Very nice review once again from TheCameraStoreTV Seems like the auto focus is lightning quick! Overall, seems like this camera rocks in videos especially the slow-motion footage as well as having the cheapest 4k video shooter in the market.

I sold my Canon 5d MK2 yesterday and pre-ordered the GH4. I'm so happy with Panasonic, this GH4 is for many videographers the gift of 2014. New interesting discussions on the web to using the 4K camera as a source material, then down-scaling and transcoding it to either ProRes or Cineform 1080p at 10bit 4:4:4. I will believe that this camera blows many popular dslr out of the water.

A follow-up vid with a bit of image testing, sport shooting, low light shooting, focusing speed/accuracy in low light and fast moving, would be nice to round out this excellent video capability review. Thanks for the great work!

Chris and Jordan, thanx for the review. Very helpful. Can I request you guys to do a short review on Lumix G6 and SONY a3000; its never been too late. I believe they are both very underrated cameras, specially G6...its probably the most creative camera. Pls think about it.

Game changer! Panasonic hit it out-of-the-park at this price point, especially with that expander. Totally impressed! If you're into video, who wouldn't want one?

Best GH4 review I've seen so far. Shame about the headphone jack placement, yet so nice to see a reviewer actually go beyond the obvious and mention it. Playback button location is still a pain too. Please contact Panasonic to complain about this. the more voices, the better! I already did so.

I'm thinking about upgrading from my Canon 7D to this so I'm kind of more interested in the still side of this camera, but the 4k video capabilities is obviously an amazing feature. Great review.

Thank you for this great hands-on test. Very honest and informative. Which cards were you shooting 4K in and were there any issues with dropped frames or recording?

The Canon 1D-C of 2012 was oriented more to videography but it was very expensive. However the Panasonic GH4 was a the first affordable photo camera that was oriented to 4K videography. Actually this move of Panasonic saved the micro 4/3 mount.

Great review video; Would be amazing if you guys could do a review video that compares the Panasonic GH4 with cameras like Canon 5D MkIII or even with Panasonic GX7. BTW - what lens did you use with the GH4?

Thanks for the video, great to see the new Panny in action. Curious if you have further thoughts on artifacts and macro blocking on the 4k? Does rendering down to 1080 clear up existing artifacts from 4k? Been looking for a comparison between 4k rendered to 1080 as it stacks up against 5d mkIII with ML raw. Thoughts appreciated!

I was hoping for a review of this camera so much and even better that you guys are the first! One question though that was overlooked, how is the low light performance compared to say a 7D or 5D mk3 just to give people a rough idea?

Is there an EF mount adapter that can be used with this? If so, what would be the limitations of using my Canon glass with the GH4?

Great video thanks for sharing, question have you guys had any errors to the SD cards? I had a GH-1 hacked and was using a class 10 SD card given it was hacked but I'm concerned about the stability on a long capture say like a wedding or an interview without getting an error and loosing footage. Whats the longest capture you guys have done?

Lets see... Nearly pro still performance, weather sealed, amazing 1080p shooting options, 4k, expandable pro interface with SDI and XLR... for 1698 for body. I expect this will be backordered for at least a year. Hopefully I can get a used gh3 though to replace my gh2. Panasonic's camera department is simply amazing. This is a game changer like when the 5d mk2 first came out.

Nice review - thanks for that! What about focus peaking, if you compare it with Sony Focus Peaking function? I have it on GM1 (on GH3 not) and I don't know... Sony focus peaking is I think more usable...

Awesome review! I want to replace my 60D with this baby for it's wonderful video, but I need decent high ISO stills too. I'd love to see some high ISO stills to see how noise reduction is doing. Please oh please post some footage from the external recorder at 4:2:2 10bit! Then I can tell Panasonic please just take my damn money!

I've been doing a little bit of research over the past few days and I love the gh4 so much and I think I am gonna get it... the only thing I'm concerned about is the autofocus, it isn't that great but image quality is impressive...

You have answered the questions about the autofocus being able to track a moving subject well, but can you actually use the EVF when shooting continuous stills. Most EVFs will show the photo you just took instead of a live view, which makes it difficult to track a subject in motion. Really liked the review though. Good job guys.

Hi guys, great review! Let me ask - what camera and lens do you use for making this review?

Love your reviews you guys rock! Wondering if anyone can help answer a few questions. We are currently in pre-pod for a TV series and deciding on a third camera - the FS700 or GH4 for some B-roll and also some high frame rates are in the decision mix. As its for TV a decision on 25progressive or 50interlaced is yet to be made. I know you have used (and perhaps some subscribers) both camera's and may be able to answer a couple of unknowns. 1) Internally they are both 4:2:0. I know the FS700 internal codex 28mbs AVCHD sounds weak but editors/graders argue it holds up better than expected compared to many DSLR higher intra rates of 50mbs or above etc. Do you know what the comparative image quality internally of 1080 either p or i is between the GH4 and FS700. I know the low light and dynamic range of the FS700 is very good especially with S-log2 in now included. 2) I've heard a rumour (unconfirmed) that the GH4 at 96fps is not as sharp as at 25fps and perhaps therefore the FS700 looks better at higher rates i.e 100fps. 3) Externally we need 1080, 4:2:2. both camera's can output this but... Expensive options (eg; 7Q or the bulky Sony 4k unit) sap budget from other gear inventory and we have ruled them out. Are there other recorders which can still capture the high frames needed externally. We are waiting for a reply from 'Atmos' to hopefully answer the FS700 mystery as there seems to be confusion as to the ability to capture FS700 at high frame rates on a external recorders in progressive or interlaced. Also I'm still not sure if the GH4 outputs 4:2:2 and 96fps to an external recorder without having to use the YAGHG brick (another budget spend we wish to avoid) and what brand this maybe. If anyone can shed some light or link to info - that would be awesome. We have a month before shooting kicks off and time is ticking with a mill decisions :) Chur.

AWESOME!!! I wish you would talk about the iso performance no-one has ever talked about. When will it ship? How much do you pay for a70D on trade in? The stabilizer is a downside... But with DFD and the 42.5 1.2 OIS. I DON'T see a reason to adapt any glass anymore... Excellent Job Jordan!!

Guys, many of us are interested in video, but we are not professional using the camera in manual mode all the time. As such, VIDEO AF PERFORMANCE is one the most desired features to look for - much more so than 4K - something that your review did not even mention, in spite of being focused in the video features of the camera. The 70D´s dual-pixel video AF proved to be significantly better than the GH3´s, I´m sure there´s a lot of us who would like to know how the GH4 compares to it. Thanks guys.

What a thorough review! Great stuff, thanks! One question: I don't have much experience with Panasonic lenses (all my lenses are Canon). How do they perform? I assume you can't use Canon lenses (without manual aperture control and an adapter ring) on a GH4 body?
