Me: RU-vid: hey wanna see a goth girl sing a not-goth music video from two years ago, even though you haven't watched anything even remotely related to it yet we're still recommending it? Me: sure why not
It's like she's so sick of this shit and she knows it, and she's awake enough to tell you that, but not much more, because she's sick of it. It's just not there. What? it's dead. dead. what? Stop abusing me. I don't want to play. GO away. Ugh. whatever.
They kinda have a cure vibe, and weren’t they one of the first groups to be called “goth”? Goth wasn’t always punk and metal so the look makes sense to me lol
It's very Cure derived but I'll suspend my judgements and give them time. This song is a good jumping off point but they need to fire the mixing engineer and producer asap unless they want to wind up in the "80's revival trash bin".
i love that shot of her through the doorway, as if you're peeking out from the hallway and listening. it's a visual that gently and slightly moves the tone to a more longing feeling.
blahhhhhh I am going to puke...no taste in music. The two guys with the guitar and bass need to see a little bit of Slash to learn how to perform like a rocker and not like nauseatic "beings"
Right! A well timed eyeroll can be very endearing. As a manager of a seasonal halloween shop, i was asking these terribly corporate questions i was supposed to ask during each interview. During one of the more partarciularly bootlicking corporatists questions, they gave me an eyeroll that would, if they were being interviewed by anyone else, be considered something to not hire them over. But the unconscious rebelion in the eyeroll.... it was beautiful. It showed I was going to be working with an individual, not someone who will just blindly follow orders. Not only did I hire the person, but they did a great job. Smart. They were made a shift supervisor, essentially 3rd in command. It was a fun season.
This song goes out to my roommates from my last semesters in college. We used to just sit, get stoned and show each other music videos. This came up in my suggestions one day and we loved it
Correct lyrics Everyone's getting so high Losing their minds And I'm looking for you, looking for you I don't even know what I'm doing here Why won't you just tell me? Kept seeing this thumbnail so finally gave it a listen. 1st I didn't expect the band to sound like this. 2nd I didn't expect the song to be a love song and 3rd is her voice. She has the voice of a goddess and yeah I'm a fan now. Totally mind blown by this song and damn if it isn't the best find I've had all month.
I was able to see them in person twice at tiny venues (like 250 max capacity) and they sound even better in person. I'd highly recommend seeing them as soon as it's safe too, you'll have a bomb ass time.
@@BraindeadXIII you should watch the video where she explains the lyrics are about a guy she wants to stop hitting on her. But okay, you have a good interpretation too.
Just spent 40 minutes to find this band again after four years (forgot the name and the title of the song). Finally decided to type in "goth girl on guitar band handsome bassist". BOOM. Worked.
@@thecosmonaut9322 Bossman you don't have to craft every detail with particle effects and glitter coming out of the ass to a make good shot. That 5 seconds is really well done. It's simple. It's elegant. It tells a story. Why? Look at her face. The whole song is about not having "Television Romance", some sort of notion of Perfect For Eachother á la the Royal couples, or alternatively a notion of the whole dynamic being low-key and simple and quaint. But that 5 seconds? That tells all of her feelings for the dynamic. Look at her damn face you can see the discontent plain as day. Why is she not happy? She is with someone who is meant to make her happy, she doesn't need anything more, right? Well that's the question isn't it. Whether she wants that Television Romance she fantasises and idealises or whether or not she will be content with any of her current life. Maybe she's contemplating what could have been if she wasn't with this person, if she never met the person whateverthefuck they met. Or maybe you can choose to see something different seeming as 5 seconds of facial expression has a lot of ambiguity. But the point is that it's a great shot, you don't need to be elaborate or camp to have good storytelling or elegance within the framework of cinematography.
Yes!!!! I was thinking it too!!! I loved the far off stare as though she was in thought and when the beat picked up is when she 'snapped' back into attention and focused back to the camera. Literally made me ache, I love subtle details like that in music videos ❤
@@thecosmonaut9322 You're right, i drunkenly overstated the significance of the moment, it just happend to resonate with me very strongly at the time. Though i still think those 5 seconds perfectly encapsulate the message of the song
I looked up "bands like the 1975" and holy crap this does NOT disappoint. Looking forward to hear more of their beautiful work!! This is an absolute banger
Ah it all makes sense now sounded 1975 someone else confirmed and a factoid was revealed to further solidify good job everyone. Also the joy division Ian Curtis geetar is nice ❤

Adore this band. Saw them live in 2018 and it's still the best gig i've ever been too. 23 year old man crying his eyes out. Good times. Just checked their tour and they're going to literally everywhere in the UK except Newcastle. So depressed.
That empty stare at 1:41 gets me every time. I've been there many times. It also reminds me some of the Robert Smith expressions, and that's helluva compliement.
absolutely love this song. The music video has really small details that I love too. The way, Heather just rolls her eyes at 1:27 playfully. Or when the snare drum hits at 1:40 and she stops doing her small groove to the song. She sits there with the music still grooving, but in her own silence. It's as if she's spent telling the person, "you and I haven't got it."
When Taylor Swift sang the lyrics "You would hide away and find your peace of mind with some Indie record that's much cooler than mine.", this is what she was talking about.
Don't know if any of you noticed this but the audio is them playing live, it's not the studio recording audio. Makes me appreciate it that much more, such an incredible band!
I've been watching this video for a few years now and there's just something about it that gives me that sense if nostalgia from my childhood. I can't place what it is though
Nobody: 2 cute boys: shaking their hips like wow mysterious blonde human in the background: hair flip supreme beautiful goth girlfriend: staring into my soul and being gorgeous
Damn I remember when this song had just came out and was barely a month old when I found it, I was in the best time of my life and this song just accentuated that amazing experience now 3 years later and I'm going through my nostalgic music phase again
@@Volzotran I mean, yes the subculture is heavily based on music, but it's also a fashion subculture. Even if her style seems to be influenced by many alternative subcultures, the biggest influence I can see is both because of the makeup.
God bless Matty for directing this video because tbh if he didn't show it off I would of carried on not knowing who this band were. But omg! What a masterpiece!! Her voice is stunning 😍 You can also deffo see some similarities to The 1975.... can we all take a moment to appreciate the neon pink room at the end? 🤔🙌🏽🙌🏽
She’s her own person and that’s OK it’s basically like the 80s Futuristic it echo electric Rork basically in a way I don’t know how to describe it With a vampire vibes does that make sense
I don't know if you've ever heard of a singer named Emilie Autumn, but she's pretty big in the Goth scene and she does a little bit of everything (i.e. metal and rock, but also classical, jazz, new-age, folk, electronica, and even poetry).
