In fact even the Vilambit Shankara bandish sung here, ‘Aadi Mahadev been bajai’, is by the Muslim composer Niyamat Khan ‘Sadarang’, believed to be a court musician in the court of the emperor Mohammad Shah Rangile.
These muslims are Brahmin Converts who have not left the Shastra Sangeet and Guru Shishya Paddhati - so the Brahman Tradition continue . There is nothing Islamic in this.

So the music that has existed in the subcontinent for a long while is likely a mixed tradition, and I for one do not suppose that the relative influences of A and B can be quantified. One can use a word of one’s choosing for the initial historical act - mixed, adapted, stolen - the actual truth being shrouded in a gamut of possibilities. But over time, the genre has an existence larger than and different from its medieval history. It is now, in these relatively recent times, a less heard traditional genre, that has moved from raj durbars to public and private mehfils to Radio programmes to gov-t events to online RU-vid concerts and Spotify recordings. Things are more layered than they may, on the first glance, seem to be.

Undoubtedly, Rashid Khan ji will carry the rich tradition of classical singing. Though a big vaccum has already been created after sad demise of pt. Bhimsen Joshi and pt. Jasraj. But there many in upcoming generation who will fill this gap.

We feel sorrow for not having Panditji with us on the earth and praying for heavenly abodement of his soul and always have the feeling that he is within us whenever we listen to his great singing Bilambit (slow tempo) rendition of raaga performed by him and also duets with other maestros . Raaga Shankara is also a example of this which gives us eternal satisfaction of being nearer to God. Thanks for uploading for us.

Two legends, two Indians, one Joshi, one Khan. That's my country. I challenge any fundamentalist of any religion...no one can harm my country where a Joshi and a Khan sing together. Hate can't be stronger than love or music. Just impossible.
