We learned the chorus of this song growing up from our dear Mother, we sung it at our Mother's funeral just 8 days ago as a Special Number. I sing this song now everyday and sometimes I cry because she was a very loving MOTHER and she lived 5 months shy of her 100th birthday. I miss her most especially today, it's MOTHER'S DAY. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY in paradise MOTHER, I love you very much.
I remember as a kid @ 8 yrs maybe 9 yrs old I walked in and saw my dad crying to this, as a kid I didnt understand it, I wish I could turn back time to put my arms around him and just say "I understand", hes no longer here but the song keeps him here with me, beautiful lyrics...I am 47 and the song has never left me from the first time I heard it.

My Nana used to sing this to my mum and Auntie and uncles when they had been naughty as children. I played this to her a few months before she passed away from ovarian cancer in 2011. How I miss my Nana. Today is her birthday. She would've been 72. You will always be in my heart Nana.
