Yasser Arafat is Egyptian. He was born in 1929 in Egypt (his ancestors are from there). So even that falls away.

Salahdin wasn't a Palestinian, he wasn't even an Arab. He was a kurd.

you cannot name an important person from history (more than 100 years) if you never had a history as a actual country. This question really exposes the lies and false reality they try to convince the world exists about their history. well done!

What people don't want you to know about this conflict is that many Arabs from surrounding countries emigrated to Palestine because of the economy that the Jewish immigrants were creating. Very few of today's "refugees" are people with longstanding roots in Palestine.

Both what they say (praising terrorists and martyrs) and what they don't say (limited history) says so much. They defined "Palestine" perfectly.

Funny how I can name dozens of famous frenchmen, Germans, Spaniards, Brits, Italians, Greeks from 2000 years ago even though I'm Canadian; and these can't even name one historical figure from their own land older than our own lifetime.

This just shows that a people who harbor such hate will not form great people. They teach their kids to hate and this hate greatly diminishes them.

How many times is Palestine mentioned in the Quran? The Quran does not mention Palestine even once. Many Muslims do not know that their Quran never mentions Palestine even once, and mentions the name Israel 43 times (Bani Israel, sons of Israel), and clearly says that Allah has ordained the holy land for them!

How can a group of people with no ethnic language, no ethnic relation to eachother or the land, no flag, no anthem, no shared stories or history, no coin, no kings or rulers be called a nation?

Name a president or king or prime minister of Palestine before 1948. Name the Palestinian currency. Locate the historic capital building of Palestine. Kind of hard to have a country without those items.

As an Egyptian, im completely grateful that my parents taught me history. If they didn't do that, i would be thinking my whole life that palastinians are innocent😅

One fellow thought of Saladin, a name that had come to my mind too. I learned of Saladin (that's the usual English spelling) when reading about the Crusades when I was 9 or so. But Saladin was born in the central Iraqi city of Tikrit. He was of Kurdish descent.

They were always occupied by foreign powers like Romans, Byzanz, Arabic Caliphate, Ottoman Caliphate, British Empire, Israel. Their history blends with those of the occupier. You can see the same pattern with Kurds never almost had their own Country always occupied. There are many peoples with the similar fate.

What do Palestinians learn in school on subject history? Their narrative is that Palestine is thousands of years old, yet they cannot seem to remember a renown Palestinian from before 20th century.

The only person who named a "Palestinian" figure before 1947, named an agressive colonizer from Kurdistan.

At 10:55, the lady says "there were a lot of rebels, fighters, the resistance." She says this after being asked for people earlier than Arafat or Barghouti. It appears the entire historical identity is about resisting Zionism...not much about what existed before the Jews came in large numbers.

How is this even possible? I live in Indonesia, once we were colonized by the dutch for 350 years. We have so many important heroes who fought the dutch colonizer until we finally declared our state. These people doesn't seem like they have been there for many years.

This is an excellent question with a hidden significant message. The oldest known Palestinian was the writer-author Khalil al-Sakakini, 1878. Palestine was controlled by various empires, such as the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, the Islamic Caliphate, and the Ottoman Empire, and eventually, in 1920, the British, under a League of Nations Mandate until 15 May 1948.

Just like all those other Muslims about their ideology. But a famous Palestinian scientist for instance was Chaim Weizmann and you could say Albert Einstein was too.

Most of the people they are naming born in other countries. A lot of them were Jordanians or Egyptian. The term Palestinians or Palestine did appear in any language until after 70 A.D. by Romans referring to the of Judea and the Jews.

Interestingly, the Jews were not the only people to self-declare statehood in the old Ottoman Syria following its defeat in the First World War. A year before Israel was formed, the 'Arab Kingdom of Syria' was self-declared by Arabs who had participated in the revolt against the Ottomans under the encouragement of 'Lawrence of Arabia' (among others). This kingdom was short-lived but was succeeded by a smaller Arab state, Transjordan (now the Kingdom of Jordan). Jordan occupied the West Bank from 1950 to 1967. Another interesting fact is that many of those in the West Bank have had their citizenship of Jordan revoked and are stateless as a result of that rather than Israeli unwillingness to support statehood for Palestinians. The history of the ex-Ottoman realms in the Middle East is incredibly complicated ; hardly anyone fully understands it (I sure don't!) and the vast majority of messages on social media are selective and full of spin from one group or another. It brings to mind the European 'Schleswig-Holstein Question' of which Palmerston said "Only three people have ever really understood the Schleswig-Holstein business. The Prince Consort, who is dead; a German professor, who has gone mad; and I, who have forgotten all about it.”
