Finally got this camera in and been running quite a few test.
I want to love this camera like I do the gh5. I learned that I cant use the dynamic range boost. Its min iso 2000 and even though the gh6 is native iso 400 and 2000 it looks terrible in the shadows.
I did a color space transform from Vlog to Rec 709. This footage is unusable.
But figured I would upload it anyway so you guys can see. I tried to clean the noise up as much as possible without it looking weird.
Shot on Panasonic gh6 with sigma 18-35, Apple Prores Vlog.

It's an awesome film. I'd recommend checking out ROWE FILMS for his GH6 shirt films, too. He has created some mind-blowing stuff - storm is a particular favourite of his of mine.

Looks good to me! I didn't pixel peep, and pretty much never do. I've owned the GH1,2,3,4,5 and now 6. I know they can be a bit on the digital-looking side, but I think you did a good job of taking the robotic look out of it and giving the shots more feeling. Just curious, is there a camera that gives you an image you're currently more happy with?

@@JoshuaBoothCreative For me the ibis with manual lenses makes a big difference but the 6ks footage looks so good! Off topic your netix lighting poped up on my sony tv because of this convo/view. The internet is wild.

@@DEADIKATED yea same here. Even with gh4 and gh5 I've always used Canon mount lenses. Felt the like options were more.

Great video, but your ND is affecting the sides of your image at 0:23, I had the same thing with my tests. I'm gonna buy a fixed ND, then have my variable ND attached to that

What you said about DR BOOST... Is the same thing I said... But web I said it ppo called me an idiot and claimed that pros always use ND. Yeah, true about ND... But their cameras usually run at ISO 640 and 800.... Not 2000!!! I'll have the GH6 in my hand this Friday and I'll beat the ish or of it. You showed exactly what I said. What you got out of this camera is iron though!!!

Yea man 2000 seems insane. Then I realized that the native iso is 400 and 2000. 2000 looks pretty clean on the other profiles but when the boost is on it looks just as bad as 12800 iso. Where did you order yours from?

Just shot some test footage of my own. With Dr boost in vlog... The image is MUCH cleaner with way better DR than with Dr boost off and I just can't find any noise all the way up to 8000 iso after the image is properly corrected and using ettr. I would not shoot with Dr boost off. This camera with Dr boost on is 10x cleaner than footage from my gh5

I tried shooting a full wedding video on Cine D with DB ON and I used a vintage lens Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 atx pro. Not too bad just need to expose properly. Yeah, probably for it to look good you gotta, I don't know, expose correctly? Cameras are supposed to help and give options not do all the work for you. Cheers
