Going out, surfing the web, reviewing other RU-vid videos talking about it, and then coming back and seeing this again just totally blows me away how much I have been torturing myself by trying to deal with the stretched out stuff for so long on my Pandora's Boxes. Thank you for presenting this, especially with the off/on option so we can actually see what it can do, and how it will benefit retro gamers. I heard from the other videos that it works best with 480p/720p, but needs the source to be HDMI. And since Pandora's Boxes already have both of those (720p, HDMI), this is literally just a plug and play solution! Love it!

Welp, I fired back up my Pandoras Box 6, went through several games, saw all those discrepancies you pointed out (now that they're staring at me in the face), and can't stand them either. So I pulled the trigger and bought two of them!

Quality optimization on both the PBDX and the PB6 fixes many of the screen tearing issues that you normally would see in a game like Final Fight.

👎 that’s not right. My DX has tearing like hell, I can setup what I want. Does anyone has a fix for the DX. My 15 years old computer displays the games supersmooth with vsync and triple buffer activated...

I have the Pandora 3D+ in an upright cabinet. I attached the mclassic and set to the blue light setting. I load a game like Galatian’s and it is still stretching full screen so is kind of flat looking - the 4:3 is not kicking in to give me the better vertical height- still at 16:9

Not video related but...I need to brag that I was able to find a FinalFight Arcade 1up at Walmart yesterday for $50! I have yet to get a deal on any cab until now.

I have an M Classic and along with the Hyperkin hdmi converter, makes a hell of a difference on the Wii.. you know, for some crisp badass Tatsunoko VS Capcom :)

some tv's have a setting to change to 4:3 that don't cost $100. it's a rip off getting that dongel for such a small thing

I use an old 19" LCD from a thrift store which is a really cheap way to get around aspect ratio.

I have 6 Led/oled hd/1080p/4k or whatever in my house and all of them have a button to change aspect ratio.

The problem is not only the stretching. At some games the UI is outside the screen. And that is not good at all. I wanna contacted the Manufacturer, because this and any other problem should be fixed at the OS of the Box. Sure I could buy a Part like this, but it didn’t solve the problem.

If you download the pandory tool it will fix Most of the issues. I’m going to do a video on it soon.

Huh... all my Pandora's Boxes are in 4:3. I guess I've just been lucky with the TV/monitors I've been using?? I don't use my 55" OLED for Pandora's Boxes, but I consider it a monitor since my computer is hooked up to it.

Even if your TV can do 4:3, it's still presenting the image in 720p, while this will effectively double the resolution to 1440p if your TV can handle the resolution. Some TVs don't, and have to reduce it to 1080p instead. So 1440p is up to your panel, just like you said the native 4:3 is up to your panel as well. But overall, to have this both present the content in 4:3 as well as 1440p for only an additional $100 that isn't locked to a particular device and can be easily moved to anything I want is such a plus, whereas if you had the Gamecube HDMI adapter, it's only built to work with the Gamecube. Money well spent, but it can't be used on another device.

I have TV’s from 3 different brands, each one has a mode in the TV natively that can do this right from the menus 🤷🏻‍♂️

Typically you're not connecting this to a TV, it’s being connected to a Arcade1up monitor via a VSDISPLAY or an LCD in an arcade. So it will take the 16:9 and push it together, it looks like a mess (via hdmi at least). It works ok via VGA but then you're displaying it at 640x480 and you’re forced to use VGA (if you even have that option). I'm not actually sure if you had this hooked up to a TV if a simple 4:3 option would fix the Pandoras 16:9 stretch but I will see if any of my TV's have it and give it a shot, thanks for the heads up.

@@RetroRalph To add to the discussion, yes you can handle the 4x3 natively in your TV, which is great, but it's still presenting the video resolution in 720p, while this will double the resolution to 1440p (if your TV can handle that resolution), and do it all with zero lag. So yes, it's not needed, but man, if I can go from HD to dual HD with a flip of a switch, and also have it in 4x3, then I'm all in!

No Unfortunately it won't. Maybe consider upgrading to the pandoras box DX and use the Pandory tool to hack it.

Ralph you brought up Electronic Boutique, do you remember they became EB games after their merged with some other mall video game store, but can’t remember the other store?

sooo why not using the remote control? on a nornal hd tv? and switch the aspect to 4:3 ?

Not all TVs will allow you to change the aspect ratio to 4x3. Most of them will consider either keeping it the same, or stretching or filling the screen, but not the opposite, squashing. So for those TVs without that option, this is the next best thing. Plus, even if you have a TV that converts to 4x3 aspect ratio automatically, you're still only getting a 720p video feed, while this is designed to take the 720p video and upscale it to 1440p and no lag. And since you can't upgrade the graphics cards on the old consoles or arcade sticks, then this is the next best thing to bring those old systems into today's technology. Yes, it's not 4K, but neither was it before. 720p is considered "HD" graphics. So this is designed to double the resolution, to give you as Retro Ralph said, "Dual HD".

Ralph, I have my retro consoles going into a 4K qled and I just set those inputs to 4:3 and everything displays properly. Does this cable make scanlines or something?

That’s cool that your TV has that option, this does upscale the image to 2K from 720p for these Pandora box consoles... I wouldn’t use this vs like a OSSC or Retro Tink but it’s kind of cool for this application. Thanks for watching man! I'm not actually sure if you had this hooked up to a TV if a simple 4:3 option would fix the Pandoras 16:9 stretch but I will see if any of my TV's have it and give it a shot. It’s more a solution to force it into the correct 4:3 aspect ratio then a fidelity boost. It does make it appear a tad more crisp though. The mclassic is a really cool device because you can use it on anything with an HDMI port that could benefit from near real-time upscaling.
