Just shot my cousin's wedding in 4k on the fz2500, video was great, and the ability take pics at the same time was a real plus. The Panorama mode was great for a shot of the entire wedding party..

Thanks, great video. Another good pairing I have found is the FZ2500 and G85. The G85 lacks a few of the more pro video features but it does allow for a more shallow depth of field depending on the lens. They use the same battery too which is pretty sweet. I had been thinking about upgrading my FZ2500 but you remind me just how great and versatile this camera is. Thanks!

Wow ! I was was about to upgrade from a FZ2000 to a G9 with a couple of lenses ! I was convinced Camera 1 was the GH5 and was saying to myself yup that looks worth the upgrade !!! Seriously considering keeping the FZ2000 now !

It was a good idea to compare the difference of those cameras. I found almost no difference under the sunny light situations,. I realized an important difference (though it was FZ1000 and GH5) When I shot the Kabuki show at the big theater with 2 cameras simultaneously. The difference was at the dark scene under strong spot light. GH5 +Leica 12-60 compensated the difference beautifully, but FZ1000 didn't do a good job. Too bright on the face and not enough light on the back.. FZ2500/FZ2000 may be progressed from the older model. But, I would suggest you to try under similar severe situations. If you need to know the difference. Both are good cameras.

Hi great review. I have the GH5 and g80 but was thing of selling the g80 to buy the fz2500 for my cam as it has continous shooting with no time limit, Nd filters variable frame rate which all are features that can match my GH5 when using 2 cameras for video. But I am still concerned about the one inch sensor. Just was wondering what would be your thought as the fz2500 for if I did not want to carry my GH5 with vibe lenses, rig , etc I t could be useful to carry this all in one camera. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Holy moly. Thanks for this blind comparison! Already at the first scene it was 100% obvious which cam had to be which, because one image was so much sharper and had such better color balance than the other. The other cam looks like a smartphone in comparison. And guess what, it turned out to be exactly vice versa, lol. I am still wondering if you don't have those two confused.. because the FZ2500 is the cheaper camera and yet wins by such a large margin.

I just think that you should have included a low light comparison between the 2. Shooting with the bright sun all over the place can be handled by smaller sensor cameras quite well.

Hi i have both cameras,in your test except for the last clips[stability test] the FZ2000 was better,i find quality results from mine on par with each other,you were asked if you used 1080P on the GH5 what would be the point.

Thanks for the test, very useful to see the 2 side by side without hype or preknowledge of the results. I was dead set on the 2500, but that stability test result is off putting. Can anyone who owns the 2500 give me feedback on if the poor 4K video stability hampers your usage or how you compensate if it does? Someone suggested that the results was due to the fact that the 2500 does not have full stability in 4K video, so if I'm shooting 1080P, is the stability comparable to the GH5? If not the 2500, what other bridge camera has better stability in 4K video? Thanks for any replies

Love my FZ2500. About the 4k cropping. Most see it as a negative but for me (I use full zoom a lot) in 4k, the ability to zoom from 36mm to 720mm gives the equivalent of a 30 x optical zoom. Or am I wrong?

I own and use 4 Lumix cameras with 4K capability FZ1000, FZ300, GX8 and LX100. I love the lenses on the Super Zooms and have been agonising if it is worth upgrading to the FZ2500. Reason being that many reviewers gave the newer lens a bad wrap. Any experiences in practice amongst owners here? Thanks!

For cam cost and lens costs I have to go with the FZ 2000 (which I own. And the FZ1000) but under low light my FZ 2000 is pretty useless! I just can't reduce the noise... unless I use a de-noiser in post (Im talking about video footage).

FZ2500 wins it hands down.. GH5 only has better stabilization, But I went for Sony A68 18-135 .. about 350$ cheaper than FZ2500..

Does anybody know if there is a way to attach an interchangeable lens to the fz-2500?

we have a bunch of fz2500s now for our wedding filming,plus we have a couple of gh5s,got to say the fz2500 gets used alot more so than the gh5,we extended our colour by adding the vlog on the fz2500 so now when we hook them up to our Ninjas running at 10bit 4.2.2 the footage is a tad better then the gh5s but that could be down to the glass,the only real benifit we get from the gh5 is the shooting at 60p,overall if i was going to recomend one it would have to be the FZ simply because for the money your getting a whole lot of camera,mind you the GH5 kicks its ass with stills ,plus the fz has a really annoying sleep mode which after about 10 mins it snoozes and forgets the settings which is a bugger,if anyone knows how to switch sleep mode off please comment or msg us

In your comparaison the fz2500 seems to be much sharper but gets more moire and rolling shutter than the GH5... And the gh5 stab's is much much better, maybe because in 4k the fz2500 has only optical stab not fully 5 axis hybrid. A good test should be to compare them in 1080p instead of 4k, sure difference will be much shorter i think

Like the FZ2000 better. White balance seems to be better. GH5 is only better at stabilisation.

Hi. Thanks for this great review. It looks like both cameras; the FZ2500 and the GH5 are very similar with visual productivity. The Camera 2 - Which you didn't stipulate was related to each camera, seems to bit a tad bit warmer in color tone. But most people probably won't be able to tell the difference between the quality of the two cams. I also heard that the FZ2500 has a problem with light variation when zooming in and out. Did you experience that issue with the FZ2500?

Un believable, the Fz2500 has not shown any difference from Gh5 in picture quality because I ad gone vice verse before i knew which camera was which, the only difference I have seen was on stability, Just a slight difference . I wanted by to upgrade frim fz2500 to gh5, but it seems not a big deal

The 2500 looks sharper and slightly better. The GH5 obviously has amazing stabilization though.

I voted for #1 three times with no differences in the rest. I don't own either camera.

I seem to be on my own here but the gh5 looked much better to me on all clips except the sign where they level pegged for me.

WTF!!! Cam one was superior in every case. How? Oh, yeah. These were outdoor shots, so you have the FZ on ND 3. Being an old TV cam guy (ND Wheel) I can tell you ND does a lot more than allow you to use lower fstops. They primarily make a sunny, glarey shot WAY sharper. The gh5 did not (I imagine) have an ND filter on, so this was an unfair comparison.

I guess you shot with GH5 at 1080p mode.

This is an interesting comparison and very worthwhile -- BUT - it really isn't a totally accurate, fair "test" -- nor a completely comprehensive comparison. (1) The GH5 is an interchangeable lens body with a vast number of available lenses (both native and 3rd party). This video is going to be influenced by the choice of the Lumix 12-60 as the lens used in the comparison.... What if it had been the Leica version of the 12-60 ? Or a Sigma ? Or a Leica prime ? Or any of the countless number of available lenses ? (2) I don't know what mode of stabilization was used on the GH5 -- depending upon the firmware of the body and the lens -- different types are available (the latest being DUAL I.S 2 -- only available with specific native lenses and firmware)... The GH5 has numerous features lacking in the FZ2500 -- 10 bit can be shot internally not just through the HDMI out. GH5 offers 4k at 60fps. The GH5 can shoot up to 400 mbps internally ! GH5 sensor is micro 4/3 whereas FZ2500 is 1" -- the micro 4/3 is slightly larger (which will affect crop factor, low light capabilities, etc.) Plus there are a vast number of options that the GH5 offers that the FZ2500 doesn't... To say that the footage of the FZ2500 looks "better" -- may be true in this particular instance... But this is outdoors, in bright light and with one particular lens mounted on the GH5 (with unknown firmware versions on the body and lens).... There is a reason that the original manuf suggested retail price of the GH5 was about double the FZ2500 (and that is the GH5 body alone -- no lens)... I'm not knocking the FZ2500 at all -- it is a great camera.....but it really isn't in the same category as the GH5....
