I worked at a pallet meal in Alabama, one guy fed the notcher I stacked them on the other end.We also had a pallet machine along manual builders they were fast
I work in a facility identical to that one, except people just wear whatever because it stays about 90 degrees minimum inside. Definitely hard work, but I enjoy it.
i have 15 years experiance in pallet making.. i run a pallet manufacturing department in the uk you are doing very good concidering its hourly pay.if you got payed for each pallet you made then you would improve on speed a lot more. keep the good work up !!
+Peaceful Hooligan yeah IKR ! ! We Do Both At the shop i work At We reclaim pallet's aswell and reuse the Stringer's/runner's And Also the slat's/deck-boards it suck's ass having to shoot around all Those nail-heads and still be accurate and fast Aswell But These Guy's Are not all that quick like At All :)
I'm a carpenter and had thousands of dollars worth of tools stolen. Went to work at a lumber mill/pallet factory for a while until i bought more tools. This is nothing. It sounds like machine gun fire when we built pallets. Tap Tap Tap..TATATTATTATATATATTATATa. Seeing someone really fast with a coil nailer is pretty impressive. I was surprised at how fast you can go and I've been using nail guns for 15 years. Tip: remove the springs.
You can legit make them sound like machine guns if you know how to do it. I do it all the time on the wide boards that need 3 nails instead of 2 lol. Love that trick Guaranteed to turn some heads lol
With all of our current automation technology, like on 'How It's Made', why are jobs like this still requiring manual labour to manufacture a wooden pallet?
+sdc0llin You Are correct Sir most Builder's Do prefer To use a Nailer without the Safety Spring on The nose But I For One prefer to Keep My spring Installed I Like The feel Of the Gun better With A Spring I Do Modify The Spring Tho Where I Can Get The hair Trigger Benefit's And it Still Has The feel That I like And If you Are not Careful And Know Your Nailgun Well Shooting Without A Spring Can cause You to Put To Many Nail's In one Isolated spot Instead of uniform Nail spacing You Get Like Three Or Four nail's Like All bunched up in A Row On The Corner Of Your Lead-Board Happens To Amateurs mostly lol
@@sherpaderpdingo3405 got a die setter job instead, that other job was part time. Still wonder if it would make some good money though. They just relisted it
I have seen those machines, and I like the idea of giving two guys a job rather than having expensive equipment that will need a maintenance guy, oiling, replacement parts, etc. I think two nail guns and two hardworking guys are way better. :)
I’ve worked in a pallet factory and there are machines doing this work but they aren’t always as productive as two experienced and well coordinated people, plus they still need at least one operator and ongoing maintenance. Problem is finding people fit enough to do this 8 - 12 hours a day for relatively low pay.
@@piochin23 actually it's not a stupid question I used to build ( now repairing) pallets and certain pallets can't go on the ground like pallets that r used for food so instead of taking a stack and putting it on the ground and then grab the stack thats on a pallet it's just faster to grab the stack and load it so yes some pallets can be shipped with a pallet on the bottom it just ur pallet company u work for they r just to cheap to give 24 free pallets away
I worked at Peco Pallets. The guys repaired the ones that needed it. Then they got painted. Repair guys made $15 base. With production incentives they could make up to $22 an hour. I was happy making $16 to load trucks. Pallets weighed 62 pounds apiece. Guys had back problems Shoulders rotator cuff etc.
Don't know where you live but 15 an hour is not enough for that type of work where I live 22 sound more like it though If you were getting payed 16 loading them with a forklift that not that bad
@@baheerathan8307 38 hrs for 636 after tax per week? that is too cheap...i worked in A & L Windows and similar job get 24.33 per hrs before tax. nearly 800 dollars per 38 hrs per week. maybe you should consider that?
+Bonnie Lee Williams LOL so you guy's Call it Pallet making? like for real ?? LMAO ! ! ! Around Here We Call it pallet building And the guy's Who operate the Hand nailer's/nailguns..... Me Are Called Builder's So Are y'all Called maker's ? Or Pallet Maker's ? Just Curious pallet makers Sound's kinda yankee To Me
Guns are not for production. No where near as fast or as good at making pallets. These pallets are made with substandard nails. Wire is .083 or .099 not machine grade .115 or .120 in diameter. Gun nails have poor threads or rings so they are easier to drive. Holding power is next to nothing and the steel in the nails is lower grade allowing them to bend easier and make shiners. And the clincher (no pun) is that these nails cost twice that of loose nails. That alone will pay for a real nailing machine.
