Most 240v VFD's will run a 3 phase motor as long as you double the HP of the motor. Bigger is usually better but gets exponentially more expensive. A 10 HP drive will run a 5 HP motor.
I really appreciate the videos! I purchased one and I'm working on the same set up. I want to get mine a stretch from the shed like yours. What size cable did you run from the panel to vfd and vfd to screener?
Mine has 10-3 SO cable to the vfd and 12-4 SO cable from vfd. There are a lot of wire size calculators on the internet for the distances you need. Should be about 9 amps to vfd and 4.5 amps out. If it has the same motor as mine. I would buy a 1 1/2 HP vfd if I were to do it again. But mine runs great at 30hz.
you will also know if its running backwards because the screener will move backwards. when its running correctly it will stay in place. to reverse direction just switch any two hot wires.
I got off it off eBay. WEG VFD CFW300A04P2S2NB20 200-240V / 1PH 1HP is the one i purchaseed for about a $125 nib. i would purchase a larger one maybe 1.5 hp as mine doesn't let it run at 60hz. but it operates well at 30hz and keeps it within rated amps. Automation direct is a good source and they are very helpful with any questions.
there is an excellent video explaining the phases at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jN7oxvO6Pc.htmlsi=_p8TmcvbRBIVfZV. i will try to post a picture of my configuration later. mine is wired star configuration. about at 2:30 in the video.
I've only been able to use mine for about 30 yards of topsoil it's been too wet it just turns to mud. What broke? It seems to be made with quality parts and the welding is very good. Mine runs at half speed also so it's less violet. But works great when dirt is dry.
@SharpExcavation those screens are designed to be bent at the edges, rest in a frame, and be pulled under tension to achieve strength. My mounting tabs broke off at the wire and all the diverter pieces vibrated loose. Bolts on the motor also vibrated loose and now it has quit as well....
