Panasonic HZ1000 OLED TV Unboxing + Picture Settings 

Lol. I remember when they were literally kicked out if the US. I worked for a major electronics store and our backstock was full of Panasonic TVs, used and returned. Our electronic repairman had loads of broken Panasonic TVs. Several major chains like best buy, ours(soundtrack), and others demanded that Panasonic take their crap back because they were over loading our stores with broken crap. They wouldn't, and all the stores stopped carrying Panasonic. Big reason why they are not in the US. It seems they might have gotten better, but I definitely would get a warranty with it.

Yes very close Sony Bravia OLED TVs both are superior to LG.

Its all about gaming these days, thats why these brands dont get the spotlight. Refreshrates are very important, deep black colors, HGIG. I never understood why it had to take so long before brands began to realize this. Stuck with lcd/led technology for sooo long witj gaming at 13ms is just ridicilious. And they already knew this in 2009, but he we dont care lets release another led with better brighness, we dont care if games tearing. Next year, we add apps, o wait lets do 3d and curved panels, while technology has not changed much. Tecnnology could have been years ahead in 2020 if they start to listen and understand how fast gaming was growing since 2001. Everything is based on movie industry and tv broadcasting, while these two worlds are slowly dying. I mean why we have still have overclocked/tuned LCD technology, and 20 year old OLED technology. If they cooperate with gameindistry way sooner, things where more balanced for all worlds. Cause i believe gaming technology will improve tv technology faster then otherwise, because the movie industry use computer technology.

I doubt it. From this year, Panasonic has also stopped selling their televisions in Australia. Luckily they're still selling their 4K players in the US and Australia.

I think he's got a 65" LG E9 OLED. Seen it in some of his videos in the background. As for 4K Blu-ray players, he's got an OPPO UDP-203 and the Panasonic DP-UB9000. Don't know if he has any home theater speakers.

He has a 21inch JVC TV-VCR combo, audio 3.5mm cable to a Sharp Boombox. Bean bag and a sheet covering the basement window.

Back then OLED already was the next step technology ... "Plasma 2.0" from my point of view ;-) ... that's why Samsung tried to develop it (RGB-OLEDs) and invested loads of money in it. Nevertheless they failed and stopped OLED development in 2013 ... and HAD to put all their marketing powers into their existing LCDs therefore...

@@Cmdaddy88 I am not sureabout JB friend, but I have friends at Harvey Norman that's confirmed they can ship to aus but postage is at your expense. I have a 65 inch headed my way, and paid 200 for delivery. I did buy the TV when I was in New Zealand, and it mopped the floor with every other panel in the store at the time. They use LG panels and made LG sets look weak. 200nzd for delivery is not cheap, but it's a piece of mind being Panasonic, you are pretty much guaranteed to see it outlast Samsung, TCL and Hisense garbage being spilled across Australia

Thats pretty wasteful. Not only does the WHO suggest the virus is unlikely to be active on packaging thats been in transit for days, but testing has shown a max lifespan of 24 hours on cardboard for SARS-CoV-2. So even playing it safe and assuming the delivery person has the virus and the box had a fresh application right before its handed to you, you can either leave it aside for a day (or a little more if you want to be extra cautious), or open it immediately and empty the contents out without letting it touch the outside of the box. Dump the box, wash your hands. No gloves or spray required.

Panasonic sold a shitload of plasmas back in the late 2000s. I used to be a Panny rep back in the day for a marketing company and I would eat lcds for lunch back then. The pricing was very competitive with LCDs at the time. They could compete in the US market. Yes their margins would have to get a bit slimmer but volume would do well. They sell decently in Canada. I was seriously considering buying one in Ontario.

The Panasonic HZ series also offers variable-intensity black frame insertion, more near-black calibration adjustments at 0.5% & 1.3% video stimulus, hard clip function to disable tone-mapping, as well as Dolby Vision calibration over the GZ series.

Maybe you could do follow up video showing the Film Maker mode HDR settings on the HZ. Is it possible to mimic Filmmaker mode on GZ950 using the custom picture preset ? If you change "PICTURE Button Settings", it's possible to quickly switch between "Professional 2" and "Custom" using Picture button on the remote, so be interesting to see how close the picture settings are to the known good Professional 2 settings.

Buy a TV for the picture quality not the embedded apps, those are easily replaced with 50 dollar devices...

@@Cmdaddy88 Moravid as I pointed out the quality of the display wasn't great either for £2k+ display it's pretty disappointing. In regards to the after launch support I was referring more to fixes such as lack of hdr that was promised but took a year to add, updating apps isn't asking a lot either as you said you can get a $50 device with better support which is a joke when paying for a premium TV that's effectively unsupported after a year.

Yeah looks like a large Acer pc monitor. That would be the LG who can't even organise to have basic FTA apps like iPlayer and ITV hub on their TV's for 2020 would it?

mrbrainchild76 I'd probably argue that case, as the black level, AI picture processing and chipset improvements are better on the CX for non-gaming and we haven't seen a direct gaming mode comparison between the c9/cx yet. It would be near identical in most cases, but the improvement of black crush might be a factor. The loss of DTS decode/licenses is a flaw, but if you have eARC, not an issue. The loss of 48gbps isn't going to affect the next generation of consoles, the PS 6 won't be pushing 12bit HDR at 120Hz for 4k or 8k. PC gaming might be affected, but it's likely to be some time before hardware is available for 4k or 8k HDR 120hz.

You don't need 48Gbps bandwidth because most recent consumer TVs are 10-bit panels. Not 12-bit.

Going to wall mount so GX seems to be my favored choice.

I think BFI just lowers the perceived amount of light from the backlight, I don't know if it would affect the white or black point. Brightness on LG OLEDs means Black Level so how does increasing it from 50 to 60 crush the blacks? If anything that will raise the black level. Sorry if I misunderstand you, do you mean the blacks are crushed by the BFI settings and then you increase Brightness from 50 to 60 to fix it? If yes, I don't think the black crush is anything to do with the BFI setting being on, its more just that OLED will try to show you the actual brightness of a pixel so if its a near black pixel and any combination of the following is happening you will have problems with "black crush": A) You aren't in a dark room/have ambient light coming in B) Have your OLED Brightness setting down too low [Obv this just applies to SDR, in HDR it should always be maxed anyway] C) The material was not made well. I have a ZD9/Z9D and a lot of HDR is unwatchable in a non-pitch black room due to the image being too dull, if this set has problems like that then OLED is going to be much worse in that regard since its trying to show you the true black level. If my backlight-elevated shadows are hard to see in a lit room then OLED has no chance. I used to demo OLED in retail shops and if I tried to play certain HDR movies with low light-level scenes, even in horrible Vivid/Dynamic picture setting the image would be SUPER dull, this is because of how much ambient light there is in these stores but its really just an exaggerated version of having your own lights on/light streaming in via windows. On C) I want to say that this will hardly ever apply in super--high budget professionally mastered films but I've seen a trend in TV shows/streaming content media [Neflix, Prime originals, etc] and computer game development where the makers view the output of the final product on shitty IPS TV's and don't realise the blacks are crushed for people with FALD LCDs/Plasma/OLED because its looks fine to them as the crushed shadows are elavated by the low contrast of the IPS panel.

You shouldn't use a LCD tv either then ... you need to worry about backlight, panel or electronic board failure and/or backlight degradation ! Btw: I am using a C7 since mid of 2017 ... around 5,000 hrs in total by now ... and no burn in at all ! (I am checking this on a regular base with colour test screens)
