A useful tip I've found is to number all the batteries to keep an even usage and also on long event days, it's easy to pick the next fully charged battery. I have tried stickers but I find painting a small white dot on the end of the battery which is exposed when the battery door is opened works well. I just make sure all batteries are charged and start with battery 1 and then just pick the next one when needed. When there is some downtime, all I do is check in my camera which battery I am on then, recharge all the other batter numbers below this.

i store fully charged batteries inside those little pull ziplock bags; it makes them waterproof and it won’t start a fire when the contacts touch metal bits

Found your channel because I scored my first mirrorless cam today! yay!!! As a Canon DLSR user, it’s daunting for me to shift brands since I should get familiar with the new buttons, tricks, etc. However, I bit the bullet today. Oh noh! LOL! Hoping to learn from you and other Lumix users in YT! Thanks!

Why not have a charging optiin with just a USB cable? Instead of carrying the charger along?

Really surprised about the strictness of knife laws in Australia. We have restrictions here in Canada too but every guy or girl who loves outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing uses knives. Theyre great tools, a life-saver sometimes. We're suffering from worldwide "Wokeism". Hopefully it will swing back somewhat. Great tips on battery management. I'm getting my elastic bands out of the drawer right now.

Im a biologist, in Australia, and I always gave one on me. The laws are made to stop idiot kids from taking them on the train, but like all police they take the directives to bluntly. Usually, if you have a real reason you'll be fine.

@@mathish1477 Yes - I have a small farm and usually have one on me too and USE it all the time - opening horse feed etc... etc... I Just gotta be mindful when I go out to the shops to empty my pockets :) But yeah if you got an ok reason you'll be ok...

Another tip: buy a dual battery charger with interchangeable plates. I can charge 2 gx9 batteries at the same time, then swap the charging plates and charge my GH5ii batteries, then swap and charge my Nikon or Canon batteries etc. You can also mix what batteries you want to charge. Andoer has a 4x and a 2x charger with such plates.

I've had the G85 for about 1.5 years now, and it's a fantastic camera. My question is, do you think that lack of inspiration is reason enough to upgrade your gear? Sometimes I find my pictures are just all right... And I find myself craving a G9 to explore with. Should I just keep my system?

Well that all depends - in the end cameras are just tools and it’s out job as artist to find motivation and inspiration in different ways - Before upgrading maybe make up a Pinterest mood board of all your favourite photographers work and study there art - I know when I’m lacking inspiration I dig deep into the work of my favourite photographers and designers and that gets me back on track :) But then again a new camera or lens can dramatically boost inspiration… But for me any new purchase needs to tick multiple boxes NOT just a hit of potential motivation :) Hope that helps …

"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it." ;) I wanted one so I went to eBay and found a good deal on a previously owned one. I'm just a hobbyist so I don't actually have to justify that expense, it's not a professional tool to me. It was just... a gift to myself. :P
