Hard to believe that this camera is over five years old now, and it still represents a great value for anyone from beginner to semi-pro. Great job Panasonic, and well done Graham! 😎
@@bookedsam It's still an excellent value in 2022 imo, but if you can afford it, I'd go with the FZ2500. A whole lot of feature upgrades for the extra money, plus a 1" sensor.
@@patrickfitzgerald2861 I might go for an FZ1000 first gen because of the 1" sensor, despite the lack of weather sealing *Edit* after checking the specs of the FZ1000 and where it is available, I will most likely go for the Fz330.
Another extremely valuable video. I have bought and sold 2 FZ300's, just bought one in Nov. 2023. Because of your explanations, books and videos I feel like I can use this camera a lot more effectively now. Thanks for all that you do!
Received my FZ 300 a few hours ago. Had a battery charged and SD card ready! First; the viewfinder is indeed incredible. After looking through it and looking through the viewfinder on my FZ 200, it was like looking through a straw. Am most appreciative of the additional size, weight and resulting feel of the FZ 300. After carrying a Canon FTb QL, F-1 with motordrive and an EOS-1 with drive booster, typically all at once, the FZ 300 feels more like a camera. Certainly not as heavy as the F-1 w/drive or EOS-1 w/booster, but the minimal additional weight gives a bit more sensed stability. My spirit level works also with the moving of the mike. The FZ 200's mikes would not let it sit level on the camera. More to come. Graham Houghton, as I and so many others say, it is greatly appreciated the time and effort you give to ease our adapting to and appreciation of photography and videography through your testing and showing examples through these videos. This (these) camera(s) give this old man a fun way to enjoy my day doing what was once done for money (Though still fun!) to simply capturing those moments noted through my day. As we (The FZ300 and I.) grow together my days will also be a new learning experience as well. Thank you.
Thanks Graham, an excellent review as usual! I ended up buying a total of 7 FZ200's last year for my friends, family and students, still have 2 left myself which I have used for video conference work in multi cam mode. You have convinced me that the upgrade to the FZ300 is a most definite upgrade path. Love the 4k video on my FZ1000, LX100 and now will get the 300! Selling one of my last of 2 FZ200's to a student tomorrow, and looking forward to the FZ300 experience. best wishes

Have had earlier models of the FZ range and was always pleased with the results. However, it seemed as though DSLR was the way to go and purchased a Canon 18 months ago, albeit not the top of the range. It was a good camera but the 75 to 300mm lens I also purchased was poor - the image quality just wasn't up to scratch. A couple of months ago I was out and about with an old FZ48 (was only able to record to the internal memory - the SD card wasn't being recognised) and saw a rabbit in a field about 20 yards away. Switched on, zoomed in and took a quick picture. When reviewed later it was noticeable how crisp and in focus the rabbit appeared. And I knew why - the Leica lens! So that was me re-converted back to Lumix and I bought the FZ330 about 6 weeks ago, sold the Canon and lenses on Ebay and am now much more satisfied with the quality of my photos. All this talk about small sensors etc. doesn't bother me when the proof of the pudding etc.
Exactly .. as a huge Nikon fan for many years and the owner of several both film and digital models , the sheer versatility of a lumix superzoom is hard to beat , its like having your whole kit in the glovebox . One thing I've learned ... to take great pictures the first thing you need is a camera with you .. Not one you have stuffed in a bag at home because its too precious to bring out .
This is my second camera justu.faith/pLumixFZ80 The first one lasted seven years and it finally had too many drops from my saddle bags while riding my horses. This camera is easy to use, great action photos, a wonderful zoom and is very durable!! I have small hands ands comfortable enough for me to use one handed while riding horses. I just took it on an eight day horseback adventure in Israel and dropped it at a full canter on hard ground. Not even a scratch!! It’s a great camera for the price!

I have been a fan of Nikon and Canon cameras but up till now could not find the features that i wanted in my price range, but i think the Lumix will change my camera preferences. Never considered an electronics manufacturers photo cameras (ie Sony, Panasonic) but now I am impressed by their products.Thanks again
When dealing with 4k editing would be quite difficult if your PC isn't up to the challenge with this camera is it possible to shoot in lower rates like 1080p also?
Your review answered several questions including the problem prone button on the FZ200. Based on this comparison review I will most likely be buying an FZ300. I have an IMAC with Aperture 3.6; which means it supports the photo format in RAW of the new FZ300.
Hi Graham A couple of things you might be able to clarify please. 1. Can the fz 300 only shoot 4x3 at 200fps? I cannot seem to reset to 16x9 2. Zoom function does not work at 200fps 3. auto focus does not work at 200fps Any comments or assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated
I really enjoy my FZ200 and can see they have improved the ergonomics with access to menus and the touchscreen addition. I would be interested to see what the colours come out like as I always felt they were a bit cold on my FZ200. Probably just my eyesight though. Can't wait for the next review!
Hi +Graham Houghton, thanks for such a clear video. It will be really interesting to see the FZ1000 v FZ330. They seem identical in some ways. I am trying to work out which one would be better for vlogging and filming inside in a medium sized room. Also weighing it up against FZ200 as it still seems a good basic beginners camera.

Great video review; this is the first camera I've ever bought used for real estate and have no complaints. Fairly easy to use and get great videos for everyday use. I did have a question on the wifi functionality when it its connected to your computer. Can you stream video via wifi to a shared folder or is it only pictures that can be streamed? Lastly, can this camera be paired with another camera to start recording at the same time so I can edit seamlessly? Thanks in advance!

hey Graham nice video as always..!! I've been using the FZ200 for roughly 3 years now and I'm really happy with it...but I would like to know one thing and that is about the DFD AF performance at telephoto ranges of this new camera. Is it significantly better than the FZ200..?
Is it possible to use the FZ330 as a camcorder and film a series of shots as one video rather than use an editor afterwards to compile a video? So does the record button have a pause function so that you can stop and start filming?
I, too, have purchased the FZ300 and very much look forward to any future videos you will provide that will enable me to get the best shots possible. Will you be publishing a new user's manual for the FZ 300 or will you add a new section to the FZ200? The user's manual that accompanied the camera is not very good.
Whatever the critics say, for me the FZ200 has been a total game changer. My selection co trol is functional but showing wear. how easy n how much was your repair. I have also had the lens cap create small scratches on the object object lens somehow. Would you advise I look for a repair, replacement n if so where?

Three questions about the FZ300: 1) Does your trick for shooting landscape photos at the hyperfocal distance (with maximum depth of field) still work with the 300? 2) Is it possible to shoot focus-stacked macro photos manually, as described in two of your videos? 3) Given the reconfiguration of buttons on the back of the camera, is it still possible to shoot "back button focus?" Hi Graham always a pleasure to watch your reviews keep it going, been an upgrading Lumix customer ever since the FZ 18 I have a question though, does the FZ300 support the LA7 adapter without any issues, i currently have the 200 and use it along with an Olympus Tele con 1.7x, and to the best of my knowledge haven't had any issues with the picture quality except for a tiny lag now and then while focusing in low light. I'd like to know if you've personally tried the 300 with any tele converters or come across someone using it with a tele con. Please advice. Thanks

What settings to use to film video in low light for a FZ-70 Lumix? Note, it's at night-time with 15,000 lumen of LED porch lights lighting up my front house. I want to use the Lumix as a night-time surveillance camera using a GoPro Jaws clamp as a mount and an AC adapter wall plug-in for constant power.
As always, thank you Graham for an excelent review, the camera is great, no doubt about it but all those bells and whistles makes it much more expensive and complicated. Yes, I like the constant aperture of the lens, the image quality. The trend is that you can have that but at a high cost
G'day Graham Thanks for sharing your first impressions of the FZ300. One question please, dose it have the same problem with the rear selector button as the FZ200? +Warren Smith No it doesn't seem to have this problem, the grip is slightly modified compared to the 200. So far in use i haven't hit the WB with my thumb as I used to before the FZ200 modification. Yes I will do a 330-1000 comparison.
i already have the canon 700hs and i'm interested in buying the fz330...since u made videos for both cameras,please tell me if the image quality is better than canon's...i'm really satisfied with the 700hs as an amateur photographer but i have a feeling this one will be a bit better
Excellent tour of the camera but for me the most impressive part was the section at the end with the 'straight from the camera' stills. Macro is obviously a strong feature (my first digital, a Finepix S7000, was outstanding in that respect) but also the capture of fast action. Will this make me veer away from my Canon SX60HS .... I think it might. Thanks for the upload.
I have the FZ200. Fine camera, except for skin tone color accuracy. Played with WB until I'm blue in the face (excuse the joke) but cannot get it exactly right. Sony a6000 much better. Question: Any improvement in FZ300? Another small point: In hand, does FZ300 seem much heavier than FZ200? Thanks for informative video.
Would you say this is a "better" camera than the Nikon D3300? I'm looking for a good camera and good lighting setup for overhead photography/videography on a table top with a white background. I was sold on the D3300, but this looks like a better buy. Nice video review by the way.

When shooting 4k video, does it crop the sensor like the FZ1000 does or do you still get a full 25mm at the wide end of the lens (or at least close to 25mm and not 38mm like the FZ1000)?
Hi graham, you mentioned in this video at 14:22 about a plate you made in order to mount the camera directly under the lens barrel. I believe this was so you can gain easy access to your memory card & battery without dismounting from tripod etc... I really would love to know how you made this, because I have a similar problem when using the FZ150 with opteka stabilizer handle for filming Extreme sports videos.

Or plug in a micro HDMI to USB? Should be a cable with the camera, whch my FZ300 is due to deliver Friday, as was with my FZ200. There goes the omnipotence. There may also be an app to transfer through WIFI, just haven't got that far yet.
I also fell for the supposedly "dust proof" sales pitch of this camera. Got my first dust speck on the sensor after about 8 months. In hind sight I ask what is the use of a "dust proof" camera body when lens sucks dust in just as any non dust proof camera? :P
Hi, I brought the above camera but somehow when I try to take a scene photo. I notice the square icon is on the far left of the screen and it give out a "beep Beep beep" sound. May i know what is the problem?
You've changed the focus area by touching the touchscreen. It's focusing on that far left area. Make the focus icon active again by pressing it, press the display button, and the focus will return to the center.
Can somebody please tell me if this camera is better than an iPhone 10 as a daily vlogging camera. I have both of them but I just can’t help thinking that the iPhone is better. Even though this one is bigger, I just don’t know enough to know so with some camera knowledge I’m sure one of you could tell me why it is or it is not

Can anyone confirm 100% that the FZ300 has live HDMI output? So essentially I can plug it into a HDMI Monitor and see what I'm filming on the monitor while I'm actually recording a video, instead of using the LCD on the back of the camera. I only ask because I've heard some people say it can't do output while recording, only after you have recorded the video, but I'm wondering if they are just confusing the FZ300 with the FZ200 - because I know that FZ200 did not have HDMI Live Output. Can anyone confirm? I'm thinking of getting a FZ300 for my RU-vid videos, but I need the HDMI Live output feature. Also would the Rode Video Mic Pro be a good paring with the camera for good audio?
+Lepewhi 4K video with 600mm vs. 400mm zoom , touch screen , dust and moisture resistant ,better focusing system .. Since most of my pictures are greater than 300 mm I would choose the fz330 for video. For stills you get a larger picture with fz1000 that might make the focal length with cropping almost the same quality . I am considering this camera because I like to take pictures of my pets at the dog park . I need reach with fast shutter speed and focus . I also have no time for changing lenses with a high end cameras . Bridge cameras are a bargain for most activities. Regardless of your choice as you can get professional results with either camera and still have time enjoying other activities
If I didn't already have the fz200 and still working fine, I still think that I'd go with the fz1000 because of the larger sensor as the size of both cameras are about the same. But, if I were doing a lot of outdoor work, where weather proofing was a bonus, I'd choose the 300/330.
+Lepewhi I don't know if the larger sensor will give you much advantage . I have to close up the aperture to achieve the same DOF with fz1000 as the fz200.That in turn causes me to use a higher iso and I'm back at square one for noise ... I'm not a big fan of bokeh . When the light is good I can get greater detail with the larger sensor on the fz1000. That is good only when I crop in on a picture . It just seems like I got more pictures that I liked with the fz200 because I spend less time with focus and more time taking pictures . All newer screens will be 4K . 4K video is 4K regardless of sensor size . It depends if you shoot video or stills ... It is only my opinion . There are plenty of great cameras on the market , way more expensive . Most photographers put their money in lenses . I like the small sensor fz200 because it gives great optical zoom with greater DOF than expensive cameras . No matter what your choice is it will cost way less money than a lens alone. Professional bicyclist ride 10,000 dollar bikes because the sponsors pay for them, and the same for many pro photographers and their cameras or at least it is a tax write off . You can always buy used
Surprised with the FZ200 still image comparison with the FZ330, the FZ200 still images look as if they have more resolution than the FZ330 until you get to higher ISO's, although the graded FZ330 video is better then the FZ200 retaining more highlight detail. I have a FZ200 and FZ1000 and sometimes wonder if I should have stayed with the FZ200
+nkroy1 No difference between the two. For some reason Panasonic decided to market the same unit as a FZ300 in US & FZ330 in UK. Something similar was done with the FZ45 UK/ FZ40 US.
In my experience researching this, the P900 is a question of buying a telescope with a camera attached to it. All other features are out of the window as you sacrifice pretty much everything for that insane zoom. I decided to go with this Panasonic because I was willing to lose zoom length for overall quality of everything else. The camera geeks in the store I went to kept raving about how well designed this lens is across the whole zoom range. The P900 is really big, and seems so laser focussed on just one feature. The Panasonic seemed more well rounded to me.

not got a definite answer but larger zoom lens to move etc I would say the fZ1000 would have less life than the FZ330 as they both use the same blc12 e battery
