Out on the coast for my second video using the Chroma Six 17 panoramic film camera. This time I'm shooting Kodak Ektar but realised after unloading the first roll I had wound on the film backwards, not once but both rolls !!. Thankfully all was not lost and after getting the films developed was happily surprised with the results. I am still getting to grips with the tonality and colour of Ektar, this shoot has convinced me this film is worth the effort. More shoots to come in various situations.

I enjoy very much this video. You Took some great photos. I am Found of panoramic photos and i Use a Noblex pro 5x12 cm. One day If you have the opportunity try this Camera. The lens gives you an angle Of 146°! It s really a true panoramic Photo. One of your fan from France

Thank you glad you like this, great to know I have some French viewers, my partner is a French teacher and we did a lovely road trip through France last year, hoping to go again this summer

Lovely images. Makes me want to get back out and shoot some 6x17 too (although the weather here in Sussex seems to be against that at the moment). Interesting about the loading issue (or non-issue) - my main problem is that I sometimes forget to wind on after an exposure and so end up accidentally double-exposing a frame.

Ah that’s great hopefully inspires you to get out, the weather has been pretty dire recently though, get the odd day down here and always try and get out when I can. I think I’ve sussed the film wind on and unload now taken a few rolls but all good now thankfully

Hi Lee, I've always thought of Ektar as a Negative version os Provia a film that is high in contrast and low in latitude, I will use it when the light is flatter in my landscape photography. If the light is contrasty I will go with Portra. FWIW my favourite film is Provia but I am having trouble finding a good lab to proces and scan it for me so I am using Ektar instead.

Hi I’ve not tried Portra yet, going to try some Portra 160 soon. I’m a huge fan of Velvia normally, got some to shoot tomorrow. I can’t find much Provia 100 around at the moment. I’m using Jacks Lab in Bristol for E6, takes a while to get back though. Scanning wise I’m using my Sony A7R and macro lens to digitally scan, getting 350MB plus files to work with which os great

Great video! I've been looking at getting the Six:17 as well so your videos have been invaluable to help understand what I might be getting myself into. Will look forward to hearing how your urban experience goes with it, as I am especially interested in cityscapes with that camera!

Thankyou glad you liked the video. So far so good with this camera, it’s so good to be able to change film backs and compose on the ground glass. Was concerned initially with film flatness but absolutely no worries on this aspect results so far have been great. Currently editing the urban shoot, got the results back yesterday and all good, should be out early next week.

@@LeePengellyPhotography sounds awesome! It was funny watching your last video with your first shoot as the thoughts you had were exactly what I was thinking about (prices, 3D printed options, etc), and watching Chroma’s video on the ground glass is what started to sell it to me over other 3D printed options. I’ve subscribed so I’ll keep an eye out for that!

I like the last shot as well, great tones and colors. Ektar is one of my favorite film, last I used it was in sequoia national park, very pleasing images. Keep up the good work

@@Adam-pm1cy Yes it definitely slows you down, Ive made a few errors but thankfully everything has come out so far. Need to get another hand held meter though will make life easier

@@LeePengellyPhotography For me the biggest challange (shoot with a Fuji G617) is to hit focus without actually knowing if thats the case. The "fun" aspect of shooting with a view camera, and only having to rely on scale focusing.. 😬
@LeePengellyPhotography

@@Adam-pm1cy That’s what I like about the Chroma the ability to focus on ground glass, bit more time consuming though
