I had it shipped to my local FFL and found this rifle coated, soaked and mummified in cosmoline. Four hours later a decent rifle emerged from the goo then I soaked it all in CLP to run it wet and hot at the range. This is my second Type 56 Norinco SKS from the same Factory 26. I'm not sure why this "export" model had some initial issues with the rusty, crusty ammo but I got it hot enough to release the rest of the Cosmoline into the copious amounts of CLP to let the small parts soak in Mineral Spirits again while I scrub the barrel and gas system. I'm impressed with this rifle and with SKS in general but unless I get some really nice deal I am done collecting this type.
When you get a gun soaked is Cosmoline it is a labor of love that requires a lot of elbow grease, chemicals and thorough cleaning of the entire rifle! Safety is rule #1 and if you are not sure that you can or want to clean it then perhaps have a gunsmith clean it or just stay away from it.
