I just bought one this week at $400. I have a g85 but wanted a smaller inconspicuous camera to walk around. I’m starting to enjoy the performance for a 5-6 year old classic. Thanks for your video. ❤❤
I am thinking about getting the zs100 (or zs70), but a big hesitation I have with the 100 is the many compliments I've heard about no grip (seems odd to me they would leave it off). I wondered if there was something I could add. I Googled flipbac grip, and several came up. Which one did you get? Thank you for your time and help!
thanks for a nice review as always - I agree on all points - I got mine now - I have the Canon G7X and the RX100 and RX100m4 and Canon G3X all with the 1 inch sensor - I certainly like the focal range of the G7X but I must say that the IQ is nicer out of the ZS100 - I am very impressed with clarity and detail in the ZS100 - Love the Touch LCD and it is loaded with features - love the Touch shutter - the many FN buttons just such a nice layout - I wish it had a tilt LCD - but I am ok with the EVF - on such a small body I use the LCD most of the time - only in the sunniest situations will I revert to the EVF - and it is Ok for composing - I feel the EVF on my RX100m4 just a bit delicate - better yes - but I often do not pop it up as I just worry about it in some circumstances - I find my RX100m4 overheat at 3 min in warm weather - :( I have recorded quite a few 8-15 min clips and no overheating on the ZS100 - No I am not getting rid of my RX100m4 or the GX7 - but I find my self using the ZS100 more - quite a bit more vs the RX100m4 and G7X - they still have their place - but the ZS100 is just such a good all-around came - I do also have the HX50v :) but it just collects dust now - To me the ZS100 is highly recommended
As much as I want to pickup this camera, I'll have to agree the non-articulating screen is also a deal breaker for me. Thank you for another great review.
10:35 grabbing a still from video is SO EASY in camera and along with the zoom a big reason I’m seriously considering staying with Panasonic over other enticing brands. The feature set on Panny is so packed it’s crazy plus the zoom. I’m looking for help in low light over my old zs30 but...the zoom is sooo useful. Great video.
I believe your crop factors of the cat pictures are wrong. The crop figures are at the top and when you said it was a 4 times it was 2 times and later the 8 times was in fact a 4 times.
I'm happy this camera has no articulating screen. I like it on my main camera (Nikon P950) for seeing what I'm doing at odd angles or even getting fun photos of my kids as they're looking at themselves on the screen as I photograph. But I bought this one to have on hand at all times when I don't bring my large P950 and I prefer the screen to be compact.
I'm surprised in most of the ZS100/TZ100 reviews, don't mention the extended i-Zoom which takes the zoom to 500mm with little effect of quality. Also as for build quality the body is solid metal. I found this out when I dropped it. I had to file down a burr of metal. Also where its scratched the aluminium colour shows through the black paint
Thorough, articulate review as always - you're the best. Another wonderfully imagined and designed camera by Panasonic, always up there in innovation, but as always too, falls short on image quality. See the DPreview image comparisons AND comments. Yeah, pixel peeping, but Panasonic's images always take a back seat with the noise and lack or sharpness. I don't want sharp over the top - like Olympus does - at the cost of detail, but Sony seems to get it just about right. I'll wait for the RX100-5 to see if they extend the zoom. Would love the touch-screen too - please, oh please again, Sony.
I have the z30. However, i wanted something smaller but simiĺar capability. But alot cheaper. So i just bought one from ebay for like 349. I hope the age doesn't matter. I could use some feedback.... thanks if you got the time.
Luv the review very in-depth. I am a traveler who likes to take pictures. Why have Panasonic & Sony stopped using GPS? When I go on long trips I forget were I took some pictures on side streets and when I want to make a book it is a huge hassle figuring out exactly where I took the picture. Yes I occasionally need big zoom for seeing things i can't get to. Yes I am happy to pay the price for 1" sensor with big zoom and pocketable camera with GPS. Am I the only one? Any suggestions? Is the I would luv to upgrade from my Panasonic ZS40 the features that I need but not the quality. Do I just continue to wait?
Can one use an external shutter release/intervalometer with this camera to shoot time lapse with post-processing? Also, how many megapixels? The reviews never seem to say.

Difficult choice, I own tz100 and lx7 the previous from lx10. From my experience the small zoom of lx series in some cases is a big minus. But the ability to shoot at wider Aperture plus the articulating screen I think it makes lx10 a winner here. You only going to miss the extra zoom in some cases during a travel which I guess could be 20% of total shoots. But in a travel where you photo streets, people buildings and during a walk at night lx series is the winner.
So I have a question, this camera says it's aperture goes from maximum f2.8 to a minimum f22 but I can only seem to get mine to go to f8. Am I missing something on my settings or did I get the information on the aperture wrong?
It's a FABULOUS camera - great bargain - terrific features. It's my 4th Oly micro43, and the best - 5 axis image stabilization, tilting lcd, silent mode, great viewfinder, sturdy, great color. Love it! It is NOT a travel zoom and uses interchangeable lenses - huge choice of quality lenses.
