Alternated Palm-Finger rolls are achieved by simply playing a palm stroke with one hand, playing a palm stroke with the other hand, finger stroke with the first hand, then a finger stroke with the second hand. I picture the finger stroke "popping" my hand back up into the air to prepare for the downstroke of the next palm stroke on that hand.
Believe it or not, this was taught to me on my first day of studying with Giovanni Hidalgo... It took me hours of practice over years to get it this clean and even, so don't be discouraged.
At the top of the video, I demonstrate with the Left Hand: 8th noted of Palm-Finger, Palm-Finger, Palm-Finger, Open tone. Then I "shadow" with the right hand, placing them essentially as offbeat 16th notes. The resultant "sticking is: Left Palm/Right Palm; Left Finger/Right Finger, etc.
Beyond that, I incorporate the figure into a standard tumbao timekeeping to show some ideas.

From an attack, projection and resonance standpoint; definitely the Best sounding Meinl congas I’ve heard. The mounting style and head selection really cuts the sound loose(no disrespect to the many other great Meinl artist, just feel like traditionally, their drums are more on the subtle side).
