Fun fact: This is adrenaline. Your character gets a shot of adrenaline every time they look at something shocking (such as corpses, monsters, etc), which makes them have a blurrier sight and makes this particular sound play until your character calms down.
Such a shame Amnesia games after The Dark Descent stopped using the sound nearly as much. Rebirth only played it for like half a second when a monster spotted you. Bunker brought it back for a few seconds but its still not that deafening cacophony that was so iconic to TDD.
Seeing a bracken drag your friends liveless mangled corpse out of view while hoping hes still alive chase the bracken to try to save him, just to see you were too late
the first time i heard this was when i encountered a coilhead for the first time. everyone else was either dead or at the ship, and the last thing i heard from anyone was a frantic scream before it cut off. I was super tense trying to find my way out the labyrinth, and suddenly heard the frenzied pitter-pattering behind me. I was able to turn around in time, and heard this play as the screen went blurry. It really captures the "i don't know what that thing is, but i should get away from it immediately" feeling i got when first seeing it.
Also can you find the sound that usually randomly plays when you're deep within the facility alone? I've heard people say they play when your insanity is high from being separated from other people and not talking with them via walkie talkie
Are you talking about the deep bass sound that kinda sounds like a distorted voice... grumbling, I guess? Because I keep hearing it and I have no idea what the source is, and I just realized it's always when I'm alone
@@catpoke9557 I think I know which one you're talking about, it kinda sounds like it fluctuates in volume, like someone making ghost sounds while covering and uncovering their mouth. There's another sound that sounds like something heavy being dropped over and over, like a deep thudding. You can also occasionally hear a mocking laughter that's often been misattributed as a Bracken, but it's also a sanity thing. In a game with so many unknowns, it's so clever for the dev to put in these sounds that only play when you're alone haha

y'know that feeling when you're about to peacefully fall asleep, and right then and there you remember you've got an assignment due at midnight and there's jack shit you do about it cause it's like 11:30 or smth? that's what this sound reminds me of, and i know i'm not the first person to think so.
