go even after one take down from the official company. Why.
Honestly I might give this game a shot. the connection seems a lot more stable than Splatoon 3. What's a few dozen viruses right I think that's worth being able to finish a match
Ngl,watching this video brings me back to when i was younger...i was unable to afford a wii u for splatoon 1 and splatoon 2 i belive hadn't come out yet. So me and friend's would just records random lets plays episodes of sepia go from time to time. I understood that it was a bootleg (or at least i hope i did) but i just wanted a way to play some kind of splatoon like game. So thanks for reminding me about the fond times i had with this knock off splatoon game. Also fun fact, back in the day they actually made the micro transactions so poorly, just clicking the button to buy gems and backing out i believe gave you the gems with out paying for them.i forget what version this was in but im pretty sure it was when they used splatoon assets cuz i had i belive every weapon
Update,so i went digging though my channel and found a video showcasing the money bug Heres the video m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B1IT2QvNKGE.html&pp=gAQBiAQB ,i also made a playlist of my gameplay if anyone is curious about it,just mute the audio since i cringed alot re watching them years later but heres the playlist as well ru-vid.com/group/PL4Br6RDPmPv0N70UCV4WIzLULgMub42X-
I remember back when only splatoon for the wii u was around and I loved it so much. I also remember watching some footage of sepia go and I felt physically ill, it was so draining to watch
A bit dramatic, but there’s something just so weird and uncomfy about seeing a crappy soulless version of something you love. I immediately had to get a dose of real splatoon to feel better
i actually think the character at 4:50 miiiight be a reference to ladybeard, a pro wrestler/singer known for his cross-dressing persona. tho it's still weird why he'd be referenced in a bootleg mobile splatoon game of all things
damn, last time i heard anything about paintman go was ~2 years ago, cant believe it's STILL kicking, it's like the small robot cockroach in the corner, it's there and cephalokind just ignores it hoping it'll go away but it never does. i had a surprising amount of fun playing older versions, admiring how much effort went into a bootleg, and i once again admire it's resilience and refusal to shut down. it's such a fascinating bit of software.
Remember Crayola Splash? Well we have found the sequel Ladies And Gentlemen. Your content is really outstanding for a small channel such as yours! I also like your little Splatoon original character as well! You should (now that i do indeed mention it) make a video about Crayola Splash if you have not done it already. That would be an amazing video for it. Keep up the good work. And i do indeed hope you reach your RU-vid Subscriber Milestones soon!!!
there's also another bootleg called Splatoon island. Where the adults are.. doing mini games in the pool. And the inklings or octolings don't have bones. They have ink instead, and since ink is washable (sometimes), they can drown and die. It's a trailer tho. it's goofy lol
Yeah I will definitely just continue playing Splatoon 2 until I get Splatoon 3 over this hot garbage. A award for risking the time in your life to record and review this game that wants money and is just a rip-off. Small edit: Just wanted to say I really like the Inkling, looks great.
